Daily Community Task:Today blog about 5 great reasons that inspire you to work out

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Daily Community Task:
Today blog about 5 great reasons that inspire you to work out. The next time you're feeling unmotivated, refer back to that list for a spark of inspiration.

6 great reasons that inspire ME to work out:
1) Good Health; I want to be a blessing to others and I can't do that if I'm sick & unhealthy. Exercise helps me stay healthy.
a. I want to beat diabetes
b. I don't want weight loss surgery
c. I need to get down to a healthy weight
d. I don't want to have high blood pressure for the rest of my life
2) Sleep; It helps me sleep better and feel more rested
3) Energy; It gives me energy
4) Mentally; I feel better after a workout no matter how I feel before.
5) Quality of life; I don't want to be stuck at home because I feel sick
6) Stress; It helps keep my stress under control

6 people that inspire me to work out are:
1) God
2) Husband
3) Fur Kids
4) Family
5) Friends
6) Dave Matthews ;)

I should definitely do a list like that! Thanks for the inspiration!

That's a great list! Sometimes I don't think much about how much better I feel when I'm treating my body right, but you make an excellent point about not wanting to be sick. When I'm treating myself poorly, that's exactly how I feel... "sick".

Anyway, hope you had a great evening!

Stress Eating

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

HI friends. I've been really stressed out at work and I feel like stress eating. So far I've been doing good by identifying that I'm not hungry just stressed but I want to just eat and eat. Do you have any suggestions to curb stress eating? Thanks in advance for the advice!

I know how hard it is. Try to pack healthy snacks, like an apple. Sip water, tea, coffee!

I know it's the same advice you've heard 98372957 times, but if you can fit in even a 5 minute walk, it might help. And if not, just put your hand on your belly, sit back, take a deep breath and try to push your hand out with your breath in your belly. It has kept me from going bat crap on many occasions. Maybe it would help you chill and distract you for a bit to hopefully let the food craving pass.

Stress eating sucks, but I have no doubts you can... and will!... conquer it!

Sometimes I take a walk outside and that seems to help me.

I am a repeat offender of stress eating. I find at work, if I only bring my healthy snacks and lunch for the day and nothing else, and no cash, I will not over eat.

Find other things to distract your mind from eating.
Stay away from the food area/ kitchen.
Exercise or do activities that you really need to do.
If you must eat eat healthy foods so that you have nothing to feel guilty about.

MIA Sparker

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Hi sparkfriends! It's a busy week at work so I won't be able to Spark as much. I'm still sticking to the program and writing everything in but I might not be "seen" as much.

Not only is work busy but I'm gearing up to go out of town this weekend for a scooter rally in Austin, Tx (I reside in San Antonio). I'm excited but abit aprehensive about sticking to my healthy life style.

I have a plan and I've told everyone I'm going with about my fears and so far they are very supportive. Just gotta follow through. So if you don't see as much of Dave and I daily that's why. But I'm still thinking of yall! Have a great week Sparkers! And by all means don't wait for me....keep sparking.

Have a great week (despite the work)!

First day off Fall and proof of God's Grace

Sunday, September 22, 2013

Today was extraordinary and highly active even though I slept in.
First I went to church with the husband.
emoticon
Walked the dogs at the park for 45 mins. Walking the 3 fur babies without the hubby is no easy feat but it went well.

(Niles was acting melodramatic again)

I dropped off the kids at home with the hubby, and left them with some doggy ice cream to cool down. (The dogs not the hubby, hubby can fend for himself, I think) My pug gets overheated doggy ice cream helps cool her down.

Then I went back to the park and rented a B-Cycle. First time ever but definitely won't be my last. I think my next weight goal reward will be for a yearly $60 b cycle membership. I have a bike but its a pain to unload and load. Rode the bike for 1 hour ($12 not bad)

Then I stretched in the park and noticed I was 500 steps short of my daily 10, 000 goal. So now I'm 1 hour into a greenway hike along the San Antonio Riverwalk Mission Reach! Way surpassing my daily step goal!

To think 2 years ago I weighed in at the doctors office at 271.5 pounds. I went to the doctor Thursday to get some paperwork filled and I weighed in at 240.2. Id been battling diabetes and a skin infection. Then the skin infection got so bad that in May I got sepsis and in June I had to have surgery to remove infected glands and skin tissue. Now 3 months later, I'm hiking, biking and dog walking all in the same day?!?!? AMAZING!
emoticon
The surgeon wasn't able to get all the bad tissue and some of it is coming to the surface. I have to go back next month and have a different procedure done but not as invasive. Despite these challenges today I did multiple activities and can say I have truly lived. I wished I could have shared this experience with my hubby today but he said he has too much stuff to do today. Its ok though Dave Matthews and Jesus walked and biked with me. :p Today's adventure follows a 2.5 hour gym workout from yesterday.

Thank you Jesus! I feel absolutely blessed.

emoticon emoticon emoticon
Which begs the question, are you truly living? Have you experienced God's grace? Or for non religious friends are you enjoying life? If so please share in your Joy by commenting on this blog. And if not, its not too late to get started. How do you plan to get out there and live?
Bless you SparkFriends!
emoticon emoticon emoticon
Finished today with over 15, 000 steps! And my weekly steps are an all time high! Holy cow that's alot of miles!

You whooped yesterday like a boss! That's awesome! I would love to be able to do so much activity in one day. You're good example that it's possible!

I'm non-religious, but try to live life as best I can every day. I spend a lot of time being bored because I am disabled and at home 90% of the time, but when the opportunity to do something fun comes along, I grab it and hold on tight to that sucker!

Hope your week is starting off well!

You kicked it. It's a beautiful thing when you see where you are and where you came from. I realize that in time if you continue to focus, you'll reach the goal. When I'm running and I am at mile 2 and got 10 more to go I have to say to myself - take it Step by Step. Then when I reach the half way point and I retracing my steps - "I say see you remember you were here and how you felt - now this is in the rear view mirror". I also remember some of the adversity I had to overcome to continue to run and I am thankful that I can still do it.

But to you: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
