Boobs and a Pink Ribbon

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

I'm having my yearly mammogram today - I don't normally share such personal information with all of cyberspace but I wanted to STRESS the IMPORTANCE of it.

My dear friend PW was diagnosed with breast cancer during the spring and is going thru chemo/radiation treatments and my sister-in-law is a breast cancer survivor.

"The best protection is early detection". So ladies, do a self breast exam every month and have a mammogram, don't delay.

And... support the pink ribbon - wear one, buy one, donate to breast cancer research, etc. Support and save the ta-tas. Think pink.

I lost my mother after a 0 year battle to breast cancer this June, she was just 63, but can't get screened as I am "too young at 47".
So just self checks until screening age of 50.

Good luck today, I support the cause as much as I can.

October's Fitness Plan, Get-Er-Done

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Sis and I are gearing up for the big 10K at the end of October and we are going to incorporate some P90X (X) in addition to some hardcore daily running training. We are kicking it up a knotch. Running in the morning at a new wake up time of 4:15 a.m. with X or other exercise at night (before dinner). Here's the plan...

Mon = 30-40 min run / upper body X
Tues = 60 second sprints (8-10 reps) / lower body X
Wed = 30-50 min run / upper body X and Ab ripper or kickboxing
Thurs = 10-20 min fast run (5-10 reps) / lower body X or kickboxing
Fri = Walk / Ab Ripper / Yoga or Fun (Wii)
Sat = Long Run starting at 80 minutes working up to 110 minutes by Oct 18 / Yoga
Sun = Walk / lower body X / Ab Ripper

No excuses, no complaints, just flat out going to "get-er-done" !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who's with me ??????

The Blah's

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

I have the Monday blah's and it's Tuesday. Raining outside (AGAIN), emoticonjust want to go back home, put on my jammies and crawl back in bed and nap all day. emoticon

But here in the real world, gotta work all day emoticon

On a positive note: dinner is already done for tonight, just have to heat it up and I have body sculpting class at 6:00, that will definitely perk me up and take away the blahs, now if I can just make it till 6:00. Hurry up 6:00 emoticon

Hope everyone feels a ray of SPARK today, even in the rain.

NO MORE BLAHS - Blahs Blahs Go Away and Don't Come Back Some Other Day.
I was slammed again today at work. Tomorrow I smell FREEDOM BABY. My co-worker will be back.
I know that probably doesn't cheer you up but it does me and I am sending those vibes your way.

I actually lay in bed this morning dreading going out because I knew it would be cold. What was I thinking? It was gorgeous and I completely warmed up 3/4 mile into my run.

Have fun with body sculpting. I am definitely looking forward to yoga tonight!

It's raining here too. Does make me want to curl up & do nothing!

But I will do stuff. We'll have lots of time to do nothing when we're gone, right?

The Big Race Weekend is Officially DONE

Monday, September 27, 2010

Had a fairly decent race on Saturday, weather was great. I was a little disappointed with my time of 34.02 but hey, I finished 12 out of 28, not too bad for my first "kinda serious" attempt, and I was holding back a bit, I didn't want to wear myself out early in the race. My sis finished 4 out of 25 with a time of 31.24, she totally rocked it, just a tad shy of her goal, but she'll get it next time. And my SIL did pretty terrific too, even though he dusted me the last block, he finished 10 seconds ahead of me. Now it's on to training for the BIG 10K race.

My sis, me and Danny before the race

Runners take your mark

Almost there

Crossing the finish

I'm done

We did it

Woo Hoo

I got to share it all with my BFF, we hung out at the beach after the race for the parade and then on to a celebration dinner with Hubby.

Thanks to all those who have encouraged me and supported me.

I am so very proud of you! I want to run a race, too. I'll have to start with a 5K in order to learn the ropes, but a half marathon would be great next year. XOXO

GREAT job! I would be overjoyed with that time! You are a gazelle, after all. To me, anyway! My goal for this weekend is 35 minutes. I'm not really sure I am capable of it, but I keep visualizing it!

You look so determined!

My Running Coach

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

My sister and I have been running together for a while now, she is really getting fantastic at it. As for me, I just kinda tag along, I have good days and bad days. So I am hoping this Saturday's 5K will be a great one for both of us, but mostly I hope she sets her record she's aiming for, she rocks. Here's a pic of her,

This pic is just for fun and giggles, she really is amazing. Will post our race pics on Monday.

Go GR8CGRM - good luck to me and LT Dan too.
