Busy!

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Last night, we took my son's girlfriend out for her birthday. I didn't feel well after eating a turkey burger at Red Robin. Maybe I ate too much! Today, I am reading manuals to prepare for a major software conversion on Friday. After that's done, I'll have more time...

That sounds like wonderful recreational reading! Hope the rest of your day turns out a bit more interesting... Unless, of course, you're really INTO reading those! Hope you get to feeling better. Watch out for tainted food! Hugs, Calen~

I'm not a big Red Robin fan myself. I usually do the gardenburger or veggie burger or whatever they call it. I guess I don't eat burgers in general that much anymore. Software manuals, huh? That sounds exciting!

Doing ok...

Monday, July 13, 2009

I've been enjoying fresh summer food. Green beans, squash, cucumbers, blueberries, and strawberries. Eating fresh vegetables and fruits makes it so much easier to stay on track. I had a good day. Tonight, I enjoyed watching 'Army Wives', 'The Closer', and 'Secret Life of the American Teenager.' These are really good shows!

Army Wives! I bawled through the last 1o minutes of that show. It wasn't just that Frank and Denise got back together, it was thinking of all the times we sat in church and said those same vows for kids of our friends when they were baptized. I got all teary right then because I realized that we are still close to those kids, and the youngest of all of them is now 14. It really does take a village to raise a kid, I think. I love that show! I like The Closer, too, though I usually forget about it. I've never watched the other one.

So sounds like you're still on a roll there!

Hugs,
Calen~

Movie review for 'Beth Cooper'

Saturday, July 11, 2009

I saw the movie, 'I love you Beth Cooper' yesterday. It was a good movie and I enjoyed it. If I was going to rate it officially, I would call it average. It wasn't the fastest moving comedy I've ever seen. But there were funny things that my husband and I laughed about after the movie.

After the movie, we had lunch at Mimi's Café. They have a new 'Just Enough' menu that is AWESOME! The meals are smaller portions and much lower calorie levels - right in line with the way that I eat at home. I had the pot roast and gravy with mashed potatoes and vegetables. It was just as good as any that I've ever made. I definitely want to eat at Mimi's Café more in the future.

I uploaded pictures of loved ones who have passed away to my facebook account to share with relatives. I uploaded pictures of my father, father-in-law, an uncle, an aunt, and a cousin. I am so excited to have found my uncle and aunt and first cousins who live in Missouri. I have also found a cousin in NC. It made my day yesterday to see a comment on my cousin's facebook page that he and his wife are expecting a baby. I knew that they had been trying for a year and I am so happy for them! I wish that I could get more of my extended family on facebook. Maybe they will join to view my memorial picture albums.

Today, we will mow my mother's yard. Tonight, my husband's family is coming over to have family dinner in our back yard. Since we got the deck and pond finished, we will get to enjoy it. It is my sister-in-law's birthday. She loves being outdoors, so I hope that she will enjoy her birthday.

Facebook is interesting, isn't it? Just wait till all your old high school friends find you! THAT is weird.

Look at all those relatives popping up! Just think how much more you'll have to scrapbook about now! Are some of them folks you'd lost touch with? Amazing how Facebook can bring folks together, isn't it? Don't work TOO hard! It's still the END of your vacation, you know! Hugs, Calen!

My cat, Mickey is healthy after having TWO different cancers

Thursday, July 09, 2009

My cat, Mickey, had two surgeries in 2008 for TWO different kinds of cancer. I took both of my cats Minnie and Mickey, to the vet yesterday.

Today, I got the results back fro Mickey's blood work and he is healthy! I am thankful.

The deck is done!

Thursday, July 09, 2009

We moved the furniture back onto our deck.

My husband also built a small stone patio area for the grill. Now, our patio is just seating and fire pit - no grill! I bought hot dogs and marshmallows so that one night, we can cook over the fire pit.

Tonight, we are going to Golden Corral with our moms. I am planning to make a taco salad and have a little bit of chocolate for dessert. I've been craving chocolate and it's safer to have it at a restaurant than to bring it into the house.

I'm thrilled at how the deck turned out - especially because it is made of lumber and it is 22 years old! This deck would never have lasted this long if my husband hadn't take such good care of it. He was very happy to have help in sealing/staining it this time!
