Time in the dirt

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

Oh the joys of playing in the dirt! I started to dig in my garden.... weeds went flying! Got a great spot for some new lilies. . Today was 58 and sunny and time to play in the dirt! No more inside stuff today... I feel so grounded , ha ha,,,, i love the dirt.... especially when u see the results of pretty new flowers...
on another note, yesterday i got to use those muscles i was working on all winter: i helped unload and stack a pallet of pellets... GO MUSCLES!

let it grow. let it grow. let it grow. I am working on covering my entire garden (beds included) with black plastic so that I don't have to weed it. When we bought the house ten years ago, I thought I SHOULD have a garden and I excavated and built beds and had an irrigation system put in. BUT I have found that I like to travel during the summer and I don't want to deal with a garden. I have so much other yard work and I get overwhelmed so I decided to weed it out, cover it up and hit the farmer's market instead!

What to do with five lbs?

Friday, April 19, 2013

I have been on sparks five years this July. I have lost this five lbs several times but it just wants to hang around... so do i keep it? be a slave to it? any ideas to get rid of it? I have learned to eat better, exercise more, lift weights so i don't lose muscle! I have lost 18 inches and 10 lbs. Not much for some but still a loss! I have weighed this weight 10 yrs ago, so its not like i have dream weight issues going on..
I chose this weight because it is in the middle of my range. I weighed at the lowest of my range until i hit 40 then badabing here it was at the top and over. I found spark and lowered it with exercise and weightlifting and calorie tracking. I still calorie track and exercise. So what gives with five lbs?

Everyone is different! If you are in your BMI, look, and feel the way you want to then don't feel like you have to be a slave to a number on the scale. You will probably lose it during the spring and summer just by being outside more and eating all the nice fruits and vegetables available this time of year. Let us know what you decide! I'm curious because I just want to get back into my BMI again!!!

If you are still at a healthy BMI with those 5 pounds, you feel good, and you can do everything you like to do, then maybe that is your body's "happy weight." If you are interested, just google "finding your happy weight" and you'll see a bunch of articles that might give you another perspective.

I would try to change your exercise or food intake. You can do it. It is frustrating when the 5 pounds don't just come off easily. emoticon

my friend died

Saturday, December 29, 2012

my furry friend past yesterday..... i had to take him back to the vet and he had multiple tumors. The poor thing could hardly walk and we had been taking care of him for weeks with antibiotics and pain pills.. ... the vet recommended we put him down as it was days away from happening.. only to end his suffering... i talked to him and give him my love and sent him on his new journey of doggie heaven...

I'm so sorry! emoticon I lost my doggy soul mate almost a year ago and I'm still having a tough time of it. emoticon This Christmas wasn't as happy even though we have other dogs and a cat. Take time to grieve and just know that there are others that are here for you!

So sorry for the loss of your friend! Our pets enrich our lives SO much. I think they are reminiscent of the Garden of Eden when humans could talk to animals! I pray you find comfort. I love this little song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H17e

It's great you want to learn Spanish. I took French throughout high school, and a bit of Hebrew in college. Then I taught myself Spanish (my father remarried a Puerto Rican, and she helped!) It is definitely an EASY language to learn. But you have to PRACTICE it to develop fluency. I built my vocabulary by writing to missionaries our church supported in Guatemala and Peru (after you look up a word a couple dozen times, you learn it!!) and my listening skills by visiting some hispanic churches in my city (since I already was familiar with the subject matter- the Bible -I could get the gist of things).

Blessings on your journey to a healthier lifestyle, and your linguistic endeavors

Dog gone:(

Monday, November 19, 2012

Just feeling blue cause my large mixed breed dog had to go to the vet.. yikes on a sunday no less! I was treating him with an antibiotic due to a cut on his foot..The vet said it was healing nicely but that wasn't the problem! he has a large cyst on his shoulder that is making him lame and swell up! wow i didn't see that coming! So surgery is the next course to drain the abscess.. poor baby,

This ol' man has been with me thru all kinds of trouble, he kept me safe when car loads of kids would drive by shouting obscenities and throwing things at the house. when some one thought they could break in, He is my confidant, my security, my best friend.
See you soon, big guy

Sorry about your pup. They are definitely our fur babies, aren't they?
My daughter had to bring her little mutt Sunny to be put to sleep on Saturday. The little sweetheart developed bone cancer and was suffering too much.
This little dog was an abandoned puppy that my daughter took in 7 years ago... he followed her everywhere. He was sweet and loving...
Hugs for you and your doggie...
