We never outgrow the Zoo

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Took my baby girl (17) to the zoo today, a mother-daughter outing. Saw baby piglets that were born yesterday - oooh soo cute. And the baby giraffe. It was 93 degrees outside and humid, probably walked 2 miles and sweated off a few pounds. We went to Doumar's drive-in for lunch - had a BBQ and a limeade. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Doumar's - it's a 1950's drive-in restaurant - things sure have changed over the year's, except for Doumar's. I think I was born in wrong era, I should been born to enjoy the 1950's. Anyway, great day with daughter, glad she could squeeze me in her busy social calendar. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

When my daughter came to chicago to visit 2 yaears ago, we took her to the zoo and she an I both loved it. She was also 17ish at the time. Your right about never outgrowing the zoo, its a great thing to share with children big or small, its those memories that never change.

Spark Train......all aboard !!!!!

Friday, July 16, 2010

Just wanted to say that I am thrilled, beyond words, that both my son-in-laws have been SPARKED. Didn't really know the considered me a "SPARKIE", but i am so glad they decided to change their lifestyle. I don't believe I have ever been this enthusiastic about anything in my life as I am about SPARK. I meet new people everyday and am totally inspired by so many, and am touched by someone everyday. I love encouraging others on their journey to a healthier life.

OK, listen up, momma is gonna preach it now.... SPARK has made a positive difference in my life, it's only right that I want to share it with others, especially my family. The weight continues to come off; I'm healthier and more physically fit than I have ever been in my life; I always wear a smile on my face; learned to look for the best in others; and I make it a point to try to lift someone's spirits every day. I feel that there is nothing that I can't do. " Can't" is no longer in my vocabulary. All because of SPARK and my spark family (you know who you are). I get daily encouragement and recognition from others, acceptance and love - it's fantastic. There's no place I'd rather be than SPARKING.

Good job fellas, now get to SPARKING the wifey's and the kids too. It's a family affair. So happy that you all want a healthier you, looking forward to great guys getting better - I only want the best for you and it's here on SPARK..

This is great & exciting news. I am so happy for your son-in-laws and so PROUD that you were an example to get that started. If you weren't in the right attitude and spirit about the journey that you have gone on then they wouldn't have even been interested. That says alot. GOOD JOB.
I am missing HokieJen!!!! I had to tell you - I have thought about her all week.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for all you do.

Being a living example for friends and family is a great motivator - for them and for self.

My husband got on board with me early on. Now I'm hoping our continuing success (and hint, hint, hinting!) will help encourage the rest of our families who keep saying, "I know I need to do something," into doing it.

Gotta hand it to my son-in-law, Danny. He rocked at kickboxing class last night. He hung with the ladies, pretty coordinated for a dude and was still breathing when we were done. Way to go Daniel Son. He just finished the P90X last week and I invited him to kick boxing class, the P90X has really gotten him in pretty good shape, he has to be in pretty good shape to "hang" in a class like Turbo Kick. Again, way to go dude. I think he may have even had a little fun too. He is going for a REPEAT tonight. Glad to know Danny has been officially SPARKED. Keep up the good work Danny, I'm cheering ya on.
emoticonGO DANNY, GO DANNY emoticon

emoticonP.S. I believe I have created some serious little SPARK monsters and that's a good thing, good job Danny and Denise - now to try to motivate the rest of the gang.

Yay for getting a guy to an all girl class!! Did Danny's body seem to do a lot of changing from P90x?

Good for you and awesome for him!

My husband is doing P90X, too, and I've joined him several times on the workouts. The kids and I took tae-kwon-do a couple years ago, so I really enjoy the kickboxing workout on P90X. I'm thinking of starting to do the routine myself.

Definitely had a blast. Don't think I will make round two tonight since the kids will be gone. Might try to take the wifey out for a bit since we will be kidless. I'll just have to get my run in after work in the 90 degree weather.

Grumble Grumble

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

I am whining today - grumpy, grumpy, grumpy. I have a headache, cramps, general overall exhaustion and couldn't get outta bed this morning for my 4:30 workout, just plain ole didn't feel like getting up. I smacked the snooze four times until I was running a tad behind, I got dressed and ready in a flash this morning, but didn't feel like wearing a smile. grumble, grumble, grumble.

To top it all off I have the ingrown toenail from Haydes. Let me just say, if you've never had one, I wouldnt wish it on anyone. Hopefully I can get in to see doctor today, oooouuucchhhh !!! Whoa whoa is me. emoticon

Ok, I'm done grumbling now.

Hope everyone has a great day, hopefully my mood will improve.

I echo your sentiments. I am wearing a knee brace due to a quad tear and the other knee is starting to hurt, also, due to lack of activity. I am scheduled to see the doctor on Thursday to check on my progress.
