Trendy Shoes, Part 1

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

I have been in the shopping mood lately and have bought a few things that are "outside of my box". Today is a new skirt with some new shoes (shoes are borrowed from my ever so trendy daughter).
Trying to be in-style and hip, what do ya think??????

Wait till you see tomorrow's attire - it's WAY, WAY, WAY outta my box... stay tuned.

Love the shoes! Can't wait to see tomorrow's photo!

And stop me before I buy more shoes . . . I keep searching for something to wear around the house that is comfortable but not hideous, and I keep running into something else and then I buy it. So I walk around the house in my slippers!

Found Em

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Found my car keys, after we searched the living room and the den, meaning dumping couches over, searching every nook and cranny. I even checked in the refrigerator and freezer, I was really reaching for the "not so obvious" because I certainly couldn't fathom where they could be.

Found them in my little purse. I always downsize my purse for the weekends, a Vera just big enough to hold my wallet, keys and cell phone. Well I did check it when I was looking on Sunday but the keys were shoved down in a pocket. Hubby was a little ticked, no very ticked, since he had just went through the trash cans - sorry honey.

What a relief, sheesh. emoticon

A new day today without the stress of missing keys, but a new stress.... dummy light in my new car came on "service air bag", so now I have to call the dealer and probably take it in, does it ever end?

On a positive note, I walked at lunch yesterday, was kinda tough since my chest is still very congested, got winded really fast. This has got to go away, I have a race in 10 days. Despite my crazy world, I'm still eating right and exercising (somewhat) cuz I'm still not feeling to swift. Hopefully all my SP buddies are working extra hard to make up for my slacking. Gonna get back at it, as soon as I can, I need to feel better.

Hey! I commented on your other blog before I read this one and dang I'm good! I said I usually find my keys in my purse and voila! I am just that dingy sometimes. Pisses my honey off!

emoticon ... in a nice way, of course!

    Glad you found them!

Take it easy. You'll do better in your race if you rest up now. Your muscles really won't forget that quickly.

I lose stuff like that ALL the time, only to find that they were exactly where I had looked about a dozen times. How I miss them? I have NO idea, but the house usually gets cleaned in the process.

Glad you found them. Losing keys is frustrating. You just can't give up. There is a concern to find them that is so driving. Maybe there is a lesson there for other concerns in our life too.

Just sit down for a while because it is someones turn.

OMG - LOL about the keys. I know it sucks but it sounds like me alot. Glad you found them.
I hope you start feeling better. It sucks not feeling good and trying to stay healthy.
Stupid vehicles - I just got back one of our vehicles after paying $245.00 to get it ready for vacation and then my truck's driver window broke and wouldn't roll up - Had to take that in yesterday after work to get it fixed. Another $200 for that - I just about died when it happened. I told my husband - I don't think I can take anymore things happening to us.
We sure need some good things to happen now for awhile.
I am calling on the ___ GOOD LUCK VIBES TO COME OUR WAY ______

Losing it is a bad thing

Monday, October 18, 2010

Ok I'm losing it and it's a bad thing. Not pounds of course, but my mind. I have totally lost my mind. Has anyone seen my car keys?????? the last time I remember having them was Saturday, I am going crazy outta my mind. We looked for about an hour last night, I've called all the places I shopped on Saturday and NO Keys. So tonight, we are going to tear the house down until we find them. Oh help me.

Dear Fairy Godmother:

Please grant me this one wish.... Please make my car keys appear on the kitchen counter where they are supposed to be. Thank you.

A mind is a terrible thing to be lost, yikesssss !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Momma/Daughter Duo

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Last night's women's self defense class went well. My daughter (KP) was complaining the whole way there that she changed her mind, she was too scared to do it, didn't want to do it and that it was dumb. Well, secretly, I was a little nervous too, not knowing what to expect. It helped that there were some familar faces there. We were perfectly matched up with people our own ages. I was paired with my co-workers wife and my daughter was paired with his 17 year old son. I think I might have even saw her blushing a little, lol.

We learned how to break out of 5 different holds. It was taking me a long time to remember which move went with what, but KP was killing it. She was picking it up a lot faster than dear ole mom. I think it helped having people there her age. Anyhoo, we learned some valuable stuff, and she couldn't wait to get home to try some of her new moves on her dad, I even tried one too. He didn't think I could break away from him, but S U R P R I S E, momma paid attention in class.

KP is really excited now and can't wait to go back. This will really make you laugh.... She asked if she could get a karate uniform, they aren't required, but she wants to look the part so I said yes, maybe in a couple weeks. She said "I wonder if they come in pink" - I nearly choked to death laughing cuz I'm still kinda croopy from this bug. Can you imagine, a pink karate uniform, only my future fasion designer daughter could come up with that one.

Can't wait til next weeks class. Did you know it only takes 5 pounds of pressure to snap someone's elbow and 15 pounds to snap their knee - Ki ai emoticon Look out, she's a lethal weapon in training.

Women's Self Defense

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Feeling a little better today, just not quite up to par. Started the Mucinex today, cuz this sinus crud has now settled in my chest. Hopefully, will be 99% better tomorrow, I'm really missing my workouts, it's killing me to come home and plop on the couch and read, but honestly, I haven't felt like moving. Hopefully today will show marked improvement. I have to suck it up and go to class tonight, it's our first one, so I can't miss it.

emoticonI enrolled my daughter and I in a women's self defense class at a local karate studio. I wanted to make sure my baby girl knew how to defend herself since she will be going away to college next year and mommy won't be there to protect her. I think all young ladies (and women) should take these classes, ya never know when you may be confronted by a stranger in a parking lot, someone trying to take your purse or even date rape. Want my baby to be aware of these situations and know the best way out of them. So I volunteered to go with her to the classes, to keep her motivated (wink, wink). Who knows, we both may end up liking martial arts. Will report tomorrow. Til then.... Hope all my SP buddies are working out extra hard this week just for me, since I can't.

What a great idea, and it sounds like fun! My parents always said they weren't worried about me, because I'm so mean that my attacker would be the one in the hospital by the end of things, rofl! I did learn a few self defense moves in the Army, but like someone else said, if you don't continually train, you forget it. So, keep practicing what you learn so that it's second nature.
Before we got a handgun, my hubs made me keep a hitch wrench (big, heavy, easy to grab) between the driver's seat and the door, so that I could easily whack someone if necessary. And pepper spray in the purse, lol. (He scares easily.)

I think it's awesome that you signed her and yourself up. You're right; women do need to know how to protect themselves. An ounce of prevention...
Hope you feel better soon!! Have a good day despite the crud in your chest.

That's awesome! I always feel like if somebody tried to attack me, I'd just pull the Chalene kick, punch and jam on them. Maybe do one on their groin. Just sayin'. emoticon

Hope you feel better soon. If it makes you feel any better, I've had the sinus stuff over three weeks now. The crap just won't go away!!! Maybe next week...maybe.

You NEED that rest right now. Take it, don't sweat it.

I am so impressed you signed your daughter up for that AND that you're going with her.

DH & I took a self defense course several years ago in Austin . . . not sure how much I really remember from it. That's the biggest problem, you gotta keep training.
