Getting Back on Track

Well, the holidays are finally over. It's time for me to get back to to a good eating plan.

Over the holidays, I was able to stay with my regular exercise routine. I am so proud of myself for sticking with the gym for 50 mins, 2x per week. I even started Couch to 5K. I am now on Week 2. Also got some Kettlebells with a giftcard I received and just started that too.They are actually fun to use and it is quite the workout! Also, got some ice skates and have been skating a few times a week! Skating burns so many calories- it is crazy! I have been consciously working out for the past month and a half and now it has just become second nature to me.

As for eating, I want to get back to a healthy lifestyle, however, I did not do too bad over the holidays. I'm thinking of trying a non-processed diet. I would also like to read the Raw Food Detox Diet.

    A non-processed diet is a fantastic idea! i've been eating non-processed foods for a few years now and it has made a huge difference. Detoxes are also good for you. I like Dr. Joshi's detox as it follows an ayurvedic style.
Way to go with keeping on track over the holidays!

This is it- 2011 Goal List

Every year I make resolutions at this time of year. They tend to be the same as years prior. The main one is always to lose weight- sometimes I give myself a number. Sometimes I leave it open.

In 2006, I used Slimfast and lost about 25 lbs. However, once I stopped using it, I slowly ballooned up to the heaviest I had ever been.

In 2009, I knew I needed to make a change. I began to eat right and started a walking regime and using a Wii Fit. I lost 30lbs. and managed to stay at my new weight for a year or so with minor weight gains and losses.

In 2010, I joined a gym, lost the few lbs I had gained. But I always hit a wall at a certain weight. Then, stress attacked my life and I went through a hard few months. Emotional eating consumed me and I gained another 10lbs.

So, here I am. Back on track- better than ever (not including Christmas). I'm exercising regularly, eating well, having fun, and feeling good about my choices. I don't feel like I am missing out on things. If anything, I can think about all the great things I will be able to enjoy in my life when I am not overweight.

Let's get to the bottom of this blog post. What am I going to be doing to change my lifestyle in 2011?

First, I need to remind myself everyday that this is not a diet. This is not a plan to lose x lbs. This is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. This is changing my behaviour and actions consciously so that I can live a better, longer life.

Make healthy choices. Eating a Big Mac, french fries, and a large coke is not a healthy choice. If possible, eat a home, bring snacks or lunches with me, or eat 'healthy' fast food. It is out there, you just have to read the nutritional information.

Regular exercise. Whether it is going to the gym or walking outside. I want to be active. I want to go skating and snowshoeing. Hiking and running. I want to do so many different activities to keep exercise fun and interesting. My recent elliptical purchase will help me stay active on off/rest days.

There it is. My resolution for 2011.
