Here's Your Sign

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

I have been snacking after dinner, not awfully bad, but just enough to see that it could be potentially dangerous (a handful of peanuts here, a couple potato chips there). I decided to remedy that situtation with some strong intervention. I posted signs on my kitchen cabinets and refrigerator and also included a picture of myself at my heaviest (yuck). Signs say...
"You are not hungry, just bored, find something to do"
"Danger, keep out - hazardous to your health"
"Is this helping me or hindering me"
"I will not eat mindlessly"

And I posted a short term goal... "Leave 160ville by July 1 - no excuses"
I came home last night to find that my daugher had written "GO MOM" in huge letters on my goal sign. Made me feel good to know she's cheering for me.

Sound Silly? kinda, but hey it's working. Just simple little reminders to help me along the way and to keep me in check. I am doing whatever it takes to lose 100-pounds. - only 18 to go! Where's YOUR sign?

Doesn't sound silly at all, and I think I need to do this because I've been having munchy attacks lately too. Mostly tired. How silly is it to think that eating junk will give me more energy?

Thank you, great blog!

What a great daughter you have! My sign is on a bathroom wall, above the scale to remind me that the scale is a tool, not your judge and jury. I too snack a few hours after dinner, I usually grab a banana or make a salad. Last night, I wanted to munch on something and rather than doing that, I just grabbed my water bottle of tea and drank instead. It helped a bit and before I go to sleep, I justify my chocolate craving by taking my chewable multi-vitamin that taste like chocolate. You look great by the ways! emoticon

Circuit Training - Oh My !!!

Monday, May 24, 2010

Yesterday I started a circuit training routine. Wow, does that burn a lot of calories and make you feel fantastic. I really thought I was going to be sore this morning, but to my surprise, I wasn't. Burned 400 calories from one workout - yippie, and it was actually fun.

Today I am going to take it easy, give my muscles a chance to rest for all that weight lifting and "bust a move" with the Wii tonight for my cardio workout.

Goal for the next 4 weeks: Circuit train 3x week, Jillian Fat Burner DVD 2x week - I CAN DO THIS !!!! I want to lose 4 pounds in next the 4 weeks, totally do-able - and NO EXCUSES !!!

Early morning workout, burned 380 calories - yeah. Neecee made us a fruit smoothie for breakfast, now it's off to run errands, squeeze in a bike ride perhaps before the rain. Hope the rain holds off, hubby and I going to racetrack tonight emoticon if not a movie. Dog to vet, grocery store, sheesh, sure am glad I got pumped up early this morning for a busy day. Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday. Gotta shower now and then I'm off and running.... emoticon

Cardio Yard Work, a thing of the past

Friday, May 21, 2010

I used to count grass mowing as a cardio workout until yesterday. Since I've been exercising and really pushing myself lately, I've noticed that I seem to be in better physical shape. So I went to mow the lawn last night and didn't even hardly work up a sweat, hardly a work-out at all. Seems my stamina has improved - that's a good thing, so I am no longer gonna count lawn mowing as a cardio exercise. I got done and wasn't out of breath and was feeling pretty good.

At least last night I thought I was in pretty good shape but I guess I was briefly delusional. This morning I got up early to do Jillian Michaels Fat Burner DVD and those thoughts of being in pretty shape went right on outta my head. Jillian blasted me back to reality - that video kills me everytime.

I know I will be in excellent shape when i can complete that DVD without sweating profusely, my heart beating out of my chest and feeling totally whipped when I was finished. I've got a long way to go. Thank you Jillian for "keeping it real".

I love my reel (non-gas-powered) lawn mower cuz I can put on my mp3 player (no loud gas mower to drown out!) and JOG my way through my lawn mowing...woo hoo! With the right tunes I can fairly look like I'm waltzing or boogie-ing with my mower...lol!

Good for you! But I'd still count the lawn-mowing! It's still cardio even if you're not sweating!

Mowing the lawn without getting our of breath is progress! Jillian has high standards and it takes a while to work up to those.. Measure success by progress

Haha, yes, Jillian does keep it real. BUT! Kudos on not being out of breath from lawn mowing! That's success right there! And, you picked a great day yesterday to do it! Hope your Friday is fabulous!
