Show Me the Money

Monday, April 16, 2012

Enjoyed a fun night at the Circus with my DD and DH, only bad thing....way overpriced ($12 for a cotton candy, so needless to say the DD passed on that) and way toooo many people, I have never seen so many people in all my life. Sheesh, but it was nice to get out as a family.

I knew I was going to be home alone all day on Friday so I decided to make sure I was not tempted to open the snack cabinet in my house. Hey, whatever it takes, right? Glad to report, it remained un-opened by me all weekend.

Fri: Enjoyed a great day off, got in a 5-mile run first thing and then worked outside in the yard for about 3 hours, just enjoying the sunshine and a super calorie burn of 1300, woo hoo. Day was fantastic, even included an afternoon siesta in the sun on my lawn chair.

Sat: Went to visit a friend in NC, spent most of day laying out on the deck by the pond catching up on the latest, Great time.

Sun: More sunshine, worked on the tan and watched a movie, followed by a great family dinner.

Overall I rate the weekend a total success: great eating and got in all my workouts for the week.

Started out the week with a bang emoticon. I woke up at 0429, one minute before my alarm was supposed to go off. I got up, no smacking the snooze and jumped into the running gear and headed out the door. Not such a great run, wasn't "feelin it" this morning, so I cut it a bit short. Feeling like I let myself down on that one, but hey....I GOT UP and went, so I will call that a huge SUCCESS. Going for a repeat tomorrow. And for all the doubters out there who said I would never get up this morning - HAHAHA, pay up...

$$$$$ SHOW ME THE MONEY $$$$$$$$.

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start.

P.S. I am still boycotting the scale, decided to give it up until May 1st. Tired of being defined by a number. emoticon

Great job on getting up this morning. I wasn't so good. I hit the snooze button TWICE! My bad! I'll make up for it at lunch and tonight. I'd much rather do it in the am though and will remind myself tomorrow how terrible I feel today. Right? Right!

Can't Touch This

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

I came home from work last night to an empty house, DH and DD were going to be working really late, so that left me HOME ALONE.

Hmmm, what was I going to do, being home alone. First off I changed into my workout clothes because I knew I could do whatever workout I wanted for as long as I wanted, without interruption, woo hoo.

Put in the 10-Minute Tony Horton Workout - did two of those, Abs and Total Body, when I was done, I had only used up about half hour so I thought to myself again, hmmmmmm let's keep this party going.

I popped this in the Wii.

I immediately thought of my SP buddy SAMI199, always encouraging me to be moving and grooving, love ya SAMI, you got me inspired for some moving and shaking tonight. I know once she reads this blog today, she's gonna be moving and grooving, thanks to me for getting these crazy songs stuck in her head, lol and you're welcome.

Started out with a warm up....Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Had to do my favorite one, Cotton Eye Joe, if you put in some extra hops and skips it really gets the ole heart pumping.

Feeling great so I had to crank up the volume and crank up the intensity (doing the running man )....

Keeping that heart rate up, oooh yeah baby, busting some moves, finishing it off with some...you guessed it, it's Hammer Time...Can't Touch This

Hope that was a great visual for you all, lol. I really enjoyed myself... loud music and sweating to the 80's. Woo hoo.

Now after all that I was running low on energy so I whipped up a pizza for dinner so DH would have something to eat when he came home. Went on with the nightly chores, etc. layed down in bed to watch a Titanic special on PBS, out by 8:30 - such a party animal I am. But that was short lived, DH and DD arrived home at 9:00 so I was up with them for a bit. Little did they know that the poor tired mom they were looking at now had earlier been busting some serious dance moves while they were gone, raising the roof. Heck yeah. Shhhh, don't tell them.

Today is "run" day - 4 mile easy run tonight, can't wait.

You continue to bring a smile to my face! I love reading your blogs!!! I thought about getting one of those dance party games, but like MDBUTTERFLY, my fav was the boxing. I wanted to kick the booty of those girls! I did it one night for an hour and a half and had sweat pooled in my shoes. I rocked it and was totally feeling it the next day. Could hardly move my arms. I should dig that one out.

Can I join you on your 4 mile easy run tonight? Oops! I forgot I have to mow the lawn because we have five days of storms/rain coming. I guarantee it will look tight before I go to bed tonight. emoticon

Will Run for Steak

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

We had some leftover grilled onions and peppers in the frig from Sunday's dinner so I thought what better to go with them than a steak. I put my running clothes on and told DH I'd be back in a flash to get dinner started. Got in a quick 4.5 miler, the entire time I was envisioning the yummy steaks the DH was cooking on the grill - hurry home I kept thinking, didn't want to keep those steaks waiting, lol. I made it home in record time, I keep a pretty fast pace considering I was running directly into a 20 mph wind, sheesh that was hard work. I got home to this....

3 oz of steak smothered with onions and peppers, a 1/4 of a baked potato and a super yummy salad with the works.

Hey....You know what rhymes with emoticon emoticon 7 0 2.

That's the number of calories I torched during my pre-dinner run, woo hoo for 702.

Tonights workout is a 30-Minute Tony DVD, no running today. I was so angry this morning with the scale it said I gained three pounds since yesterday, well pooh, I just can't believe the crazy fluctations in the numbers so I am staying off of it until next Monday. Darn that thing.

It Really Happened

Monday, April 09, 2012

It Really Happened: Friday's long run really happened, I made it the entire 7.5 miles and my hip was just fine. Woo Hoo, hope this is an indication of things to come. Time wise it was a little slow but heck, I did it and that's all that counts. What a great feeling, which was short lived because of the next incident, read on....

It Really Happened: Had to take our weedeater to the repair shop after my long run, what a totally hair raising experience. I was on the interestate, doing 60 mph and a 6-foot ladder came flying out of the bed of the pick-up truck in front of me. I had only seconds to react, I couldn't slam on brakes because there was someone on my tail, I couldn't swerve into the right lane because there was another car there so my only choice was to straddle the latter, I manuevered the best I could but ended up with the ladder stuck under the right front of the car, I pulled over when it was safe, put on the flashers and was like totally speechless, Holy cow, that was absolutely terrifying. Now what to do about getting the ladder from underneath the car. My sis got out and we managed to cut the wheel sharp enough so she could pull the ladder out, sheesh it was scary. DH checked out the car when I got home, thank goodness it only scuffed the oil pan and nicked the rim on my tires - it could have been so much worse, and the dumb-dumb driving the pick-up just kept going despite my laying on the horn. What an idiot, he was a working guy too - so he knew better about tying down his equipment properly, he had other ladders tied to the truck, but this one was not and just flew right out. Hope he felt the pain of missing a ladder when he got to the job site, if only he knew he almost caused a bad wreck. Lesson learned: never, ever follow a pick up truck for any reason, ya never who what might come flying out of the back.

I was a nervious wreck after the ladder episode but we headed to the movies and I figured I could relax and unwind at the theater. My DD and I went to see Titanic in 3-D, not really that spectacular in 3-D but still a great movie.

It Really Happened: While we were in the movie my phone kept buzzing, I had it on vibrate in my purse but I didn't check it just left it in there. After the movie was over I checked my phone and there were text messages from about 10 people asking if I was OK? I was scratching my head wondering why everyone is asking, but I left the theater and got in the car. I was heading home and I heard on the radio there was an F-18 crash right up the street from us. Holy cow, that's why everyone was asking if I was OK, they wanted to make sure I wasn't in the path of that jet. Thank goodness we weren't and thank GOD no one was killed during that crash. It is being called the Good Friday Miracle around here and I believe it's just that, a MIRACLE. I drove by the wreckage site on Saturday, and it was total devastation of the apartments it hit, but no one was killed.

It Really Happened: Hubby and I actually went out on a Saturday night [that hardly ever happens], we went to visit some friends we hadn't seen in a while, we sat outside around a nice fire pit and chatted about what we've been up too, and before ya know it was 1:00 in the morning, WOW we had a great time.

It Really Happened: A lovely, relaxing day on Sunday. The Easter Bunny left this for me - three new lawn chairs.

Thanks honey bunny.

Great weather today, 5 mile run tonight when I get home.

I'm Starring in TITANIC

Thursday, April 05, 2012

So excited to go to the movies with my daughter tomorrow- we have had this "date" on our calendars for months now. We have seen Titanic a million times, but never in 3-D and she was too young to see it in theaters years ago. I had a little fun with FB this morning, here's a pic of me on the bow of the Titanic, lol.

OK, that was my brief moment of fame, posing with Leonardo DiCaprio, now time for me to get off this ship and get on with my day.

I survived Papa John's Pizza last night, we had to grab something quick since we are my grandson's baseball game - sorry to say their team got whipped, but my grandson had a great night of hitting and made a couple of nice plays, anyway I didn't over eat and I even had room for one miniature Reese egg. I had thrown a few in my purse for my DH to snack on at the game, yes he's like a little kid, I have to bring him snacks, but I refused to eat one until I could get home and see the calorie count on the package. Yeah for me, I waited til I got home, only 80 calories so I had ONLY ONE, a tiny splurge.

Today's workout is 30-minute Tony - got to work in the ST for the week, woo hoo and tomorrow I am looking forward to a 7-mile run with sis. I have been saving the hip/leg to be able to do this run this week, lots of stretching. I'm ready, bring it on. Saturday I will do some yoga to relax after a long week.

A quiet upcoming weekend, hope everyone has a great holiday.

We are having Papa Murphys pizza tonight. It's girls' nite with mom at the nursing home. We are having chicken, spinach, artichoke and bacon delite pizza. Very tasty! Wine, too, of course. We splurge on Thursday Grey's Anatomy night. My sister and her daughter come, too. Mom looks forward to "girls' nite" on Thursdays. It's the little things in life, you know?

When we cruised a few weeks ago, hubby wanted to do the "pose" but we were not allowed to go to that part of the boat. (So we just spent our time in the hot tub instead.
