I took my cat, Mickey, to the vet again concerning the bald spot behind his ear. Two weeks ago, the vet prescribed antibiotics and an anti fungal cream. This made his ear worse. They ran tests for infection and ear mites and didn't find anything bad. So, now he will be on a course of steroids for a while. I have put the instructions for giving him the pills on my calendar so that I will get it right and taper him off the medication correctly.
The plans are all in place for Thanksgiving! My sisters-in-law are bringing their favorite dishes and I am bringing mine. I am making chocolate cookie fudge, butternut squash casserole, pecan bars, gravy, ham, and turkey. My mother-in-law is thawing the turkeys and ham at her house since she has more room in the refrigerator and she is adamant about how she wants to cook them. She can do it however. Her way isn't that different than my way. I wonder how many kitchen wars will be sparked over Thanksgiving?
My younger son had to work today in preparation for black Friday at Circuit City. My older son just left for his job as a Police Officer at 8:00pm.
I am going to a neighbor's crop on Saturday. I had ordered $82 in pictures to make the 6 memory albums of my father-in-law as Christmas gifts. The pictures weren't supposed to arrive until next week. So, I was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call saying that my pictures were ready! Now, I have more than enough to do at the crop. Since my neighbor is so generous in sharing her home for the crop (she has a sun room with a huge table!), I am taking the food. I will get WalMart subs that they all like and I also got candy, brownie mix, and chocolate chip cookies. I may not take all of those items, but I am definitely taking No Pudge brownies for me!

I went to a Pampered Chef party last night at my sister-in-law's house. I loved it! I bought a pie server, a timer, spice mixes, a cook book, and a scoop. They have some really neat products! I came home and got out my pampered chef chopper and used that to make a tortilla-hummus-cucumber-tomato sandwich. Mmmmmm.
My husband and I went out by ourselves tonight. We went to a local restaurant in our town. I got a eggplant parmesan sub. It was nice being together.
I hope that my son will be able to stay awake for work tonight. He works 8:45pm to 7:00am and during his 4 days off, he didn't sleep regularly or for very long. I offered to pay for some caffeine for him on his way to work.
We have gotten several Christmas gifts already and I am getting into the Christmas spirit. Maybe I can wrap a few of them this weekend...

The weekend was great! On Friday, we went to our small town's Christmas celebration. All the stores were open and decorated. Many had food for everyone. My 9 year old nephew got a real kick out of the free food and hot chocolate! It was cold and it took a while for me to thaw when we got home.
On Saturday, we were planning to put up Christmas decorations, but we awoke to find three young men asleep in the living room. One was on the couch, one was on the floor between the couch and coffee table (he is a skinny guy!), and the other guy was on the other side of the coffee table. From the kitchen, you could see their feet sticking out! So, we decided to change our plans and go shopping instead. This was a good plan because we had to prepare family dinner for 5:30pm and we would be rushed getting the decorations done and preparing dinner. So, we went shopping and I bought 6 boxed 8 x 8 Bazill scrapbook albums that were on clearance for 14.99 each. I am going to make memorial albums of my father-in-law for family members for Christmas. I think that they will like the gift, but I just hope that it won't make them sad. The albums are in matching cloth boxes. They come with paper, stickers, pockets, and journaling prompts.
On Sunday, after breakfast with my parents, we put up decorations. Our house looks transformed! I love Christmas!

I have been noticing Christmas decorations everywhere. Tonight, my little town is having their Christmas celebration downtown. I enjoy it every year. The stores are all decorated and open during the evening. They have snacks for the crowd. People are singing. There is a hay ride. The train in the square is going. Today, for the first time this season, I am wearing a holiday shirt. It is cold tonight, so I will wear my big coat and I need to dig out those gloves! We are decorating our house for Christmas tomorrow. This morning, when I was walking Jack, I noticed two houses with decorations already. :)
This has been a challenging week at work. I feel brain dead. Thank goodness it's the weekend!
I went to the grocery store yesterday and last night, I had a soup / salad / and soup bar for my husband, son and his girlfriend, and my mother-in-law. I also made a healthy pumpkin pie. It turned out really well. I am going to have a salad for dinner tonight too. I got this onion salad topping that is delicious! I'll be sure to weigh it when I add it to my salad so that I don't end up with an unhealthy salad! ;)
The ham and two turkeys that we ordered from Hickory Farms arrived today. They were frozen and our freezer is full. Thank goodness my mother-in-law had room in her freezer next door, so I took it all over to her house. For Thanksgiving, my sisters-in-law are bringing dishes too, so the pressure is off. We have to thaw and cook the meat. Maybe I will make green bean casserole and my healthy version of sweet potato casserole made with butternut squash instead...
