Inner Strength

Here is my chemo update:

For the first time yesterday after months chemo and of feeling nothing...I felt like something might be working! Now one of the women who shared Chemo with me yesterday explained how hard this treatment was and that she could not take it...so maybe I want something so badly that I am looking for things that really aren't there....but I don't think so....I got myself to my office this morning without waking John and with a cup of coffee and and I no longer remember when the last time that I did that...I felt chemo yesterday....I had to get home with only part of my errands completed.....and the weakness that I have has decreased....I can't believe that I feel like like this so fast and had yet a very low dose of Prednisone so that can be eliminated! I truly believe that it may become my “strength” in days to come over the next few weeks but there is hope that I haven't quite felt in really the last months that I am sure my friends have recognized too!!!! There is just something about being proactive that cannot be replaced because it leads me to make a difference...so as we move forward know that I can do so now in a manner that I could not have only a few hours ago...be I right or wrong to be so excited! After all, my strength more often than not comes from some pain that I have already experienced!

So thank you you one and all for being with me yesterday! I know that each of you supported me in many special ways! Including as one friend told me “I am a virtual friend so I can sit on your shoulder and not weigh you down” and she and I smiled when I patted my shoulder and my Chemo buddy looked at me as if to say whoops, I get it!



















So you see...being me is actually fun!!!!!

Thank you in advance for your time and your friendship!! I really really don't want to know where or what I would really be without it!!!! But I do know that I don't want to find out!!!!!!!!!!!

  Oh Lady Love. You Are So Special and So Loved By Us All! You bring us laughter and smiles and wonderful messages. I love the one I am not perfect but I like what I am becoming! That chemo is chomping away the bad cells and all of us are behind the chemo filling in those places with healthy full of life and fun cells. That is what you are feeling! Welcome to the barnyard, and humble abode of Foghorn Leghorn Quotes. My name is in fact, Foghorn J. Leghorn, and I will be your host and narrator during your visit here on the farm.

First and foremost for your entertainment pleasure, allow me to introduce my fellow cast members.

Beginning with the barnyard hussy and lady of the house … hen house that is, the lovely Miss Prissy, affectionately known around here as the ‘widow hen.’ Next, that conniving canine and unsuspecting recipient of most of my pranks, my co-star, George P. Dog, better known as the“Barnyard Dawg.”

We proceed on to that hip rooster from the ‘yard’ next door, the ‘crooner’ who fancies himself quite the ladies man, that “banty” beatnik with the goatee … “like uh, link us man, link us.”Last but certainly not least … in his own mind anyway, ‘that boy’ who still proclaims, “I’m a chicken hawk!”I give you Henery, “nice kid but he’s gettin’ too big for his britches.”

Supporting cast members include: Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Kid Banty, Egghead Jr. Elvis & Pappy, plus my old college chum, Rhode Island Red.

All of this would not have been possible were it not for the illustrative genius and gentleman who gave me my start back in ’46.’ The man responsible for the 28 cartoons in which your host and friends appear … creator & director, Mr. Robert “Bob” McKimson. And of course, the gentleman who gave me the voice & dialect you’ve come to know and love, my friend and confidant, Mr.Mel Blanc.

So, herein lie the ‘looney’escapades of my cohorts, “myself included” as we take that stroll down memory lane, and recapture the laughter and funny moments of times past. Take care! I guess that I I am becoming somewhat of a bore because of repetition, but I really enjoy the past! I have enjoyed TV next to SP as I have had to slow down but I just normally seem to get pulled to the past and when I was growing up! Maybe because there is truth in the words that children are the the happiest beings in the universe! And at this stage that is what I need!

So on whatever level you shared this Blog I say thank-you and maybe these are old and too simple for today’s young generation but personally I like to think that I am passing on our “culture” when life was very simple! After all we saw much of it in Black and White not 3D!

    I have fond memories of watching those cartoons growing up. My dad watched them with me sometimes, and Foghorn Leghorn was his favorite.
I watched them in black and white also; we didn't get a color TV until I was in high school.

thanks for the reminder of times past. Those were great cartoons and that is what Sat. was for me too growing up. one of my fun memories was watching Buffalo Bod Clarabell the clown and Hodddy duddie and his puppet friends. hope chemo went well and looking forward to seeing what you share Wednesday.

    I'll be thinking of you and praying for you today while undergoing chemo. Your attitude is fantastic. God blessed us with memories and if yours gives you pleasure from old TV shows or cartoons that's wonderful. It would be horrible to go day to day and not remembering anything on our journey.

It is Monday let's have some fun!!!!!!

I had this neat or what I thought would be neat blog put together this morning because I realized that I had been more serious than what I needed to be for the last couple of days so thought that we would celebrate Monday a little differently! I love some of my “childhood” friends and never seem to share these memories so today is the day!!!!! First though I ask that you understand that I try to find things to make me laugh and sometimes I do so and then I wonder why I was even laughing...maybe it is the way John wonders if he should call the Dr.! So this morning I am sharing these experiences with you so I can tell him that I am OK!!!!! And you said so!

First there are some time-lines that you have to know from my childhood that I should share with you!!!!



First is my first true love, in black and white, at a time when life was like this and seemed... o so simple...I have to paint a picture for you. I was 10 years old when Marshall Dillon came into my life. At 10 I was in the 4th grade and only weighed about 135 when others couldn't wait to get to 100#! My Dad and yeah I was a Daddy’s girl was 5'9” and weighed almost 150 #! Got that picture? ON SATURDAY nights just as any school night, I still had to be in bed by 9PM! My Mom was an early riser so she went about the same time! At 9:55 PM my Dad would would come down the hall wake me up and LITERALLY LUG me (so my feet didn't touch the floor and wake my Mom) down the hall....and this how I came to love Matt and be jealous of Miss Kitty!

To show you what I mean, there is one important story that I should share about my Dad....during WWII he actually made Sargent THREE yes 3 times! He loved France and his French girls (this was before my Mom!) So you know how he loved life and laughter and doing what needed to be done to have a good time without thinking of the risk... our Irish heritage! And he was discharged as a private when the war ended...today he would have been held in a different light so see how fortunate I really am!



Today I found my “laughter” with three of my new heroes.... first is my WI neighbor, June who is one of the happiest folks I have ever met, and then my new Hollywood love, Sam Elliott and my new TV hero House (Hugh Laurie after all is there a better puzzle solver in the world?...and believe me this footnote should get me back on schedule so to speak.) And of course a new social media which sometimes I think is getting by me!!!!!

First, June sends me much of what is used in my blogs! From cats to quotes to pure laughter...so you see how special she is!!!!!

That slow talking deep voice saying this...well...you get the old woman's drift!!!!!

Ever think yourself “but a puzzle to solve”?

But moving on!

    Your Dad sounds just like mine. When my Irish Dad was in the army, he was stationed in Italy. The stories he told! I think telling stories is in the by-laws of being Irish. Oh, to hear just one more...!

I remember having to be in bed when "The Jimmy Dean Show" came on - I think it was 9:00. Rolf the piano-playing dog was on that show. He was the first Muppet to be on TV. The older I get, the more I appreciate Jim Henson and Frank Oz and their humor. They enchanted and taught children and had enough subliminal adult humor to keep the adults laughing.

    I loved Perry Mason! Thanks for the memories. Recently found "Emergency", "Adam-12" and "Dragnet" on Net Flix. One of the teenagers where I live sat (more like suffered I'm sure) through an episode of each and then declared she wanted her modern shows back. Her parents and I informed her that when we were her age those shows were modern! :-)

RE: "I may not have gone where I intended to go but I think I have ended up where I needed to be." The picture of the giraffe with that quote reminded me of how I ended up seeing a giraffe up close while in Africa in the early 1990's. I had been hit by a drunk driver and couldn't work or continue in school for a while longer so I took advantage of an opportunity to visit friends living in Kenya at the time. An awesome life experience.

Thanks again for stopping by! As usual I really enjoy our weekend visits and I hope that you are able to find some special love here this morning...I know I have! I know that your time spent with me is valuable and to me it is treasured!

I am doing some volunteer work with John this morning as this is the annual “ Community Warm Clothes”. The church has been literally making a sales room in the basement of warm clothes that will be distributed to the folks in the community who need them! A lot of our the folks who will be here are seniors and there are many single working mothers who can use the help! I really do miss the non-profit work I have always been able to do!
