Oh the Surge - Toby Keith

Tuesday, October 05, 2010

We made up for a crappy start yesterday to our training.
So for Day 1.... we did a 4 mile easy run - it was a tad chilly, but it was great, we were hardly tired at all - I am finding the more I run, the more I realize that I am probably better at distance running than fast running - we shall see.

Something about going out the door first thing in the morning when it's cold, does not appeal to me. My sis and I decided we are going to do our P90X in the mornings so we can stay in the nice, warm house - yes, we are spoiled, and we will do our runs before dinner.

Today - Day 2.... We went for a 2 mile run this morning, focusing on interval training - 30 second surges/8 reps - let me just say this was a quick two miles, but certainly felt like we had a great workout. And tonight it's P90X legs and Ab ripper.

Yes, I know I just said we were gonna switch it up, but I am donating blood today at lunch and didn't want to over exert myself this evening with a run, so lower body/abs before dinner tonight. Dinner is already in the crock pot - yummm, salsa chicken - so all I have to do is whip up some rice and a veggie and we can eat at a reasonable hour.

Feeling much better today, knowing we are on schedule. And....

TODAY, new TOBY KEITH Bullets in the Gun is released on I-Tunes - He's my favorite hunk of country music. Love em, Love em, I'm downloading it now - GET YOURS too !!!!

Hope everyone has a day filled with SPARKles.

I am madly in love with him. I think he is so sexy. Everytime I am listening to my IPOD/iPhone & his picture pops up with one of his songs....I smile. LOL. Especially the Trailerhood pic. Thanks for the info.

Supper sounds yummy and I totally agree, Toby is YUMMY too!!
Isn't it great to hava a workout partner that keeps you focused? I have one too and without her I wouldn't have even gotten this far.

    Salsa chicken? emoticon!!!

I hear ya on the cold dreary mornings coming up! I hate it! I hate cold weather! Time to hit the treadmill in the basement or some dvds! I LOVE fall, but HATE winter!

PS: I'm a distance runner, too. emoticon

I'm a morning person. I NEVER want to go out that door early -- cold, hot, perfect, whatever -- but I know how good I'll feel if I do so I just do it.

By the evening, I'm wilting. As it gets darker & colder, tho, I'll have to figure something out.

Great job!

Weekend wasn't a total WASH

Monday, October 04, 2010

Saturday was glorious - 5 mile run first thing, then off to see our high school whip their rival - sun was shining, high of 70, ahhh so nice. Then the grandkids came over to spend the night, they helped us mow the lawn. Then we made homemade pizza, enjoyed playing a board game called Imagineiff, had ice cream and watched a lame movie, Furry Vengenance. I wanted my dollar back for that movie, I rented it from the Red Box, and even a dollar was toooooo much for that movie, really stunk.

Sunday, rain, ugghhhh - cleaned house, watched Steelers get beat, man we need Big Ben back, homemade spaghetti, listened to the rain. SICK of RAIN, SICK of RAIN. So just a lazy day.

Then to start off our first day of training - we had a run planned for this morning and upper body tonight - and guesss what? RAIN, RAIN, so no run this morning, will do it before dinner tonight though, the rain will be gone, so we only skipped the upper body, but I guess we have to work around the weather. Still wished today would have started GREAT, but oh well, can't get discouraged on Day 1. And... I forgot to put the ckn in the slower cooker for dinner, so going to stop and get everyone a delicious salad, so no cooking tonight leaves lot of time for training,

My start to the week was a little shaky, but on a positive note: I am wearing a new blouse I bought in the Junior's Department - WOOO HOOOOO and it's my fav color - PURPLE, with a new necklace and earrings to match - feeling sassy in the new outfit. Hope everyone has a great start to the week.

5 mile run?! You're awesome. Don't worry about this week not starting off how you wanted, you'll get it together and it will all work out. Sounds like you had a good weekend and emoticon on your junior's top!

I think your weekend sounded nice...except for the rain. Homemade pizza? Yum! I had a pretty good weekend, too, for a change. You should post a pic of you in your new blouse and accessories. I love purple! Nice way to start the week. (I wore black and beige...boring!)

See ya 'round! I am going to do some Turbo Fire or P90X tonight. Can't wait!

Oooh, gotta see the new outfit; I love purple too!

It was supposed to rain yesterday but didn't here -- was actually quite a nice day but we didn't get a whole lot done anyway.

There's a fair amount of rain forecast for this week, tho.

Thanks so much for all your support! I'm still a bit in shock, frankly, still don't quite know how I did that. I think starting in the middle of the pack, rather than the back -- with faster runners -- helped me to push myself more.

My hamstrings are actually a bit sore -- nothing horrible, just letting me know they're there -- and that's never really happened after a run before, so I know I was pushing it!

School Delays

Thursday, September 30, 2010

emoticonI was so shocked to turn on the news this morning and see that a lot of schools were on two-hour delay because of torrential rain. Yes, it's been raining here since Sunday. Five straight days of rain. Today is the worst: torrential rain, flash flooding and a tornado watch until 1:00 p.m. today, and wouldn't ya know it, I left my umbrella at home, dang it.

I have seriously never heard of officials closing schools for rain. For hurricanes and nor'easters maybe, hmmm, guess they wanted to be on the safe side.
The storm is gonna blow on outta here tonight and we can enjoy some low 70's and sunshine for a week, yeah. emoticon Gorgeous fall weather ahead. emoticon

So for tonight, it's a treadmill run again. emoticonOhhh, I need some fresh air.

I flew over the area this morning. It was a rough ride at 38,000 ft. for the troops returning for r and r. Things will be drying out and you'll be running on the beach again soon.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of rain. We havent had much here this summer, at least not at my house. Not sure if that is a good thing of not as I didnt have any trouble with weeds this summer, but guess things are a bit dry. We had another day of record high temps here today...where is fall? Dont have AC in my car and was our running errands in the height of the heat and ended up taking a nap when I finally got home. One good thing though is I got in and logged my food for the first time in a long time. Want to get back to it and make that a priority so that I can better track what I am doing. Am off to jump on the bike for a bit. You are still inspiring me to keep this going. Thanks!! emoticon

I was out in some of that torrential rain this morning to pick up my race packet . . . oh the things we do to run! I was already out for my WW meeting, didn't know that you could pick up the packets ahead of time but found out from one of the meeting members (who I'm gonna meet up with on Sat.), so figured I might as well get it out of the way.

Gonna rain tomorrow, then race day ought to be perfect! Crossing my fingers & visualizing the heck out of it.

Hoping to get to swim tonight even if it does rain . . . but doing a treadmill run in a little while anyway.

Boobs and a Pink Ribbon

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

I'm having my yearly mammogram today - I don't normally share such personal information with all of cyberspace but I wanted to STRESS the IMPORTANCE of it.

My dear friend PW was diagnosed with breast cancer during the spring and is going thru chemo/radiation treatments and my sister-in-law is a breast cancer survivor.

"The best protection is early detection". So ladies, do a self breast exam every month and have a mammogram, don't delay.

And... support the pink ribbon - wear one, buy one, donate to breast cancer research, etc. Support and save the ta-tas. Think pink.

I lost my mother after a 0 year battle to breast cancer this June, she was just 63, but can't get screened as I am "too young at 47".
So just self checks until screening age of 50.

Good luck today, I support the cause as much as I can.
