Holiday Illness is ahead of schedule

Monday, December 20, 2010

It never fails that someone in the family is always sick on a holiday. When the kids were little, it was always one of them and now it's my turn, but luckily it is before Christmas. I have some kind of tummy bug.

It started on Friday night, just not really feeling up to par, Saturday came around, sill feeling like a slug and then yesterday, I could hardly eat. Was up on and off last night - yuck. Today is worse, but I had to come into work today since I already have to miss a couple hours this week for my daughters doc appt.

Definitely not feeling like eating at all, but I think I going to get back to basics - either an all liquid diet or the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). One good thing, thank heavens, is that this is recovery week for P90X, which means I won't have to hit the workouts as hard - timing was perfect on that since being sick and trying to workout really doesn't mix.

The silver lining is that I will get this over with before Christmas and hopefully everyone will be well in my household for the big day on Saturday. Hoping for a better tomorrow.

Feel better soon! When I have a stomach bug is about the only time I eat white rice -- and it really does do the trick.

This is common in my house too. Every year for 20 years(since my middle child was born and she will be 20 in Jan.) she is either sick on Christmas or her birthday Jan. 8th (or both) and then it goes threw the family. This year she started it 2 weeks ago- brought home a cold, then another daughter had it, then my son, then hubby, and now me. Hopefully I will be over it by Saturday and it won't circulate back threw the family.
Stay well and have a wonderful Christmas.

Thank Goodness it's Friday, been a long week. Looking forward to date night tonight - dinner and finishing up our Christmas shopping. Tomorrow a 4 mile run, provided it's not snowing and then a quiet evening at home, wrapping gifts. Gonna be a quiet, peaceful weekend, gonna get in a yoga workout on Sunday morning. Ahhhhh, relaxing weekend ahead. I'm gonna be watching my food a little more closely on the weekends, scale has ceased to move for a while, I'm not overeating on the weekends, I am just not meticulous like I am during the week - hoping this will help the scale move, only 4 pounds till goal, and it's taking forever, time to amp it up, can't wait to get there. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I'm with you! My week hasn't really been all that hard, it just feels that way . . . winter is wearing me down already, I swear! And it hasn't even officially begun!

Sounds like a nice weekend to recharge your batteries. I'm with you on getting to goal -- now if I could just get rid of the munchies today . . .

It does get harder and harder to lose weight the closer you get to your goal. Keeping an more watchful eye on the weekend food should help.
Have a great run tomorrow (I'll keep my fingers crossed for now snow).
Have fun on your date night...that's a nice thing to do.
I may be joining you in yoga on Sunday and I plan to run Saturday... we must be twins ;-)

Hit a Wall

Thursday, December 16, 2010

I went home last night in hopes of getting a really fantastic workout. I put in the P90X DVD and it seems I've hit a wall. The workout is no longer a challenge. I need to get some heavier weights, I am still enthusiastic about finishing the program, but guess my muscles need more of a challenge. Soo.....Santa please bring me some heavier weights for Christmas please.

I never in a million years dreamed I would want fitness equipment and workout gear for Christmas. emoticon

Hey if Santa doesn't bring you new weights for Christmas, try the 2nd hand sporting goods places & pawn shops. We have something called Play it Again Sports & it has every piece of exercise equipment and sports things ever made. Lots & lots of different weights. I bought mine there.

I Fought the Cheesecake and .....

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

I WON !!!!! Only took three bites of this fresh blueberry cheesecake, oh my. I have a lot left over, gonna finish it one bite a day, so it should last til Friday. How's that for having your cake and eating it too, lol. Sheer willpower.

A couple bites can be just as satisfying as the whole piece. Hope everyone is practicing willpower and moderation during the holidays. We can do it !!!!

    Oh my, that looks delish!

I can't do just a couple of bites . . . I can leave a couple of bites. Thankfully, we actually have no parties to go to -- the rewards of being anti-social!

And oh yeah, the dogs absolutely hate getting their paws wet. I've even tried the booties, but until I find some that actually stay on . . .

Office Christmas Luncheon Today

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Today is our Christmas Luncheon, we are going to McCormick and Schmick's - nice place. One of the perks of being office administrator, you get to pick the place, YEAH for me!!! Lots of healthy food on the menu to choose from, not a junk food buffet. So todays lunch will be FANTASTIC. No overeating, No temptation - a temptation free zone, unless I order dessert, NOT !!!!!!! emoticon

Hope everyone is finding great, healthy choices at your holiday parties.

Awesome - That is smart. We are having a christmas potluck and everyone is bring in mostly healthy food. It is something we started about 2 years ago. Fruit trays, veggie and relish trays, lean meats for snacking on - stuff like that. It's really great to have people in the office on board with the healhty eating.
