It's Monday, AGAIN???

Monday, November 15, 2010

Ugh, mondays. I hate them but I love them, time to get back into the routine. Started off this morning without my workout, but it was well worth it to hit that snooze to finish a grrrreeeattt dream I was having. Isn't it great when you wake up from a dream and then you go back to sleep right where you left off? Glad I got to finish it up - great start to my week, except now feeling guilty about not working out, but will have to do it tonight when I get home.

I have officially switched into my annual HOLIDAY STRESSING mode - I have to finish 90% of my shopping by this weekend as we are heading to WV next Tuesday for Thanksgiving and we always celebrate Christmas while we are there. On a good note, my shopping will be done which allows time for festive, fun things during the month of December. But time just crept up on me, WOW, next week is really Thanksgiving. I better get a move on, should have been shopping alot earlier but it's really hard to be in a shopping mood prior to Thanksgiving.

I really need to get my workouts in this week, need the extra stress relief and this week will complete 3 weeks of P90X so looking forward to being in recovery phase next week for a little break. Been hitting it hard and have to just survive this week of torture, then a break. Gotta step up the running so I can do the 5K on Thanksgiving. Always a challenge - I love it.

Happy Monday everyone.

Hello,
I know exactly what you mean....lol. I love shopping but, this year I am being cut back says my daughter. I can only buy them one gift and a gift certificate from the grocery store. What a bummer! She finally agreed to let me buy my grandsons some extra gifts....lol. I wish I was there to help you as I said, I love shopping!!!

I know you will get it all done! Hannukah is early this year -- starts at the beginning of Dec. But it's not as big a deal.

Yup, those workouts will actually help channel some of that stress. Just talked to my folks, and we will be going there for Thanksgiving, so now I have to figure out if there will actually be enough time for me to do the turkey trot. It's a 90 minute drive, and we'll bring the dogs, so that makes it take more time trying to get all their stuff togetherl.

I hear you on the HOLIDAY STRESS - it's crazy how much stress one day can create! I totally agree that keeping up with the workouts is the best stress relief.
Have a fantastic day!!

It's funny how Monday just sneaks up on you, isnt' it?
Try not to stress to much with the shopping. At least you know that you'll be done with it.
You're doing an awesome job on the P90X. You'll make it through this week because you know you've got your recovery coming up next week. It will help you with the stress as will any running you do.
Have a fabulous Monday!!

Ugh - HOLIDAY STRESS. I've been thinking about it too and it's starting to hit me as well. I haven't even started shopping and am scared. Have no idea what I am going to get.
You ROCK it - 3rd week of P90X. Great job. That's awesome. I will someday be able to say I have completed it too. This jut motivates me to want to try it again and finish it. I have made it into week 5 but things happened and yep I have no more excuses.
Have a great day and Bring it tonight.

Super Saturday

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Wishing everyone a Super Saturday, gonna be a great one here in VA Beach. Weather is gonna be perfect for our high school football playoff game this afternoon. Go Dolphins.

Did my morning workout - P90X yoga, I am still so sore from doing so many P90X push-ups yesterday. Didn't realize there were so many different styles of push-ups, I don't think they missed any that's for sure. I have definitely found that push-ups are a great weakness of mine, but before it's all over, I'm gonna be the push-up master, lol.

Having mongolian chicken for dinner, yummy. My daughter is taking her niece and nephew to the sold out Justin Bieber concert tonight, glad it's her and not me. Thousands and thousands of screaming tweenies. Glad those days are over for me, but excited the grandkids get to experience the fun things in life. They've got Bieber fever.

Gonna enjoy some hubby alone time tonight, all the kiddies will be gone tonight - woo hoo !!!!!! Doesn't happen very often so looking forward to a quiet evening with hubby and my mongolian chicken. Ahhhh, the simple things in life. What fun are YOU enjoying today?????

DH is in Dallas for a Boy Scout reunion but will be back tonight; probably tired but happy from seeing all his old Boy Scout friends. I thought they should wear their uniforms in adult sizes but no one would listen to me emoticon

I'm going to dinner with friends near the Riverwalk so a walk down there may be in the cards.

Enjoy your alone time with hubby!

Well I'm headed to a high school football playoff game! (Go Chargers!!) I'm kind of nervous because it's my son's first game back since his knee surgery. (My stomach is queasy thinking about that!) He's fine and totally rehabbed but I'm just a nervous mom!! He's headed to Pitt on a full football scholarship so I wanted him to stay out for the rest of the HS season. I figured he could FULLY recover and be well prepared for his college career! Oh, well!

Later I'm headed to dinner to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. BEFORE going to dinner though, I am heading out for a quick 2 mile jog. NO ANDs, IFs or BUTs about that!!

Enjoy your quiet time with your hubby!! smooches...

Those pushups can really get to you. We had a 25 push ups a day challenge in the JM Sparkers Team last month and I got to be able to do 25 standard without stopping no problem. Just keep working on them.
Mongolian chicken sounds quite tasty...Hmm....maybe we'll have Chinese for dinner..maybe not I haven't even had breakfast yet ;-)
Yes, you should be glad you're not going to the Justin Bieber concert. I can only imagine what a madhouse that's going to be. Probably not full of pot smokers like most of the concerts I've been to.
Have a great evening enjoying the time with your Husband.
We're going to see if I can get some new running shoes. Then we're going to the new Whole Foods to pick up some stuff. Hopefully not too crazy there. Just a relaxing evening alone with my Husband. It should be a good day.

More Food Please - NOT

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

I've been seriously eating myself to death or so it seems. I have increased my workouts to 3500 calories per week, which is great, I'm feeling awesome. But with the added workouts, my calorie intake has increased dramatically. I was acustomed to eating a minimum of 1200 -1500 calories a day, now my minimum is 1700-2000, WOW, that's a lot more food.

It seems I am eating constantly, all day long, Do you know how many veggies snacks it takes to make 1700? ALOT. I am just soooo tired of eating all day long, I need to eat more at my meals but my stomach is just not that big, I don't like to eat til I'm miserably full. I'm eating all the right things (lots of fruits, veggies, lean meats) but I am sooo miserably stuffed and constantly shoveling it all in.

Anyone out there have this problem???? and what's the solution????

I've got a friend who is a runner and is naturally VERY thin. She's always trying to avoid losing weight and/or trying to put weight on. Her solution? Good fats from things like nut butters (coconut butter is AMAZING)and other foods that are calorie dense in comparison to portion size. She's a vegan, like I am, so eats a lot of low-calorie fresh veggie and fruits. Another good option is dried fruit. It's not as filling as fresh and the calories are more concentrated without it being a junky choice.

Nuts, seeds, nut butters, coconut, dried fruit - all things I wish I could eat more of myself! LOL. A lot of calories in a little, nutrient dense, not overly bulky package.

Truly, it's just never a problem that I have. And remember that those are guidelines, so just watch what happens & see if it's really the right amount for you.

Oh, and of course avocado is high in fat, but the good fat -- I'd eat a whole avocado easily if I could!

I sometimes have this problem. I don't force myself to eat if I am not hungry. I listen to my body-if I am hungry, I eat, and then I eat until I am full.

HEALTHY_45 11/10/2010 12:19PM

WOW that's a real dilemma, I can't say that I have that problem. I have increased my exercise to 2000 cal per week and I'm finding that some days I'm extremely hungry.
I do agree with some of the others who suggest PB, healthy fats and other nuts, all are healthy high calorie options. However, they may over load your fat calories if you try to incorporate all of them.
You are doing so awesome, you obviously are doing alot of things right!!

I usually mix up a protein shake - Whey Protein Isolate. With water, it's only about 100 calories and with skim milk, it's about 180 calories. It keeps me satisfied for awhile.

I also do "intuitive eating" - basically, eat 'till you are "satisfied", but do not eat 'till you are "full".

Of course, if you are losing pounds, I'd just keep on doing what you're doing. ;-)

Yep, the PB is a good idea. Also adding in healthier fats (like olive oil, nuts, or avocado) would bring that calorie count up.

POLKADOTREVIVAL 11/10/2010 9:37AM

Add peanut butter to your snacks. Melty PB and toast at night is soo good.
Otherwise, I suggest snacking on trail mix or eating some red meat? That's usually higher in calories. You could get 2% cottage cheese and drink more milk, too.

MZSLYDE01 11/10/2010 9:10AM

Wow - Wish I had that problem. HMMMM Something to work for - A GOAL IT SEEMS.
I say add higher calorie veggies into the mix like Avocado
And of course there is always Peanut Butter and Nuts. Unless you already have those into the mix - Then I don't know. I would hate to say eat high calorie crappy stuff because that is out of the question.
This is a good problem to have I think.
Hee hee hee
Oh by the way - I meant to say Congratulations yesterday for the Steelers win on Monday but forgot - So CONGRATS - way to go Steelers. emoticon
Also did you pick up some hummus yesterday - Was wondering if you ended up eating any and if you liked it?

Well, what an interesting problem to have! I don't have any suggestions because I am a newbie who would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to have this problem! hmmm... I wouldn't know what to do if I had a hard time reaching my calorie intake for the day. Right now, I have a hard time not going WAY OVER the allotted daily calories!

Listen to your body. If it doesn't want all that food, then don't give it all that food. Also, you might want to try to work in a little bit of higher calorie, lower bulk foods to keep within your caloric range.
