Prom Dress Shopping

Monday, January 17, 2011

Spent a couple hours on Saturday at "All the Rage" prom dress shopping with my daughter, such a lovely boutique with really nice people. This is her Senior prom and to top it all off, her 18th birthday is on the same day. She begged me to buy her a designer gown, she said she had to be a show stopper for prom, since it is her birthday too, and if you buy it from that store, they guarantee no one will be wearing that dress at your prom (how cool is that). I just couldn't resist when I saw her wearing this beautiful dress. She truly deserves it, she's a great kid, fantastic student and just all around wonderful (most of the time, lol).

My baby is growing up, she's turning into a young woman of beauty, sophistication and style, so the dress compliments her perfectly.
What do ya think?

Let the Savings Begin

Friday, January 14, 2011

I decided over New Years holiday to get organized and start saving money, so I started with grocery coupons. Last night I took my shopping lists and coupons and got some really good deals. Most of the stuff I don't eat, but the family does - gotta keep them happy even though I've turned into a health nut.

Two boxes of cereal, had a $1.00 off coupon and got a free box of granola bars
Razors - BOGOF
2 boxes of Taco shells and 2 seasoning mixes for $1.74
Total Spent = $20.28 a total SAVINGS of....... 18.57 emoticon

The money I'm saving will be put in my vacation fund for our upcoming trip to San Fran this summer. I think I might like this "couponing" thing.

Cool... I saw a show on "Strange Addictions" and they had some folks on there that took couponing to a whole new level. But, I am with you. Why not save if you can.

WTG!!! Do they still do double coupons? Wegman's did (back in NY) You can save an insane amount of cash! SanFran is awesome-have fun!

Great job! I have trouble with most coupons cause I eat real food (which I know you do too). I do try to eat seasonally, with the exception of say lettuce, bananas, avocados, those sorts of things -- for instance, I don't buy cherries & tomatoes generally in the winter! Buy em when they're cheaper & haven't traveled so far.

Working on my own spending habits.

Do you price match at Walmart?
I never did until we just moved to a tiny town with the other stores 35 miles one way. There is one store that has the best prices on produce that save me a ton. In fact on day the checker said that can't be right your getting to good of a deal. I told her double check and I waved the manager over sure enough. The extra money I use to buy things for the food bank.

Woohoo, what a bargain. I am trying to be more mindful about my spending this year too and really like the idea of putting my savings aside for a treat...will have to think about that one. Keep up the great work and have a wonderful weekend!

I've decided to try couponing myself. Even though I try to eat fresh foods & store brands, there are enough other items to use coupons on.

A Great Start and Something New

Thursday, January 13, 2011

emoticonA Great Start: Got up this morning at 4:15 to get my workout outta the way - P90X Kenpo is DONE, anything else today is X-tra - woo hoo.

Something New: A friend told me to mix protein powder in oatmeal for breakfast cuz I'm growing kinda tired of making chocolate smoothies, especially since it is soooooo cold outside. Well, I'm not a fan of oatmeal but I tried it anyway, I think I've found my new breakfast food of choice - kinda like the oatmeal, well the protetin powder was a tad overpowering so next time I'm gonna mix two packets of oatmeal with it instead of one. This is supposed to keep me FULL until lunchtime, chase away those morning hungries, so we will see if the oatmeal sticks to my gut and keeps me full.

Tonight: Coupon shopping at Target - yeah, for retail therapy, even if it's for grocery items. Gonna save a couple bucks - even better. A friend suggested I put the money I save in a jar to save for a great vacation, gonna try that. I'm all about a great vacation, especially going to San Fran this summer to see my BFF.

It's gonna be a emoticonday.

Great job on the exercise!! I do like some protein powder in my oatmeal but not too much 'cos then it gets a weird consistency. It makes a great warm, filling breakfast.
Yay for Target!!! One of my favorite places to shop. Great variety and since I have the Target card I get 5% off all the time.

I too have found working out that early is good because no one calls me then or comes to my door. Then it seems the rest of the day is all down hill. We eat Kasiha Go Lean as it has lots of fiber and protein in it. My husband doesn't love it but calls it the best cereal. emoticon

You are amazing. I couldn't do a workout at 4:15 if my life depended on it LOL. I am a night owl and my workouts are generally after 11:00 p.m. Quiet time for me. But whatever works right? Make sure to add a little fat to that oatmeal too along with the protein. Then you have the perfect meal, carbs, fat, protein - everything your body needs to repair and burn. You can add a tablespoon of chopped nuts to it or even mix some peanut butter in there. Yes, it's going to be an awesome day!

I use cashini instead of protein powder. Doesn't keep me full til lunch tho -- and even if it did, I've come to realize that I really need a morning snack.

Great job on getting that workout in early!

My Secret to Plyo

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Well it's NO secret that I absolutely hate the P90X plyo workout but when I got home last night I decided to try something different. I put the TV on mute and cranked up some upbeat tunes, made the workout go much easier and was actually FUN (did I just say FUN?) anyhow, the tempo of the music was a bit faster than the DVD so I think I got in quite a few extra hops, woo hoo, totally rocked it last night - Plyo DONE and the special secret is.... add some tunes, it makes the time leap on by, lol emoticon

Today things are back at a normal pace after my very stressful day yesterday. I seriously need a double dose of vitamin D - where are you sunshine?????? Please come back into my life, I need you. How many more days til Spring? emoticon

I am ready for sunshine too.

Afraid there are quite a few more days to spring. I could send you our snow, if you'd like.

Great job on rocking the pylo!

I do that with an ST program that I do now, where it's all on paper. Usually I do DVDs, but this one is pretty good and I just put on my Ipod & go for it.

Oh Soooooo Busy

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Gonna be a busy day at the office, gonna be CHAINED to my desk all day, probably have to work late, I'm under the gun on a hot deadline so I'm stressin just a tad. But I get to look forward to my PLYO workout tonight - NOT. That is the workout I dread the most, don't like it, hate it, but I am gonna suck it up and do it later tonight regardless of how I feel about it, so I have all day to worry about that too, emoticon

Hope everyone has a great day, and for those of you on a two hour delay because of icy rain this morning, hope you got a few extra winks of sleep, emoticon
LUCKY yall.

I actually like plyo but my knees aren't liking it right now. I miss it. It's good for the fast twitch muscles, though. You will love it when it's over because it burns a ton of calories.
I hope you don't have to work late tonight. Just breathe and do what you can.
