Sugar Overdose

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Why, ole why did I have to sample the apple danishes in the kitchen here at work. Why, why, why ?????

Now I feel sick, really. I think I am suffering from a sugar overdose. I DO know better, but I still did it, I caved, I ate one and now I am soooooo sorry I did. My friend Will Power left me helpless and alone with that danish. Come back Will, help.

Yuck, that's what I get for not sticking to the plan - ugggghhh, my belly hurts. You'd think one would learn, but every now and again I guess it's good to be reminded WHY I don't eat junk.

When Will Power abandons you, turn to my friend Manuel Labor to make up for it. Do something, run, walk, move!

Its hard when people bring the goodies into work. Its especially difficult when most of my co-workers (theres only 8 of us) do not need to count their calories or watch their fat intake .... lol. They mean so well by bringing it in too ! My b-day was last month and they knew I did not want cake so they bought me a veggie platter and stuck a candle in it ... we all had a good laugh over that one. AND there were no veggies left by the end of the day. We all enjoyed them !! emoticon

Hope the belly ache is gone by now! Thanks for sharing though, now we all know that you are still human and that Will Power is a fickle friend to you too. You had a really good reminder of why you don't eat things like danish; so, I am certain that you will be on track again until the next time Will Power, the fickle friend that he is, leaves you. With luck that will be never!

Hey there Skinny! A slip up here and there is okay so you don't slide into deprivation mode; so guilt be gone and move on. When I see delectables at work I repeat to myself over and over "sabotage" and go in the opposite direction! Good luck and feel better!

I think I've kicked a bad habit that I USED to have. EVERYtime I'd walk into one of the grocery stores here, the Bakery was the first thing I'd see and Blueberry doughnuts are my favorite sinful treat. And everytime, I'd get 3 cause, well, they were 3/1.00. I'd eat one and think that wasn't so bad, the 2nd one would make me crave milk to swallow it down and by the time I started eating the 3rd one, I had a diabetic headache, I could literally feel my sugars rising. I'm not sure exactly what made me have the power to stop doing that, but I still stare at them as I walk by - I just don't touch! I hope your day of 'stopping' comes soon! emoticon

We had muffins at work this morning. I ate half a one and will save the other half for tomorrow. But that's still lots of calories and I feel guilty for eating it. I had only a banana and a lean cuisine other than the muffin so I've done good so far. Will limit dinner to veggies. We have fresh squash from the garden so I can eat a lot of it as I love it. Along with another veggie it should fill me up. You slipped just a bit but forgive yourself and go on. emoticon

The Last Day

Monday, June 13, 2011

Today is the last official day of my daughter's high school career. Where has the time gone?

I got to YELL at my daughter one last time today, to... "get up and go to school". She hates it when I yell to her upstairs from the bottom of the stairs, she says my voice is so annoying in the mornings (imagine that). She is so glad I never have to yell upstairs to get her up to go to school again, so now I must find something else to annoy her with, lol.

It was a busy weekend of cleaning, grocery shopping and preparation. Getting everything ready for this weekends graduation party. I'm stressing, will be soooo glad to get it behind me, but it's really bitter sweet.... booooo hoooo, my baby is graduating.

My house is going to be so chaotic this week. Grandpa is coming down from NY, grandma is flying in from UT, so lots of things to do.

My daughter wanted a Mexican fiesta for her graduation party, complete with taco bar. Well, of course I had to agree to her wishes in that department, but I also wanted to put a healthy touch on the menu, in case others don't care for tacos. I ordered a 6 foot sub, a veggie tray and going to make some healthy pasta salad too. I have to save room for a piece of graduation cake, Lord knows I've earned it - with seeing and helping my baby get through high school. I think mom's should get some recognition too, not an easy task being a mom in this day and age.

Hope everyone has a productive, wonderful week.

A little emoticon for me - 1 more pound gone this week - hello 145 !!!

Congratulations to both you and your daughter! It really is very bittersweet, isn't it? I had my oldest daughter graduate from ODU and my son and other daughter graduate from Kellam all in the same year. I think that might be a record to have all your kids graduate at once - ha ha! We had a great party too. Have lots of fun and enjoy every moment. And definitely have that cake!

p.s. Way to go on another pound down!

Congratulations on surviving the high school year! You deserve a piece of cake, that is certain!

Now, as for finding a way to annoy your daughter? You are a Mother, you will manage easily. I have faith in you!

Is your daughter going to college? If so, Where?

I had one go to TCC then ODU and the other one went to Roanoke college in Salem, Va on scholarships! I always thought that the one who stayed home would be the one to go away to school and the one who went away would stay home! They fooled me!

This is the first time I've kept.....

Thursday, June 09, 2011

Yesterday was the first time EVER that I got to keep all my bday gifts.

Usually everyone buys the wrong size - too big or too small. Yesterday was so exciting. My daughter got me a pair of shorts - perfect fit. She also got me pajamas in a size SMALL - woo hoo. DH bought me some pajama jeans in a size SMALL - double woo hoo.

I have always dreaded getting gifts for my birthday and Christmas only because I always had the hassle of returning just about everything. I have always told ppl not to attempt to buy me clothes, but no one every listened.

I can't explain how great it felt to know that I didn't have to return anything, that my size is just about where I want to stay and that included a couple of size "SMALLS" - What a great birthday it turned out to be.

Thanks to all my SP buddies for the birthday wishes and for always supporting me. I wouldn't be wearing the "SMALLS" without ya.

Birthday Bash

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Today is my Birthday, but I shall refer to it as my 21st anniversary of my 21st birthday, and yes.... it started out with a bash, literally.

OMG, I'm so clumsy, I tripped this morning on my way out the door wearing my platform wedge heals and totally rolled my ankle. Owwiieeeeee. Iced it when I made it to work. Gonna be a great day, I can tell (SARCASM).

Anyhoo, the bossy sis and DH are cooking me dinner tonight - yeah, that's a great bday gift - NO COOKING !!!!!!!!!!

I was going for retail therapy at the mall for lunchtime today, but now I have to reconsider since the ankle is pretty swollen. I'll settle for a lunch in the office while reading my new edition of Runner's World.

For a mid-afternoon delight, we always have cake at 3:00 at work - I get to choose what kind of cake we are having - I'm thinking angel food cake topped with strawberries - trying to keep it on the healthy side so I can undo the ice cream damage from last week, lol.

Kinda cool that I got a birthday email from Sparkpeople - it said don't just count your years, make them count !!!!!!

I love the anniversary of your 21st birthday. I have used that for years but don't tell people which anniversary it is! I also tell people the the girls are my husband's by his first wife. I hate it when the girls are with us, role their eyes and say, "Mother, you are his first wife".

10 Exciting, Fun-Filled Days

Tuesday, June 07, 2011

I've been extremely busy these last 10 days. My BFF Teresa was staying with me for 10 fun-filled days. Here's some pics of what I have been up to.

My best friend of 17 years, Teresa.

My baby's high school senior prom and 18th birthday

Spent a lot of time at the pool, pool parties, the beach, Brad Paisley concert, Dairus Rucker concert - Just had a great time spending time together with my BFF and other friends too.

Just had to include one last pic - too cute for words, doesn't he look like he's smiling?
