The Evil Twin Sister

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Not a stellar weekend, that's for sure. Didn't do any workouts, I don't really feel too bad about that since I worked out every day last week. It was a perfect weather weekend, enjoyed some outside time, DH even washed and detailed my car. Thanks honey. I was trying to work on my winter tan, lol.

I do feel bad about falling into a half-pan of walnut brownies. I just don't know what came over me, well yes I do.... DH was so sweet to make me some brownies, heart shaped even. He knows exactly when to feed me chocolate [when the evil twin sister comes for a visit (code word for TOM)].

After drowning my woes (along with my evil twin sister) in a juicy, greasy Wendy's cheeseburger and fries yesterday I am happy to report I had a healthy dinner last night and back on track today. Every now and again you just have to feed that inner beast.

Today's Menu: Started the day with a healthy breakfast of yogurt and fruit. Lunch - spicy hummus, wheat crackers, clementine and a protein shake. Dinner - We are having a freezer cleanout special: lots of leftovers (green beans with ham, beef stew, beef soup) and leftover cauliflower casserole - quite the smorgasbord.

Today: I W I L L run at lunchtime today, hoping to squeeze in 3-miles. The weather is going to be GAWGEOUS, 68 degrees and sunny. Perfect opportunity for a stress relief run, complete with a sweat soaked tank and shin sweat, ahhhh shin sweat, my favorite. Who cares if I come back to work a hot mess - NOT ME, just want to sweat, sweat, sweat. I did bring some foo-foo spray for a freshen up afterwards, lol, AND I even brought the HRM to see if it is working properly. I had to reset a lot of the stuff since I replaced the battery, not sure I got it all right. If I have time this evening I may throw in a little extra workout, we shall see.

It's time to get buff emoticon NO E X C U S E S.

Did you get er done? I'll bet you did.

After complaining to you about our weather, I had a great hill repeats workout OUTSIDE where it was a balmy 49 degrees (no, I'm serious, that feels pretty good right now). Yup, woke up to snow on the ground & it was all gone by the time I ran.

AND I walked the dogs. AND I did a 45 minute pilates class.

Inspired yet?

Today will be mostly relaxing, had a real bad night with Chester coughing again.

Love the brownies, how could any of us resist such a sweet gesture and who knows, they may have derailed an even bigger binge. Run, run, run. I am LOVING being in GA and the running opportunities this weather has afforded me already. Your pictures are inspiring, by the way!

A Broken Heart

Friday, January 27, 2012

emoticonI'm suffering from a broken heart.....

a broken Heart Rate Monitor that is. Yes, its truly the end of the world since my heart rate monitor went caput yesterday. I believe it's been on the fritz for about a week now, but I have chosen to give it the benefit of the doubt until yesterday. It was the final straw....I was out for my lunchtime run and my HR was about 140ish, ok that's about right, then I slowed down a bit and it shot up to 232, holy cow and I was still alive. It that was for real, the EMS would have been scraping me up off the pavement, thank heavens that really wasnt the case. So I was pretty miffed I didn't get an accurate reading. Well what does one do when something is broke emoticon....try again to see if it's gonna work the next time, haa haa, yeah right.

I put in on last night for my SPARK 28-Day Bootcamp work out - yes I did it, and my heart rate monitor was bezerko again. It said I only burned 68 calories, well from all the sweat and heavy panting I knew the HRM was obviously dead.

I dissected it, oooooh big mistake cuz there are so many tiny little screws and springs, I took out the batteries, hoping that is the issue. My lunchtime mission for today is to find two replacement batteries. Hope this will fix it, I honestly cannot live without my HRM. It's all about the numbers...calorie burns, calories to be eaten, etc., I need to do my daily math, oooh gosh I'm a numbers freak too. Cross your fingers I get my baby back together and that she works.

Today's Menu: Lunch (same as yesterday) - hummus, wheat crackers, clemintine and a protein shake. Dinner - treating myself to "ONE" slice of sin... PIZZA emoticon

Today: I W I L L do the SPARK DVD 30-min Tone and Burn (haven't done this one before and it's an extra 8 minutes longer than the others, hee hee) and a run on the treadmill tonight.

Wanted to post a pic of the super hot shoes I'm sporting today (it's casual Friday), I know you will love em.

These are just as important, if not more so, than the trendy collection.

To leave you with a funny for the weekend... I have to confess that I am really a freak, a closet Star Wars fan freak. My mom sent me this note pad for my refrigerator, she couldn't resist. A girl can never have too many cute note pads. Happy Weekend SPARKIES, make it count.

"The Beast" and Breadcrumbs

Thursday, January 26, 2012

No silly song to get stuck in your for the day, one hasn't come to me yet, lol.

Another night alone last night for a few hours, woo hoo and YEP I worked out again, only this time I decided to conquer "The Beast".

"The Beast" is what I call this crazy contraption. It's a Nordick Track Free Strider, I thought it was an elipitcal but not quite, they say it's better. Reviews say it is the best machine for cross training, hmmmm. It has a 35" stride, so your muscles can stretch further - or so they say. Anyhow I had been approaching this "thing" with much dread lately, I was trying to use it like an eliptical and trying to do a speedy workout, trying to use it like running, trying to keep the beat with my running tunes, but wasn't getting hardly any calorie burn. I researched it yesterday and you are supposed to "Go Hard or Go Home". I set it on a 12 resistance and started my workout. Seemed like I was in slow motion, working my feet and pushing and pulling with my hands and arms, and within minutes my heart rate was up to my normal running speed and I was sweating like crazy. It's supposed to be a total body workout and I can tell ya after 30 minutes on "The Beast" I was pooped. Sheesh, it was quite a workout, not guite the calorie burn I was wanting but a great workout.

Said "tootles" emoticon to 258 calories, that would have to do for the night.

Moving on into the kitchen to cook a yummy dinner. I still had the headphones on so danced around the kitchen, shaking my bon-bon to some Brittney Spears and whipped up a super, delicious meal. Nice I could act a fool while cooking dinner with no one at home, hee hee.

I found this new product in the grocery store and decided to give it a whirl, spice things up a bit.

I coated my Tilapia in it, OMG it was delicious but it did add a few extra calories to the fish. A two thumbs up.

emoticonDinner was 425 calories - stayed within calorie range today

Here's the finished meal, ya hungry yet? Tilapia, pieorgies, and fresh steamed broccoli.

Speaking of spicing it up alittle bit, wearing some super cute ankle boots today....

Gonna be a great weather day, high 65, so I'm planning a lunchtime walk/run, I even brought workout clothes and my HR monitor today.

Today's Menu: Lunch - hummus, wheat crackers, clemintine and a protein shake. Dinner - Salad with tons of veggies and tuna - a light meal since I'm gonna amp it up again tonight with the workouts.

I W I L L do the SPARK DVD Short Cardio & Sculpt and a run on the treadmill tonight or maybe an outside run to enjoy some fresh air - we shall see.

It's time to get buff emoticon NO E X C U S E S.

She's a Very Freaky Girl

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Don't know why I woke up this morning with the song Super Freak by Rick James stuck in my head. Dont you hate it when that happens? "She's a very freaky girl, the girl is super freaky, yowwwww." I know you're singing it now, lol. I guess this would explain the rest of the blog.

I felt like such freak yesterday - an exercise Freak that is - a SUPER FREAK even.

I enjoyed a lovely lunch hour walk, I ended up jogging a little over a mile and walking another mile. I hadn't planned on running, but sometimes I just can't help myself. I bet I looked absolutely ridiculous, I had my sneakers on with my skirt and sweater, didn't bother to put on workout clothes since I was ONLY going for a walk, but that fresh air coupled with some super jams on my i-phone just awakened the running beast in me, I took it easy since I didn't want to be a sweaty, hot mess going back in from lunch. That was just enough to energize me for the rest of the day. Ahhhhh, so glad I did that.

I arrived home from work last night and to my surprise, I was all ALONE. Hey, Hey, Hey....no one demanding my attention, YEAH !!!! So what do you think I did with my time alone? You guessed it, HAIL YEAH I worked out. Yep, I was so excited to be able to workout in the quiet and just really focus on ME, have to say I liked it, but did miss the DH being home.

emoticon22 Minute SPARK 28-Day Boot Camp DVD, Cardio and Sculpt
Nordic Trak for 30 minutes, then a couple of upper body toning exercises while I was watching TV

emoticonAte leftovers [I was totally famished after that workout] and even had a protein shake for dessert [chocolate flavor of course], stayed in calorie range

Torched a whopping 556 calories, bye-bye emoticonThat's what I'm talking bout !!!!! See ya !!!!

Tonight's Menu: Broiled Tilapia, brown rice and fresh steamed broccoli for dinner.

I W I L L do the a 30-minute cardio workout tonight of my choice...biking, Nordic Trak or the treadmill, we shall have to see what the mood inspires me to do. No SPARK DVD tonight, it's a "rest" day on the SP workout plan. Hahaha "REST", not for me because.........

It's time to get buff emoticon NO E X C U S E S.

Challenge for today for all my Sparkie babes and babettes...make today your "super freak" day. emoticon

Monday - Progress/Accountability

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Enjoyed a super Monday, how bout you?

emoticonAte well within calorie range
emoticonTen minute Tony Horton lower body workout, burned 132 calories
emoticon3.25 miles on the treadmill, ran 2.5 miles of that, testing out the hip and knee still, so far so good, burned 351 calories
emoticonOverall exercise for the day = 483 calories gone bye-bye emoticon

Wearing the new high heels to the office today, I measured them and they are five inches, but prob only 3-1/2 since they are platforms, probably not a good idea since my thighs are a bit sore [understatement] from that workout last night, owwieee. Lots of thigh action and squats, again... ooooucchhhh.

Today's meal plan is looking great - leftover pork BBQ I cooked over the weekend - yummy.

I W I L L do the Spark Bootcamp DVD - Cardio/Scuplt workout tonight, 30-minutes on the eliptical and I selected 9 upper body weight exercises to do tonight while I'm watching TV.

Time to get buff emoticon NO E X C U S E S.
