Tony said to "BRING IT", but I only brought 5

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Did my first P90X workout last night, shoulders and arms. We measured ourselves first, tonight we are going to take pics of the "before" so we can compare it to the "after" once we finish and are rocking some totally big guns. emoticon

We used 5 pound weights, obviously these are not heavy enough, need at least an 8 or 10, didn't really feel much burn at all, so I know I need more weight, but I had so much fun, loved the tricep chair dips.

Today is our "rest" day from running, so tonight will be a Wii dance party then the AB Ripper. This is going to be quite an adventure.

Wish I could come over and dance with you, but then again, that just might be scary.

Good job on needing heavier weights! That means you're pretty fit already.

It's a really good program. I had to play with my bands some to find out what really worked for me. There are definitely going to be excercises that you will struggle with the 5's but if you think you can increase and still get 12-15 reps, go for it.

Glad you already figured out the weights. It took me a while of playing around, but I still can't use one weight for all exercises. Some I still have to use 5's (mainly the exercise where you straighten your arms out to your sides). I have the hardest time with that one. Really fatigues me quick if I use higher than 5's. Oh well, I'm a work in progress. But for most I use 10's and really need to up to 15's.

Ab Ripper X - be afraid - be very afraid!!!!!! LOL, LOL!

I'm proud of you and your sis for making this commitment to each other.

P90X Delivers

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

After a great brisk 45-minute walk after dinner last night, my sis and I sat down to preview P90X, so we could just see what we are in store for. Well, guess what? I'm hooked, it looks like exactly what I've been wanting to do. I've been wanting to beef up the muscles, tone and work on strength. We watched the Ab Ripper - OMG, that is gonna make me so sore, so we are gonna wait and try that one on Friday, to have a weekend recovery. Tonight we are going to do shoulders/bicep workout, that one looks awesome, so we will start with that tonight after dinner.

I can't say that I can make P90X an everyday thing right now, but I am going to work "AT IT". I decided last night that I am DEFINITELY going to train for a half-marathon, I have to go for it, my gut is telling me "JUST DO IT", so I am going to. Going to run a 14K in February, then will evaluate if I want to run marathon in March or wait till Fall (we shall see). Running has to be number 1 on the priority list - we are going to train 3 to 4 days a week, then fill it in with P90X for now. As running progresses, more P90X.

I can honestly say, that never before in my life has fitness been the number one thing on my list until this past year. It's become my goal to push my body harder, try new things, and just see if I can out do myself. I'm really giving it 100% and for the first time in my life, I'm feeling really successful. I am working on my own success story.

My determination and drive comes from surrounding myself with great SP friends who have the same goals, and same mindset - everyday ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

SPARK is my home. I love all my SP buddies. Thanks to all my buddies that inspire me everyday and to my sis for telling me "I can" when I doubt myself.

We can do it sis. It helps me a lot to have you workout with me. We can do all things together. Yes, it's an individual goal, but together we can DO IT!!!!! I haven't felt this good about myself in many, many, many years. Guess you get the picture. I am so proud of you and your goals you have set ahead. Guess your trainer is going to have to tighten your tennis shoes and get you going!!!!

I'm getting my other copy of P90X today. I still have to give you the exact workout "plan" that P90X calls for.

As far as running, go ahead and pencil in your calendar that WE are running that 8K in March at the Shamrock Marathon for Team Tourettes.

Yay! I'm so proud of you!!!

Have you found the 'calendar' for the P90X program? I can email it to can actually do the ab ripper every other day (trust me, you might want to...I don't think you'll need the weekend to recover). They also offer a couple different ways to do it IF you wanted to try to fit it in with running.

Let me know when you want to meet up for the pull up bar...I don't want to hold up the progress. One thing I found was that the cardio parts were boring for me, so I would do the weight workouts and then do my own cardio. It might be a way for you to go.

P90X - A "Psych Me Up" Preview

Monday, September 13, 2010

My SIL brought us the P90X yesterday. I am so excited, but not quite ready to start it just yet, because I am still training pretty hard with the running.

I am really excited about the running too, I did a 10K run on Saturday morning in 66 minutes. That is a fantastic time since this was the first time I ran the whole thing, no slowing down, no walking, just a steady pace to finish in great time. Running is becoming my passion and my gut keeps nagging me to go for a half-marathon, why I don't know. Well I guess I do know, I thought I could never run a 5K or a 10K, but since I am slowing proving that anything is possible, I might just do a half - I'm thinking really hard about it. That would be so great to be able to accomplish that. So for now, my committment is to running, but I am so excited about P90X.

One of my SP buddies is totally rocking the P90X and has really inspired me to try it and my SIL completed it, so I ask myself... Can I do P90X too? Hmmmm, I really want to, just have to work out the logistics of fitting it in to my running schedule, it also means I would have to give up my kickboxing class for a while too. I am going to preview it tonight and we will see if it really SPARKS me to get into it. I am totally in the frame of mind "that anything is possible", "I CAN". I don't like to think that there is something out there that I can't do, so I am really looking for a challenge and I'm thinking P90X is where it's at.

I will let everyone know what I decide. What do you think?

Awesome - I am so glad your going to do the P90X. We can keep each other going on it. I love it and want to finish it so bad I can taste it.
Awe - I love the Kenpo X = You have to at least try it - If you do the Kickboxing in place of it that is still great.
I am excited for you. ROCK IT.

We can do it!!!! I will help you and no more Reese's late nights. lol.. We should totally sign up for 1/2 marathon. What's the worse that can happen? We finish in a slow time? At least we will have finished. Let's keep our eyes ahead and keep up the good hard work. Love ya sis!

Go for it! Worse case scenario it isn't for you & you ditch it. Best case scenario is you become one hot babe!

I like the sound of a half marathon somewhere in my 50th birthday yr, but at the speed I run, it would take at least 3 hours (and probably more). Not sure I want to commit to that.

You can do it. Just DO NOT try to match the people on the dvd rep for rep. Just do what you can do and you will see a bunch of improvements extremely fast.

Well my dear - you know how I feel. I am loving P90X and what it is doing for me. As for fitting it into your routine - do the lean version. Since you are running already - that can take the place of some of your cardio and you can focus more on the strength (of course, you don't have to do Plyo on the lean version which is one of the best cardio workouts). Also - continue with your Kickboxing and let that take the place of Kenpo X. There is no saying you have to follow the schedule exactly as long as the workouts are done. I think if you do the X program - you will find it will also make you a better runner in that it will give you higher endurance.

I am thinking you CAN do anything you set your mind too.

Come be an X-Girl with me!!!
