I have to stop tonight on my way home from work to pick up race packet, I got a cool bid number: 2222
I've got a SEVERE case of the PRE-RACE JITTERS. I always get nervous the day before race day. I worry about what to eat for dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow, what time to get up, how I should dress, am I gonna have a good running day, is my ipod charged? Sheesh, all these things whirling around in my head. So I'm making a checklist now.....
Food: Dinner tonight - chicken, breakfast on race day - protein shake with banana
Wake up time: 5:30, we don't have to leave for race until 8:00, but that gives me plenty of time to get wide awake, have breakfast, allow for contingencies
Dress: Going all out with the Valentine theme - a new pink hoodie, boxer shorts with red lips all over them to wear overtop my running pants with my name on the back, socks that have hershey kisses and hearts on them and a festive red hair ribbon. YEAH, I go a tad overboard for theme races. Please do not call the fashion police.
Good Running Day: Weather is going to be great and I will do my very BEST. We have a strategy in mind, so hopefully it will all work out. Heck, i just want to finish this race, I've never run more than 7.5 miles, so this is gonna be a challenge.
Music: Ipod is fully charged and I created a new playlist - gotta have some motivational tunes to keep myself occupied for 9 miles.
Yes, I over analyze things, I'm nit picky at times, a little OCD, neurotic, etc. Oh well, that's just ME being ME !!
I tried coconut milk for the first time this morning, not too bad, but definitely something I'm going to have to get used to. I mixed if with my protein powder and some fruit to make a breakfast shake. I'm all about trying new things.
Two new things: 9 miles and coconut milk.

It's official, I am officially onboard the 140-ville train. I left 150-ville for good. I can't describe how awesome it feels to see ONE FOUR NINE on the scale. Only three pounds from goal of 100. It's so close I can see it.
Last night Sis and I did a pre-race run, we wanted to get in a long run before Saturday's race and have a day or so recovery in between. We ended up doing 7.5 miles last night and feeling great this morning. So we are as ready as we will ever be to run the VA is for Lovers 14K on Saturday, I'm sure we will finish it STRONG.
Woke up to two inches of SNOW on the ground this morning - ICK !!!!! This has been the freakiest weather I've ever seen. Yesterday was high 50, today 30 and two inches of snow, tomorrow chilly, but on Saturday gonna be mid 50's - perfect race weather, and Sunday 60's - gonna break out the motorcycle, heck yeah.
Kids have a snow day today, soooo lucky, just for today I wish I was a school teacher so I could have a day off too, but..... I'm at work, we're really busy so hopefully the day will fly by. My Sis is off today too, she was mopping kitchen floor at 6:00 a.m. when I left, that girl just rolls outta bed and starts doing something. You can never say she's ever idle- dang woman, what happened to sleeping late and making waffles around noon, lol. Looking forward to seeing a sparkling clean house and a scrumptious dinner when I get home. Thanks NeeCee, you take good care of me. Now if you could only make me get up in the mornings.

Last night I attended DIVA Night at our local running store, Running, Etc. It was a women only night, yeah - they served wine and had lots of veggies, fruit and cheese trays. I got a free chair massage, I got stretched by a sports therapist, got fitted for a sports bra and all ladies were treated to a 25% off everything sale. Well..... I didn't buy a darn thing. The only thing I was interested in was a pair of compression pants, however they were way out of my price range $115. For that price, they should be able to run for me, lol.
I also arranged to meet a fellow SPARKER there last night, ANITAGOODBODY. She is such a sweet lady and she had brought a couple of her SPARK friends with her (sorry the names slipped my mind). It was great to meet so many other runners. ANITAGOODBODY was kind enough to share her running tips with me, she has run several half-marathons and I was sooooo excited to hear all her stories. Its was my pleasure to meet such a super lady. She will also be running the 14K race this weekend, so I will look for her there.
They had a special sports bra fitting last night too. GR8CGRM got a really nice one, I decided to skip it since I really wanted to save the money and get my daughter a new one, so we will be going back there sometime soon.
Also discoverd a magic item... chaffing gel, its like a stick deodorant, you rub it on and it prevents chaffing - miracle stuff.
All in all, it was a great night of ladies fellowship, I got to meet some new friends. And to my surprise..... the average age of all the women in attendance last night was my age or a tad older. So nice to be in company with such awesome lady runners.
Way to go Running, Etc., will definitely attend any of your sponsored events, had fun.

It was a great weekend. I got great news, I'm going to be a grandma. My son and his girlfriend are having a baby - so happy for them. I am excited to be a first time grandma, but I hardly feel like a grandma, so the baby will call me Mimi, they are thinking baby is due first of October. She's going to doc sometime this week.
Sunday was DH birthday, I made him a pineapple upside down cake. It was my first time making it and it turned out great, thanks to my mother-in-laws excellent instructions.
We had family and friends over to watch the Superbowl. For all you PACKERS fans I am sure it was a great game, but as for us Steelers fans, well.... They just plain ole didn't deserve to win, we didn't play like a super bowl team. However, we still have the Steeler pride and we had a great weekend anticipating the game. Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and is off to a great start to a new week.
DH and I on Superbowl Sunday - sporting our jerseys - it was also DH bday - how cool is it for your bday to fall on Superbowl - well, only if your team wins, lol.
Better luck next year Steelers, and congrats to all the PACK fans out there (Jolie and Teresa), love yall anyway, hahaha.

Last night Sis and I decided we would go for a quick run before dinner, nothing too long, just a quick run to enjoy the gorgeous 70 degree, one day heat wave.
We started out with a 1/2 mile warm up and the wind was blowing so hard, so we decided to run a route that we wouldn't be running into the wind, well, it didn't quite turn out that way. We ended up running almost the whole way INTO the wind. It felt like we were running at what we thought was a great pace, but we were struggling into the wind. It's like we were running directly into a Category 2 hurricane and standing still. Seemed like we were running forever and getting absolutely nowhere.
Well, we just sucked it up and kept going, then towards the end of the run we decided to pick up the pace a bit - we were both wanting to be done just to get out of the wind. So we hurried the pace and lo and behold.... when I stopped the timer, we had run 5 miles in 48 minutes - sheesh, we were flying. I know that might not be great time for some runners, but for us it was a PR, we're getting better and faster.
What a great pace we were running, we both maintained, we both were comfortable. So last night's windy run turned into a little motivation boost for us both.... we CAN pick up the pace, YES WE CAN and we did. We were both feeling pretty great after that run.
Don't you always feel on top of the world and super energized after a great run? I LOVE THAT FEELING, there's nothing quite like it. Can't wait to run again tomorrow, but it's gonna be chilly, hopefully the wind will be non-existent.
