Going for the goal!Tuesday, October 19, 2010So it looks like I will hit my 3000 mile goal for 2010 after all. I really thought I wouldn't make it because of the broken arm. I'm feeling so much better and really wanted to get back on the bike. Anyway, against all odds (and doctor's orders), it looks like I will hit 3000 miles by the end of October. I let my Physical Therapist know that I was getting back on the bike and he told me that it was OK with him as long as I didn't fall. The arm is healing really well and I have about 80% of total usage. ![]()

Sounds like you're pulling through this safely...whew! I sure didn't want to see you sidelined by any more troubles...! I've never bothered to track the number of miles I've biked over time. Just per each ride. Don't know if I could get that detailed to keep up such record-keeping...lol! I just know that this past cycling season was an awesome one for me...nailing a century ride and just pouring it on all around...stronger on my hill climbing, faster when I want to be. It's been great to have positive feedback from my fellow bike club members! Keep those wheels SPARKIN'! :-) Don Report Inappropriate Comment |

OK so I got back on the bike this week and have gone another 88 miles in 3 days. I haven't got an official doctor release yet but I am feeling so much better and the cycling does not hurt my arm at all. I'm being very careful and have limited my rides to under 3 hours each. I'm not sure if I will hit my 3000 mile goal this year - it all depends on the weather. I am not going to push myself to hard because of the possibility of re-injuring the arm in another fall.
I was in Idaho just over a week ago at the memorial service for my mother. It was a great time visiting with all the family. However, there was so much food that I don't normally eat any more and I overindulged. I gained about 5 lbs. in only 4 days. Now I am working extra hard to get the weight back off. Cycling seems to be the only thing that really burns the calories for me - along with going back to eating healthy.
