My Day Off

Friday, May 14, 2010

Had to meet with daughters guidance counselor (seems she can graduate early, but not sure I want that to happen)
Rode my motorcycle 30 miles to visit friend in hospital for 4 hrs
Stopped at farm fresh salad bar and ate my salad under a big shade tree in the hospital parking lot
Home now, just got done with Jillian Fat Burner DVD and showered
Now off to grab a quick bite to eat (i'm online now figuring if I can have a Happy Meal from McDonald's) on the way to our grandson's baseball game - he the starting pitcher. Then to bed early for the big 5K race tomorrow - Wish me luck !!! Hope everyone is having a happy friday!

emoticon job making yourself do it when you didn't feel like it. That kind of stick-with attitude will push you towards your goal.

Motivate Me Plz

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Gotta go for a lunchtime jog today but really not in the mood. I had to get up extra early this morning (3:30 a.m.) to take a friend to the hospital for outpatient surgery, then work at 7:00 and to top it off, I pretty sure I'm getting a migraine. Someone shove me out the door or kick me in the butt. If I don't go I will be kicking myself in the butt later.

It's been said a few times already, but it's completely true! I suffer migraines sometimes, and although it's the LAST possible thing you want to do is go for a run, it's the only thing I find that helps mine go away. Make sure you BREATHE properly while you're running. Really focus on it, otherwise sometimes you'll find you hold your breath a little too long and it will add to the blood pounding in your head.
Get out there and enjoy the fresh air!!
(Although I'll be super proud of you WHEN you do this because getting up at 3:30am is SO tough and I'm impressed you're still awake!!)

Let us know if you went:)

Hmm, let's see. You want to work out because it creates those endorphins that make you happy! So, why not try some migraine killing pills, and kick that migraine down. Did you do it yet?

Ok, now that you've done it, get yourself pulled together. Lunch is soon. And, it isn't hot today! Yes, that's right. So, you have to get out there and do it. Afterall, isn't this for you? I mean, it won't hurt me if you don't push yourself...but, really, somewhere inside you is the little seed that you planted awhile ago for your lifestyle change. I hear it calling to you to be nourished with your jog today. So! Get yourself out there and do it! You CAN do this and you WILL do this.

Afterall, I'm going to check in with you after lunch time to make sure you did.....

Just do it. Tell yourself that it is ONLY (fill in the blanks on the number of minutes) and how GOOD you will feel afterward. Tho, if you are training for a 5K, it IS ok to give yourself a day off, rest your knees etc. Many people get injured by exercising when they are overly tired, because of poor posture for one thing. If your 5K is in three days, do you plan to take a day off before the race? That isn't a bad idea you know, speaking from a former runner (I am a "jogger" now, and according to my daughter who is 23 and in her prime, there IS a difference haha)

Not sure if this is the "encouragement" you were looking for haha. But why kick yourself? I know you prob have a reason for it, but I am just wondering if you plan to rest a day prior? You will perform better.

emoticon great job! it is So worth it! i used to jog on my lunches when I lived in CT way back at the age of 22. I worked for the Perrier company, and they had showers and everything, and I was the ONLY one who used it EVER. That was the 80's tho, and at that time people sat at their desks and SMOKED! and had drinks for lunch. Just a funny memory came up with you saying you jogged at lunch. You are going to have so much fun doing the race! they are super fun! jessica

Donuts are the DEVIL

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Had a bad night last night, I opened hubby's snack cabinet and the little mini chocolate donuts enticed me to eat one, ok not just one, four. I was attacked by devil donuts. Will not open that cabinet again for a while. Couldn't resist, I beat myself up about it last night so I won't do it again. Coulda had some fresh strawberries instead but I sided with the devil. Shame on me. Today's a new day, and no more donuts for me. Moving on, yes, I am very far from perfect.

Oh man, donuts should NOT have been invented! I think they should be banned! ha, then we would just have to have Donut Joints (with secret knocks to get in). I actually feel MORE that way with ice cream, and finally got my hubby to agree to stop buying it, and keeping it in the house. I assured him we could ALWAYS go OUT and have it (maybe yours will agree :) ?? Because by the time you have to get dressed and go out for ice cream, or donuts, you usually realize "this is pointless,i'll just eat strawberries that are here..." But darn those donuts!

Oh, me too. Love the yeast variety with a filling of raspberry or cream, and topped with chocolate. I can eat six at once. I just have to avoid the sight of one because I cannot control myself. Curses to the stores that bake them in the store, with that aroma wafting in the air. Evil, evil, evil. emoticon
