First day off Fall and proof of God's Grace

Sunday, September 22, 2013

Today was extraordinary and highly active even though I slept in.
First I went to church with the husband.
Walked the dogs at the park for 45 mins. Walking the 3 fur babies without the hubby is no easy feat but it went well.

(Niles was acting melodramatic again)

I dropped off the kids at home with the hubby, and left them with some doggy ice cream to cool down. (The dogs not the hubby, hubby can fend for himself, I think) My pug gets overheated doggy ice cream helps cool her down.

Then I went back to the park and rented a B-Cycle. First time ever but definitely won't be my last. I think my next weight goal reward will be for a yearly $60 b cycle membership. I have a bike but its a pain to unload and load. Rode the bike for 1 hour ($12 not bad)

Then I stretched in the park and noticed I was 500 steps short of my daily 10, 000 goal. So now I'm 1 hour into a greenway hike along the San Antonio Riverwalk Mission Reach! Way surpassing my daily step goal!

To think 2 years ago I weighed in at the doctors office at 271.5 pounds. I went to the doctor Thursday to get some paperwork filled and I weighed in at 240.2. Id been battling diabetes and a skin infection. Then the skin infection got so bad that in May I got sepsis and in June I had to have surgery to remove infected glands and skin tissue. Now 3 months later, I'm hiking, biking and dog walking all in the same day?!?!? AMAZING!
The surgeon wasn't able to get all the bad tissue and some of it is coming to the surface. I have to go back next month and have a different procedure done but not as invasive. Despite these challenges today I did multiple activities and can say I have truly lived. I wished I could have shared this experience with my hubby today but he said he has too much stuff to do today. Its ok though Dave Matthews and Jesus walked and biked with me. :p Today's adventure follows a 2.5 hour gym workout from yesterday.

Thank you Jesus! I feel absolutely blessed.

emoticon emoticon emoticon
Which begs the question, are you truly living? Have you experienced God's grace? Or for non religious friends are you enjoying life? If so please share in your Joy by commenting on this blog. And if not, its not too late to get started. How do you plan to get out there and live?
Bless you SparkFriends!

Finished today with over 15, 000 steps! And my weekly steps are an all time high! Holy cow that's alot of miles!

You whooped yesterday like a boss! That's awesome! I would love to be able to do so much activity in one day. You're good example that it's possible!

I'm non-religious, but try to live life as best I can every day. I spend a lot of time being bored because I am disabled and at home 90% of the time, but when the opportunity to do something fun comes along, I grab it and hold on tight to that sucker!

Hope your week is starting off well!

You kicked it. It's a beautiful thing when you see where you are and where you came from. I realize that in time if you continue to focus, you'll reach the goal. When I'm running and I am at mile 2 and got 10 more to go I have to say to myself - take it Step by Step. Then when I reach the half way point and I retracing my steps - "I say see you remember you were here and how you felt - now this is in the rear view mirror". I also remember some of the adversity I had to overcome to continue to run and I am thankful that I can still do it.

But to you: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You want me to do what? Girl you cray cray!

Sorry to yell but I'm on a high. I got up early on a Saturday to meet my BFF at the gym. (Amazing, I never get up early on Saturdays) My BFF inspires me. She just joined the same gym and my workouts have been rejuvenated. It's Wonderful!
I have 2 NSVs to report as a consequence of this early morning workout:
1) I only had 2 beers last night cause I knew I had to wake up early. As a result I narrowly stayed within my fitbit AND SparkPeople calorie ranges.
2) I fracking woke up at 8 AM to fracking workout....Frack! Something I would have never done you don't understand.....I am anti morning person. I am anti people before 9AM. But I did it and I feel AWESOME! So great in fact we might make it a weekly thing.
So Friends my message today is that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. You CAN change! It doesn't happen over night but it CAN and WILL happen! DON'T GIVE UP! Do get out of your comfort zone! It's nice beyond those boundaries. My comfort zone Saturday mornings was in my bed but I broke free of the sheets. THANK YOU EUNICE FOR THAT PUSH! YOU ROCK BABE!

Yay NSVs! Those are the best! Getting out of bed at that hour on a Saturday must have been brutal, so two big thumbs up for doing it! And two more for talking about making it a weekly thing!

I hope the rest of your day has continued on as well as it started!

Who Ya gonna call? STRESSBUSTERS!

Friday, September 20, 2013

emoticon You ever have one of those days where you just feel like you can't catch up? I've been late for everything today. It's stressful but these things happen regardless of your best efforts. Stress wreaks havoc on my eating habits so today I'm going to take the time to run through some of the ways I like to relieve stress.

Sirena's Top 10 Stress Busters

emoticon1) Listen to nice soothing music
(DMB, Perhaps? I think YES!)
emoticon2) Light a candle
emoticon3) Pop open a cold one
(But just one, ok maybe 2)
emoticon 4) Breath, Just Breath
emoticon 5) Ask and receive a hug
emoticon 6) Work Out
emoticon7) Make Love like There's No Tomorrow
(Don't judge me, but step 5 might lead to step 7 so hey a twofer!)
emoticon8) Write, Journal, make list and/or Blog (Hey I got two!)
emoticon9) Watch a Movie
emoticon10) Play with the fur kids. Daphne, Eddie and Niles like this one best.

emoticonDo you have any special stress busters you'd like to share emoticon

I was actually just reading a book that talked about how important it is to control stress. Looks like you're one step ahead! I need to practice some of those solutions instead of sedating myself when I get too stressed out. Note to self...

Hope you're having a good Friday evening!

Walk of Shame

Thursday, September 19, 2013

My blog title is the reason I avoid buffets and Pot Lucks now.
I don't want to do the walk of shame leaving the restaurant or work place.
I want to do the walk of emoticon
I want to Dance the Dance of Victory emoticon
I want to do the shimmy of sucess emoticon

Let's avoid doing the walk of shame today.
When you feel like falling off the wagon (and it's unplanned), think ahead.
Do you really want to do the walk of shame?
Or do you want to walk with your head held high?

And should you want to indulge, that's ok to. Just plan ahead.
"Make it right, Be Prepared" and if you should fall "Take that walk with pride!"
-Walk of Shame by Jimmy Fallon

From this day forth there will be No More Walks of Shame!!!!!!
No more food guilt!!!!!
There will only be planned walks of awesome!!!!!

    Great blog !!

So far, this month, I have been able to dance the dance of victory. emoticon

BUT, going to the Big E in Massachusetts on Monday, and don't think I'll be staying within my calorie range. I want to have fun, and I know there will be lots of food there. At least, there will be lots and lots of walking too.

My work has pizza every other Thursday for our sales meetings. I normally load up on pizza but last night I decided to pack my lunch for today. Banana, green tea and little omelets for breakfast, tuna for lunch. I will allow myself to have ONE piece of pizza. That's it.

Daily Community Task: Biggest Accomplishment Today

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

My biggest accomplishment so far is walking on my breaks even though I am feeling run down. So far I have 6674 steps in out of 10,000. emoticon

I am going to meet a friend at the gym after work. I'll go to the gym with or without mojo today because I've been trying to get this friend to go workout with me for years. emoticon

emoticonI got caught in a downpour yesterday walking from my office to my car. It was heavy rain. It felt like a water hose was following me. I ran to my car but I was completely soaked down to my undies. My hair was dripping. I had met my brother after work. Thank goodness I had a pair of dry gym clothes in my trunk to change into. It's a real luxury to be able to hang out with my brother because of our schedules. If it had been anyone else id just have gone home. Anyways even with the change of clothes my undies were still soaked along with my socks and shoes. We hung out, went to dinner and then watched the movie Point Break with Riff Trax (Mystery Science Theatre Guys) I think staying in my wet clothes and shoes too long got me sick. emoticon

Tomorrow I have scheduled a rest day. emoticon

emoticon How's everyone doing? Did anyone get rained on as well? emoticon

Great job getting in all those steps, even feeling kinda yucky!

I got caught in a downpour like that once at a carnival. It SUCKED. You're a champ for going out to dinner in your wet undies. I fled for home as quick as I could. Sounds like the time with your bro was worth it, though!

Great accomplishment on those steps, but YUCK to getting all wet. I don't know how you stayed in anything wet, I couldn't have done it (especially undies). emoticon

It's nice that you were able to have some time with your brother. Families are so important.

Have a nice, restful evening.
