New Year, New Attitude

Good morning fellow sparkers. Today marks the day that I officially get back on track with tracking my food. I've been slacking the past week and I'm sure feeling it and the scale is reflecting it. So today, marks the official start of my new year, food wise. Started the year off right by running a 5K race on New Years Day, didn't do too bad, I will post pics, etc., later. Just wanted to jot my goals for the year on virtual paper so I can refer back to from time to time. To name a few....

Lose that last 4 pounds, plus 20 more this year
Run a half marathon
Complete P90X program for the second time
Run a race while on vacation in San Francisco this summer
6-pack ABs
Make one new recipe a month
Work on a grocery budget/coupon savings
Go to church on a regular basis
Work on "clean" eating

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays, now... BACK TO WORK !!!!!

    You can do all of this and more. Just start slowly adding things back in (I know...I'm doing it too).

    You can do it!!! I'm so proud of what you have accomplished thus far and know you'll make those 24 lbs.! I'm going to lose 24+ lbs. right along with you!

2011 miles in 2011 is my goal. Keep up with WW, too. It's going to be a good, good year! My new NordicTrack Elite 9500 Pro treadmill comes this week, too. Between the two (treadmill and treadclimber), I don't know how I can't make goal...unless I totally screw up the clean eating department. Not going to happen!

Let's kick some booty in 2011! Ours!

    Awesome - It's great to read because this morning I was thinking about my goals. This gives me a few for myself that I never would have thought of by myself.
That is one of the many reasons I miss Spark - because there are things we just need to be reminded of.

Back At It

It's good to be back, only been MIA for 4 days, but it seems like an eternity. I want to thank you for all the get well wishes and holiday "goodies". I am was thankfully feeling better Christmas Eve and was able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas with my family. Even got an extra day off yesterday due to a snowstorm - WOW, 13 inches in Virginia beach, that's almost unheard of. But back to the normal today - drove to work on a solid sheet of ice - glad to be back. Started my week off right, with a P90X workout, I got to use the Iron Gym santa brought me. YEAH, gonna get right back into the swing of things. Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, I am hopefully gonna catch up with all my SP buddies in the next few days, but in case I don't get too much spark time, thank you all again so much. Your friendship and support mean the world to me.

    Glad you were feeling good for the holiday and got to spend the extra time with the family. We here in az are expecting some winter weather all this week which should be fun. I am working up a sweat bringing in some wood for the fireplace. Keep up the great work and glad Santa was good to you!

    Glad you're back and feeling better! I should be back on a regular routine tomorrow. Have a somewhat normal work schedule now, and my stepson goes back home this afternoon. I am so jealous of your iron gym! Kick some butt!

    I am so glad to be retired. I drove on icy snow covered roads for years. Nothing was as bad as country school districts north of Des Moines. Once it took 2 hours to reach school. Now I can just watch that snow and exercise at home. emoticon

PS Keep up the great work. I am back on track thanks to sparkpeople like you.

    So glad to hear that you were able to enjoy the holidays. I know what you mean about getting back to "normal". The past 4 days felt like forever and getting back to being active and eating healthy on a schedule sure feels good!

Need to Feel Better

Still not feeling so hot, but I'm sure this can't last much longer, going on day 3. Last night I did manage to eat but regretted it soon after. Today is office potluck so I am sure I will just nibble.

I think the worse part about being sick is not feeling like doing anything. I am usally like the energizer bunny and my battery is definitely been run down with being sick. I am getting things done, but I am having to really push myself. Last night did the grocery shopping, thank goodness my sister went with me and took charge, cuz I was just kinda "there" and "didn't care".

Everything for Christmas is DONE, FINISHED. So today will concentrate on just making it through the day. I really want to feel better, I miss my workouts. I really want to do a few yoga sessions this week, I think all my exercise has really helped my holiday attitude. Things aren't quite as stressful and my daughter even made that comment to me the other day. She said "mom, you don't seem as stressed about Christmas as usual" - so I definitely took that to heart and really thought about what has changed. The Christmas hustle and bustle hasn't slowed down, still have to put out alot of money for gifts, family dinners, etc. - they all remain the same.

The change has come from a priority shift, I am 100% sure that it's due to good eating habits and regular exercise. This is just one more example of how SPARK has changed me. I owe my SPARK friends the world, for keeping me going and kicking me in the pants when I've needed it. You all have keep me going when I didn't feel like it and you all inspire me so much. I wish you the peace I've found this holiday season - Merry Christmas Sparkies !!!

I've been searching for the miracle answer on how to destress at Christmas for years and now I know.... quite simple really, eat right, exercise and surround yourself with positive people.

    Sending you get well vibes......... I think that there is no easy way around the holiday stress - I guess except how we handle it right?
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you - I miss my SP Buddy so much. I have been training on another job at work and working 12 hour days again. Next week will be the same so I will really be missing you and everyone by then. HOWEVER My thoughts are with ya and I am not gone forever. It's just a momentary thing.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday and will talk to you very soon.

    Be sure to take care of yourself to ensure a full recovery. This could be your bodies way of saying "it's time for a break", so listen and relax until you are well enough to continue your journey in a healthy manner.

    Merry Christmas to YOU!!! I've finally come to the stage in my life where I don't sweat the small stuff anymore. I am much more calm and relaxed than I used to be and I owe a lot of that to regular exercise and clean eating. Exercise is a great stress buster and you just feel so darned good afterwards!

Curb the Christmas Cravings

I finally figured out how to curb your appetite during the holidays, catch a stomach bug, funny, but not funny. I am still feeling horrible, didn't eat anything yesterday except saltines and gingerale. Same is on the menu today, whatever this is it's NOT fun. If I keep this up I certainly won't be sampling any holiday goodness that's for sure. Hoping tomorrow will be better, I still have to go food shopping for Christmas dinner fixings.

I am so bummed I've been slowed down by this bug, but I'm looking at the silver lining, I will definitely be good to my body during the holidays, no junk and sweets for me.

Hope everyone is managing to get the last minute stuff accomplished before Saturday, what is still left on your "to do" list?

Holiday Illness is ahead of schedule

It never fails that someone in the family is always sick on a holiday. When the kids were little, it was always one of them and now it's my turn, but luckily it is before Christmas. I have some kind of tummy bug.

It started on Friday night, just not really feeling up to par, Saturday came around, sill feeling like a slug and then yesterday, I could hardly eat. Was up on and off last night - yuck. Today is worse, but I had to come into work today since I already have to miss a couple hours this week for my daughters doc appt.

Definitely not feeling like eating at all, but I think I going to get back to basics - either an all liquid diet or the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). One good thing, thank heavens, is that this is recovery week for P90X, which means I won't have to hit the workouts as hard - timing was perfect on that since being sick and trying to workout really doesn't mix.

The silver lining is that I will get this over with before Christmas and hopefully everyone will be well in my household for the big day on Saturday. Hoping for a better tomorrow.

    Feel better soon! When I have a stomach bug is about the only time I eat white rice -- and it really does do the trick.

    This is common in my house too. Every year for 20 years(since my middle child was born and she will be 20 in Jan.) she is either sick on Christmas or her birthday Jan. 8th (or both) and then it goes threw the family. This year she started it 2 weeks ago- brought home a cold, then another daughter had it, then my son, then hubby, and now me. Hopefully I will be over it by Saturday and it won't circulate back threw the family.
