So glad to have her back, I've missed her. Now I have my workout buddy back, and she's going to teach me how to bake her secret recipe apple pie while she's here. I'm just so excited to have sissy back and to have so many wonderful SPARK sisters.

Love to all. Show your sisters some love today and every day !!!

The Past and Present Come Together

Tuesday, February 07, 2012

I have been sick since Monday, last week and finally decided to visit the doc this past friday on my day off, what a fun way to spend a day off [major sarcasm]. Anyway diagnosis... bronchitis AGAIN, ugghhh. So for the remainder of the weekend I just tried to keep from doing a whole lot, give my body a chance to rest, but didn't seem to manage to get much rest. A teething four month old required a lot of attention this weekend, so I helped out with the little guy.

I was so worried about being derailed on the calorie train for the super bowl party, but thanks to being sick, I didn't eat - guess that's a bonus of being sick [did I really just say that?] We enjoyed a nice get together at our friends Maria and Eli's house and the whole family was there. On the wall at her house is a photo of me and the kiddos from 1998 (on left) - I can't believe I never knew she had that pic hanging there, so my son saw it on the wall and said..."Mom lets do a pic just like that today" so we did - what a great idea, 14 years later ' the past and present come together. Priceless, you're never to big to sit on ole mom's lap.

My son hates to have his pic taken but was in a clowning mood so we indulged in a goofy pic too. It was nice to have all the kids and grandkids together for a good time. I pretty much stayed curled up in the recliner all night during the game, still wasn't feeling all that great.

Yesterday was DH birthday. He loved his new Starbucks super tanker coffee mug.

Exercise was pretty much a bust for the weekend but I certainly ate good and made great food choices. Our son cooked up a special birthday dinner, a chicken cooked on the smoker, he tended the smoker all day to come up with this hunk of yumm yumm.

I love men who love to cook, my hubby is an awesome chef, glad it's trickling down to my son - they sure don't get it from me, lol.

Started day off with a good breakfast.

Dinner = smoked pork chops that Dave cooked yesterday along with the chicken, I am going to whip up my own creation with leftover chicken, I'm thinking....a whole wheat tortilla with chicken, lettuce, tomatos, onions and an avacado.

Today: I W I L L do some gentle yoga stretching today, but back at it full-force hopefully tomorrow.

It's time to get buff emoticon NO E X C U S E S.

A Whole Lotta Nothings

Thursday, February 02, 2012

Not much to report today, ramblings really.

My son was asked to come back for day 2 on the job site, woo hoo, hope this is permanent,

Last night's dinner was excellent - not a crumb leftover, either they were really hungry or my cooking was really good, probably hungry, lol.

emoticonLast night's workout completed: 28-Day Bootcamp SPARK DVD Cardio Burst workout and an easy run on the treadmill - have to be careful not to rack up too many miles, too soon, still suffering from the hip/knee thing a little. The leg was tweaking a bit and this morning I woke up with what feel likes a gianormous knot in my right glute, talk about a real pain in the butt emoticon. I even made sure to do lots of extra stretching and used the foam roller on the leg and tushy.

emoticonAdios to 614 calories last night.

Today's Menu: Breakfast - the usual...yogurt and fruit.
Lunch - salad
Dinner - Asian chicken (asian salad dressing, chicken, spaghetti noodles and stir fried veggies)
Snack: Protein shake, banana, PB

emoticon emoticon emoticonI planned all my workouts for the next four days, since I have a big three-day weekend coming up. Gonna throw a round of kickboxing in, haven't done that in a while. Trying to amp up the workouts for some serious calorie burns in anticipation of a food slip-up during Superbowl, which I know is bound to happen, even with careful planning. Hoping to eat 80% healthy and not worry too much about the remaining 20%.

emoticonToday: I W I L L do a 10-minute Tony (I'm thinking abs) since they are looking kinda flabby these days and prob a quick session on the Nordic Track.

Oooh and let's not forget my fav TV show tonight - I have a date with the world famous, Dr. Sheldon Cooper

(pic from Google)

Have a lovely weekend YALL, I'll see you on Monday, and remember.....

Knowing what trips us up is half the battle! As much as planning can be a PITA, I find it comforting to have it all laid out for me. Good luck this weekend!

Chunky Q.T. Pie

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

emoticonToday is a great day, I can just feel it. My son started a new job today, don't know how long the position will last but it's definitely a great opportunity to "get his foot in the door". Good luck Dave on your first day on the job, mom is very proud.

emoticonRan 3.25 miles on my lunch hour yesterday emoticonthe weather was absolutely perfect emoticonand enjoyed a whopping 490 calorie burn, HECK YEAH !!!!!

I was hoping to have a repeat lunchtime run today, but mom errands have to be done on my lunch hour today... emoticonBOO, HISS, UGH. Duty calls.

Warning: Cute pics of the grandson's first trip the YMCA pool, such a sweet hunk of chunky cuteness. He went with his little friend, how adorable. I can't wait to see him, he's coming over for the entire weekend.

Today's Menu: Breakfast - the usual...yogurt and fruit.
Lunch - laughing cow garlic & herb cheese, Triscuits, clementine and a protein shake.
Dinner - Gonna make a great dinner tonight starting with Chef Meg's Three Cheese Macaroni from the SPARK cookbook. It's one of our favorites so I am super excited about that. Aaahhhh who would have ever thought that whole wheat macaroni could cause such excitement and anticipation emoticon Not sure what type of meat, I'll have to decide that once I'm at the store but it will definitely have to go with the mac and cheese and fresh broccoli.

Today: I W I L L do the 28-Day Bootcamp SPARK DVD Cardio Burst workout tonight and run on the treadmill while watching American Idol. emoticon

He is adorable! Glad to hear about your sons job. Too bad about your mom errands, but you burned some calories there too, right? Thanks to some pain meds I got in some biking and steps today too and am hoping for better things after my shot. My eating should improve too, have to admit to hitting the chocolate during my down days and that doesnt do anything for my wt loss hopes. Thanks for being supportive through all of that and I hope to make you proud of me afterwards. Thanks for keeping me inspired!

I'm heading out after work for some interval walking/running with my girlfriend. I need to work on motivating myself to workout at home, that boot camp dvd might be just what I need. The Evil Twin Sister

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Not a stellar weekend, that's for sure. Didn't do any workouts, I don't really feel too bad about that since I worked out every day last week. It was a perfect weather weekend, enjoyed some outside time, DH even washed and detailed my car. Thanks honey. I was trying to work on my winter tan, lol.

I do feel bad about falling into a half-pan of walnut brownies. I just don't know what came over me, well yes I do.... DH was so sweet to make me some brownies, heart shaped even. He knows exactly when to feed me chocolate [when the evil twin sister comes for a visit (code word for TOM)].

After drowning my woes (along with my evil twin sister) in a juicy, greasy Wendy's cheeseburger and fries yesterday I am happy to report I had a healthy dinner last night and back on track today. Every now and again you just have to feed that inner beast.

Today's Menu: Started the day with a healthy breakfast of yogurt and fruit. Lunch - spicy hummus, wheat crackers, clementine and a protein shake. Dinner - We are having a freezer cleanout special: lots of leftovers (green beans with ham, beef stew, beef soup) and leftover cauliflower casserole - quite the smorgasbord.

Today: I W I L L run at lunchtime today, hoping to squeeze in 3-miles. The weather is going to be GAWGEOUS, 68 degrees and sunny. Perfect opportunity for a stress relief run, complete with a sweat soaked tank and shin sweat, ahhhh shin sweat, my favorite. Who cares if I come back to work a hot mess - NOT ME, just want to sweat, sweat, sweat. I did bring some foo-foo spray for a freshen up afterwards, lol, AND I even brought the HRM to see if it is working properly. I had to reset a lot of the stuff since I replaced the battery, not sure I got it all right. If I have time this evening I may throw in a little extra workout, we shall see.

It's time to get buff emoticon NO E X C U S E S.

Did you get er done? I'll bet you did.

After complaining to you about our weather, I had a great hill repeats workout OUTSIDE where it was a balmy 49 degrees (no, I'm serious, that feels pretty good right now). Yup, woke up to snow on the ground & it was all gone by the time I ran.

AND I walked the dogs. AND I did a 45 minute pilates class.

Inspired yet?

Today will be mostly relaxing, had a real bad night with Chester coughing again.
