Didn't kill my diet at Olive Garden.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Last night I went out to Olive Garden on a date with my wife. I wanted to make sure that I didn't overindulge while I was there and rack up the calories but honestly, that's really tough to do!
Because I knew I was going there, I made sure to adjust what I ate the rest of the day.
I had Cheerios and a banana for breakfast.
I had egg whites and cottage cheese for lunch.
I had a granola bar and almonds for my morning and afternoon lunch.
All together I had about 800 calories in my first two meals and my snacks.
That left me with 1400 calories to cover at dinner.
I know I didn't balance out my diet throughout the day, but I figured it was a nice treat and doesn't happen every day so I knew I could splurge.
I ordered water, had 2 breadsticks (300 cal) a small salad (300 cal) and fettuchini alfredo and chicken primavera (750 cal). Not bad!
Planning made this trip not ruin me for the week. I am thankful to sparkpeople for helping to shape my mentality for how to properly get through times when I know I will go beyond where I should in my eating. It makes the splurges not feel as bad!

Great job with your planning! I have found that is what saves me sometimes is planning ahead. Thinking about some of this beforehand eliminates some spontaneous and not so good decisions later.

Ready for some Football!

Sunday, February 06, 2011

Today is cleaning day. I want to get everything looking good so when the football game comes on tonight I can enjoy it without worrying about getting things ready for the coming week. Lots to do, but motivated to do it. I've also gotta do Kempo X for P90X this afternoon. Well...off to Bring it!

Stretching

Friday, January 28, 2011

This morning I did X Stretch from the P90X program. I was sweating pretty hard and my body didn't move much at all. What a calm workout that I felt to be useful! I am totally seeing progress with my flexibility, balance and strength and am only 3 1/2 weeks into this thing. Diet, regular exercise and concious effort to be all around healthy sure turn this body that looked healthy into one that also feels healthy inside too.

I did P90X a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I saw an amazing change in just a few weeks. It's a great program.

Keep at it!

Aches and pains

Thursday, January 27, 2011

This morning I did P90X Kempo X. It went well but at one of the sequences of punches I hurt my elbow. I rubbed it out and it was able to get back to feeling better in a bit of time. I wouldn't worry about it so much if it were the first time, but last week when I did the same workout it got sore the same way. I don't know if I should ice it after the workouts or if I should find some stretches for my elbow (do they have those?). All I know is that I am not looking forward to my next Kempo workout because I don't want to be worried during my workout. I want to do it well and work hard throughout.

I do it for my kids!

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

I am not overweight. I look pretty healthy. My problem is I can tend to be a couch potato and not eat the best. Why am I working out every day and counting calories? Because I don't want my kids to see me as an example of how to live while I am lazy. I work hard and eat good food. I want them to work hard and eat good food too. That's why I do it!
