Skinny "Compliment"

Friday, October 30, 2009

Earlier this week I ran into two people I hadn't seen for a year when I was 40 pounds heavier. One woman (prom queen/cheerleader type) was very complimentary. The, who fights her own weight problem, said I was too skinny. I just pretended that both of them had given me compliments.

What a great day you had! Complements feel great don't they?

Good for you, and good attitude about the comments! A reminder I find I have to give myself when someone gives one of those "change back" messages: you don't have to slide backwards just because someone else struggles or is not doing as well. Being gracious about success does not mean giving it up. It's OK to succeed and feel good about it.

Natalie's First Joke

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Yesterday I asked 2 year old Natalie to count the number of legs on a horse we could see in the field behind my house. She started well, "One- Two-Three- Four," but then she went on, "Five-Six-Seven-Eight-Nine." I was already to tell her it was good counting, but.... When she stopped and with a pixie grin looked me straight in the eye and said, "FOUR!"

Why the Old Mom screen name?

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

I keep my 2 year old granddaughter 4 or 5 days a week while her mother is working. I tried to get her to call me "Grammy," but she kept calling me "Mom." I told her I was too old to be her mom. So, I deserve it, don't I? She started calling me Old Mom and I think it is beautiful.

I'm the other kind of 'old mom' - I had my son at 40 emoticon
