I'm back and back at it. The visit to see my mom in the assisted living facility wasn't easy, but I'm very glad I went. Also glad to report the scale showed no change, despite days of undereating and days of overeating -- guess it all balanced out. Most days I got my freggies, water, and nonfat milk.
I got 2 short runs in in South Dakota. When I couldn't stand my running shoe I actually did run in Crocs. I know that is a stupid thing to do, but I just wanted to run so bad and could not tolerate anything on the sore spot. I ended up with two blisters. I bought another pair of shoes for walking that didn't stress the blisters or the sores. I did get lots of walking done every day but one.
Enjoyed a 4.5 mile run-walk-run this morning and am delighted to see that most of my Galloway pace group ran a 5K race last Saturday, so the 8 mile run was rescheduled to this Saturday. I'll do another short run on Thursday, the 8 mile on Saturday, and I should be back on schedule. The HM on Nov 18th is a go!!!

Oh, I didn't even want to blog about it. Can't believe I did it. But yes, I did. Thursday morning I knocked a casserole dish full of chili off the second shelf of the refrig around bleary-eyed 6:30am. It hit my right foot and shattered between my feet. I had to pull four shards out of my feet - two in each. It was one of those scenes: pushing dog trying to eat shard-filled food away, trying to remove glass and apply direct pressure to blood -- if not exactly gushing -- more than trickling, wiping up chili splattered in strange places throughout the refrigerator and even up my shirt. Aaargh. The voice says again for the 400th time "even if you are slender, you are just as much a klutz as you were heavy." No, no I'm not, I answer, kind of convincing myself.
OK. Now deal with reality. When I tried to put on a running shoe yesterday and again this morning, I got blood on my sock and it hurt. No good. OK. More flexibility called for. I skipped my planned 6.5 miles run this morning. I went and bought a new pair of Crocs that don't stress my sore spots. Then I rode the stationary bike for 45 minutes and did a really good session of strength training. I tried the elliptical gingerly and did 15 minutes. So I got my cardio in. Hoping I can run again by Tuesday. I'll be visiting my mom in South Dakota. We'll see.
I may be just a bit behind on my training for the half marathon in November, but I will catch up!!

Just got back from the Y. Met DSIL there and gave him the kids before my workout. I will be glad when Gwen is well enough to go back to the nursery, since morning workouts are my favorites. But at least Gwen doesn't feel bad; she just has a runny nose. I went 5 miles on the treadmill in just about an hour in run-walk-run intervals . I started out tired, but picked up steam and ended up feeling good. I find that is often the way with 5 pm workouts, while with morning workouts I feel good from the beginning.
This Saturday I'll run with my Galloway group. We are scheduled for 6.5 miles. I'll ride with my cycle group on Sunday, but on Monday I'm headed out of state, flying 2000+ miles to visit my 85 year old mom who has recently entered an assisted living facility. I plan to do all 3 of my scheduled training runs during my visit. I'll be back the following week. Hope to be committed and flexible enough to stick to the plan!

Inspired by Aquagirl and her dedicated homemaking efforts detailed in great blogs, I tackled a chore I'd been putting off for a long, long time. Let's just say that 5 year old Natalie now knows what a dust bunny is and can attest that there are no longer any under my bed.
Gwen, 22 months old, doesn't feel bad, but her nose is running worse than ever, so I'm not taking her to the Y nursery. I got up and did my training run in my neighborhood. Heard a neighbor yelling, "looking good," and truly appreciated the encouragement. And thinking about training, little Gwen with very little direction, took it upon herself to use the potty for the second time here. Her mom just called. She did it at home, too. We are cheering. She clearly loves the encouragement as much as I do!!!
Good eating day with lots of fresh produce. I hope to get inspired by another blog I read this eve. Mirage727 blogged about, among other significant points, running on clean fuel. Running on Clean Fuel. I think I've found a new mantra!!

I rode with the cycling group this morning a little over 14 miles. I'm spoiled as group leader Cindy usually posts the picture she takes immediately, but I don't see it today on FaceBook. There may be some technical glitch. There were 5 of us today. Unlike last Sunday, I was good and remembered my helmet, so my new short do doesn't show in the picture anyway.
It was a blue sky day with quite a bit of breeze. At least half of the trail is shady, too, so starting at 8am wasn't a bad decision. We saw lots of birds. One of the riders considers cardinals lucky, so she counts them - a dozen today! And when we got to Bartow and crossed a major intersection I wasn't near as scared of the traffic as I was the first time. (This is just the second time I went off the trail at this busy point.)
Gwen is napping now and Natalie is entertaining herself for a moment. We're having roasted pork tenderloin and veggies this evening. It's another happy, active , healthy day here in central Florida!
