This is the first time I've kept.....

Thursday, June 09, 2011

Yesterday was the first time EVER that I got to keep all my bday gifts.

Usually everyone buys the wrong size - too big or too small. Yesterday was so exciting. My daughter got me a pair of shorts - perfect fit. She also got me pajamas in a size SMALL - woo hoo. DH bought me some pajama jeans in a size SMALL - double woo hoo.

I have always dreaded getting gifts for my birthday and Christmas only because I always had the hassle of returning just about everything. I have always told ppl not to attempt to buy me clothes, but no one every listened.

I can't explain how great it felt to know that I didn't have to return anything, that my size is just about where I want to stay and that included a couple of size "SMALLS" - What a great birthday it turned out to be.

Thanks to all my SP buddies for the birthday wishes and for always supporting me. I wouldn't be wearing the "SMALLS" without ya.

Birthday Bash

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Today is my Birthday, but I shall refer to it as my 21st anniversary of my 21st birthday, and yes.... it started out with a bash, literally.

OMG, I'm so clumsy, I tripped this morning on my way out the door wearing my platform wedge heals and totally rolled my ankle. Owwiieeeeee. Iced it when I made it to work. Gonna be a great day, I can tell (SARCASM).

Anyhoo, the bossy sis and DH are cooking me dinner tonight - yeah, that's a great bday gift - NO COOKING !!!!!!!!!!

I was going for retail therapy at the mall for lunchtime today, but now I have to reconsider since the ankle is pretty swollen. I'll settle for a lunch in the office while reading my new edition of Runner's World.

For a mid-afternoon delight, we always have cake at 3:00 at work - I get to choose what kind of cake we are having - I'm thinking angel food cake topped with strawberries - trying to keep it on the healthy side so I can undo the ice cream damage from last week, lol.

Kinda cool that I got a birthday email from Sparkpeople - it said don't just count your years, make them count !!!!!!

Happy belated birthday! Sorry I missed the actually date, but know this is a great way to make the celebration last longer and sounds like you have a lot to celebrate. No surprise that folks remembered your birthday...you are too special to really forget. Sorry about the ankle and hope it is in fine form again soon! emoticon

Happy Birthday! Certainly hope that ankle feels better and the swelling goes down soon! That is not the way to start your birthday with a Bang! May the remainder of the day be up (pun intended)!

I love the anniversary of your 21st birthday. I have used that for years but don't tell people which anniversary it is! I also tell people the the girls are my husband's by his first wife. I hate it when the girls are with us, role their eyes and say, "Mother, you are his first wife".

Have a wonderful birthday and enjoy the angel food cake with strawberries!

10 Exciting, Fun-Filled Days

Tuesday, June 07, 2011

I've been extremely busy these last 10 days. My BFF Teresa was staying with me for 10 fun-filled days. Here's some pics of what I have been up to.

My best friend of 17 years, Teresa.

My baby's high school senior prom and 18th birthday

Spent a lot of time at the pool, pool parties, the beach, Brad Paisley concert, Dairus Rucker concert - Just had a great time spending time together with my BFF and other friends too.

Just had to include one last pic - too cute for words, doesn't he look like he's smiling?

Something New to the Lighten the Lunch

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Read an article in Fitness Magazine regarding several ways to lighten your lunch. So today I tried something new on my salad. Substituted a teaspoon of dry sun flower seeds instead of croutons. Save = 30 to 50 calories. emoticonAll about saving a few calories here and there. A lot of great tips in this magazine, one of my favorite next in line to Runner's World.

Got back into action yesterday with my workouts - did a 10 minute Tony workout with bands - sheesh my arms and buttocks are feeling it today. Hoping my workout "funk" is over - P90X on tap for tonight Chest and Back. Bring on the muscles.

It's really super duper hot here today - 92 degrees and humid - ICK !!!! I like it hot, but not this hot. Sure would be a perfect pool or beach day, but I'm stuck in the office but weekend is looking fantastic.

Hope everyone is enjoying a SPARK-filled day.

I love sunflower seeds, but hulling them in your mouth and trying to spit the shell in one place and the seed into the salad just doesn't work for me. It would take too long.

Adrenaline Filled Weekend

Monday, May 23, 2011

DH and I took a 100-mile motorcycle trip yesterday to NC to visit our friends. We spent the day riding four-wheelers (my first time) and apparently my husband thought I was rather amusing. I am such an adrenaline junkie, so I tried it.

First we went back into the woods on a trail, lots of overhanging bushes and lots of mud holes, I got a little scared with one of the ruts and hit the hole and took out a small tree at the same time, ooops. I knocked over a small tree, but thank goodness I wasnít going very fast, so I had to get off the four-wheeler and move the tree from the front tires (thankfully hubby didnít see that part).

I think I had bitten off a little more than I could chew with the whole trail riding adventure, I was a little shaken up after the tree incident and figured I should just stick to riding on the flat dirt track, my skills werenít good enough for mudding and trail riding.

So I went back to the dirt, that looked a little safer. Each time around the hills I kept getting faster and faster until I launched myself into the air with a less than perfect landing, lol, scared me enough to make me call it a day. Bet I could have slept all the way home if we had of been in the car, I was exhausted. Nothing like a motorcycle ride back after a hard day of playing to totally tire you out.

Then it was home, dinner and early bedtime. I was totally worn out after such an active weekend. Looking forward to a great week of workouts and fun.

Look at you!!! We have a quad, too, but my husband and son ride it most of the time. We put a blade on it in the winter and push snow with it! We're weird!

You look "hot" on that ride, but be careful. Don't want to knock your block off! emoticon
