O Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Minus 2 degrees and counting down! And the wind is enough to take your breath away. It was too cold to walk the dogs, especially since the Dane has such short fur. I have a pony blanket for her but I was still worried about exposure.

I bought a serious weight/body fat index scale at Ocean State Job Lot today for a really good price. My last Sunbeam only had three feet left on the bottom! For those of you who have a warehouse/outlet store like Big Lots or something, it's a really good time to stock up on fitness supplies as they stack them out to take the place of the waning Christmas goods.

Has anyone used kettle balls? Would you recommend them or just hand weights? What are the advantages to either? Is there a DVD I should get? I'm trying to decide on an weight bearing exercise to do inside when the weather is formidable.

Thanks everyone who has commented on my blogs! I feel so supported and validated.

I've never used kettle balls but they look fun. What about resistance bands? Just an idea. Good luck braving the cold!

I know what you mean about the weather. It is blowing so hard the windows are rattling. The snow is blowing so bad that it is almost impossible to drive. It's a good thing I am not planning on going out tonight. A good nite to relax with a hot, hot cup of English Toffee Tea. Take care and keep warm. Patty

Christmas Disaster Averted!

Saturday, December 26, 2009

I can hardly believe how well I did with my eating this holiday. My "tricks" were to drink my water and I had a sugar free hard candy between meals. The water filled me up and the hard candy satisfied my sweet tooth. I cleaned out my kitchen of all the junk food and stocked up on good veggies, fresh salsa, and whole grain goodies. Topped it all off with skinless chicken breast and plain yogurt. I am good to go for the next week's meal plan! Not one sweet or piece of pie came home with me. I feel supported by this website and especially my home group, The Dog Lovers. I hope to get out tomorrow with my two dogs should the weather permit, so far its been snowy. cold with mixed drizzle.

All Things New

Friday, December 25, 2009

Once again, I am returning to Spark People to begin the journey I abandoned last year. Due to a medication addition I gained 70 pounds last year! It is time to lose that weight, lest I should permanently slip into serious complications like diabetes. I discontinued that medicine 4 weeks ago and I have already lost 15 pounds. That is just the beginning of a more serious effort to get to my goal weight of 170.
In a season of birth and renewal, let's all give ourselves a chance to start again.
