friends! We are back from the shire. We came back early Sunday morning (1AM) actually but I was busy all day tending to my sick hubby. More on that in a bit.
Hubby and I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival. It was wonderful! It was near Houston (Swamp Land) and it was really humid because thunderstorms were passing through. We didn't get rained on. We dodged the rain by taking shelter in the car when we saw dark clouds moving fast our way.
I dressed up as a Pirate Wench. I told Albert he could call me winch but I was NOT going to call him my lord. But then the Mead kicked in and it was My Lord this and My Lord that.
I stayed within my calorie range and I'm pretty proud of myself for staying on track.
We still had a really nice time but hubby got sick on Sunday from dehydration. He only had one glass of water and lots of Mead, Chocolate Stout and Energy drinks at the festival. I packed alot of water so I didn't get dehydrated. He doesn't like to drink water. He was so sick he couldn't do anything on Sunday. I had to nurse him back to health. He's still recovering today.
It didn't stop us from watching the walking dead last night. Awesome Awesome Awesome Season Premier! Although I do feel like I watched the walking dead all day Sunday trying to bring Albert back to life.
Now I bestow to you, the great people of Spark, pictures of our festival adventure.
The hubby and I are going to the Texas Renaissance Festival tomorrow.
It's supposed to rain but we plan on taking ponchos.
I wonder what rain gear was used in medieval times.
I should google that.
Anyhoo, have a wonderful weekend sparkfriends!
I'm feeling much much better today.
I did some cardio on the treadmill.
I had to talk myself into it.
I just kept in mind that 75% of the battle was just showing up to the gym.
Once I was on the treadmill it was smooth sailing from then on.
Feeling pretty groovy.
Ugh so I had my wound cauterized today. I imaged being in a room in a patient gown with a wood burning kit. It WAS just as I imagined but the doctor was very nice and gentle and he talked me through the whole thing. He thinks he got the wound to close. Maybe one day I will post a picture of the scar but right now its too gross to post. I have a rare skin condition called hidradenitis suppurativa. It's under my left underarm. There's no cure but surgery can sometimes treat it. In some cases for some it takes it away forever. I had surgery in June but it started to come back. This time I'm treating it right away. I waited so long to have the surgery in the first place that the skin infection got into my blood stream and caused sepsis.
Moving on, I didn't let today's treatment sideline me. I didn't get to work out or meet my fitbit's 10,000 steps but I stayed within my calorie ranges and still have my motivation to keep moving forward. I am letting my body heal today. I'm in some pain and I want to tear into some chocolate and junk food. But I'm keeping my eye on the prize. I want to be healthy and the junk food isn't worth trading in my health. I have way too much fun stuff to do this month to make myself sick with food. So that's my NSV for the day: Staying on track and not binge eating to make my pain go away.
By the way, I was disappointment to learn that burning flesh does NOT smell like Bacon.
