If You Read My Status, You Already Know

Monday, September 12, 2011

I set a new personal record today for distance. I went 10 miles. I did it on the treadmill at 1% incline with no holding on. After warm up, I ran 4 minutes and then walked 1 minute for 10 miles. I ran at 6mph and walked at 4.5mph. I don't feel tired or sore. Feeling great, actually!

Delayed Pictures

Sunday, September 11, 2011

I finally got the pictures from the Sept 3rd. I posted this one yesterday on my SparkPage, although it is so little you can hardly see me. I like the finish from the side, because you can see I'm still running!

The next day the kids got to play with aunt and niece, and Aunt Debby took this picture of Gwen:

I'm feeling strong and healthy and am delighted that with all I've been eating, my weight is still in range. It is kind of toward the top of the range, though, so I'm going to try to be a little careful. I have a 12 day trip coming up, but I expect to do fine. We'll see.

Hope you enjoy your trip: you might like to review the Beck chapter on travel before you go!!

But I for one have no doubt whatsoever that you will do just great!

Feels Like Fitness

Saturday, September 10, 2011

I keep a list of the advantages of living at goal weight. Those of you who have followed the Beck Diet Solution know exactly what I'm writing about. I have the advantages written out on 3x5 cards, sitting on my treadmill, so I see them daily and review them at least weekly. I have detailed my 20 advantages before in this blog.

I've had them written out for at least 6 months with no amendments, but today I just had to add one. I became aware during the Zumbathon how much I like the way my body feels when I put my hands on my hips. All I feel is skin, tight muscle, and bone. And when my fingers hit my outer thighs they feel completely solid. To me, it just feels like fitness!

You are absolutely right. When you first notice that your muscles are developing and you have "definition" instead of flab, it really does feel like fitness!

"Feels like fitness": I really get that -- it's the back of my waist at the sides, no bulge. And trying on that dark green size six pant suit (a.k.a. The Challenge): yup, no problem, all ready to resume wear this fall . . .

Thanks for your kind inquiry about my eyes: they're somewhat better but I will not be trying my contact lenses again any time soon!

Challenging Day

Thursday, September 08, 2011

I ran over 8 miles this morning in 80 minutes. Felt good.

Hurried home and cleaned up for morning through lunch meeting. I didn't add the salad dressing, but there was already some on the romaine salad. I set the croutons aside. I did my best to scrape off the light breading and gravy. I ate my asparagus and salmon and a bit of rice pilaf. Passed up the bread, the cakes, pies, and chocolate candy favors. I love that they had fresh raspberries and blueberries as a dessert choice and I passed on the whipped cream.

Now I have a dinner tonight. I usually try not to eat out more than once a week, but here I have 2 meals out today. AND then I have a party later. I am committed to doing the best I can without feeling deprived. I feel pretty confident that I'll do okay. If I'm up a bit, I know I can get it back quickly!!

    Marsha,
I think that you will do fine, in fact at this time the day would be over and I bet you did ok. IN theory, you would have to have 3500 calories over your normal day and I bet you didn't come close to that. Thanks for sharing

Little Luxuries

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

Some little indulgences really add a lot to life!! One of mine is having a variety of shampoo and matching fragrance conditioners to choose from each day. I enjoy soothing lavendar lots of days, but sometimes prefer an energizing citrus. I have green apple fragrance and my newest may end up being my favorite, mango-melon. Since I shower two or even more times a day due to workouts, these little luxuries make for a nice workout reward. The bottles look pretty sitting on the window sill in the shower, too!

That would be nice! Glad you are treating yourself! I trust you have good lotions to prevent your skin drying out from so many showers! As my bridge club has gone unscented, I have to make sure nothing I use has a fragrance..

Matching shampoo and conditioner in a variety of choices: what a nice idea.I'm highly motivated by small treats like that too: even a fresh bar of soap for my shower at the gym!

And: no calories either!! We need more luxuries like these!

I also love a nice smelling body lotion for when you are finished working out for the day. I use a delicious smelling one that is a smoothing shampoo and conditioner. Every once in a while I'll catch a whiff of it on my way into the showers at the gym and I wonder who smells so good and then I realize it's my own shampoo. How embarrassing is that?

Shampoo is put so close to our noses - I always smell them before I purchase!

I love coconut!

One of my little "pleasures" is lavendar scented epsom salts to soak my body or feet in at the end of a long day! Isn't it nice that such little things can truly be so enjoyable!
