Having a rough time

I'd say that my anxiety level is high but that's an understatement. The last week of my life has just, for lack of a better word, sucked.

It started off with my physical on Monday. As you can see in my prior post that was fine. It went well actually. The trouble started that night with a fight with someone I love very much. That fight lasted until Tuesday night. It's resolved now but things are still weird.

I woke up around 4am on Wednesday to a major panic attack. Luckily I have a prescription that I use when that happens. I rarely take it, but sometimes it's just necessary. But the panicky feeling lasted all day. I wound up taking that little pill twice. Also on that day? I dropped my cell phone in a rather large puddle and it died. On the upside it meant I could upgrade to a smartphone, which I've been DYING to do.

Thursday was ok. After work I went to dinner and a movie with my boyfriend. But I had a nagging bad feeling about my class at Kaplan, which leads me to Friday. That's the day I got the call that my class was being closed. I am not pleased about that. On the upside I'm taking over a class for a few weeks while someone is on vacation, but after that it's uncertain.

So yeah. Not great. This week can only be better, right?

    I hope this week is off to a better start. I agree with MAMISHELI53, you do seem like you are finding the positive side of things. I hope you treat yourself to a smart phone and take a little time for yourself. Maybe some physical exercise will burn off some of the frustration. I have a hard time making myself take that step when I feel blah, but when I do, it always helps. Hope things turn around!

    Everything happens for a reason luv. But I totally understand, when things go bad, seems like its down hill on. U have to look at the bright things of everything that happened. Like the phone scenario. As for the fight, was a message finally sent and resolved and r both of u feeling better about getting their thought across? As for the class, your a talented young lady, and things can only get better. While one door closes another one better may open for u :)
As for the anxiety- im with ya on that. Its very hard to sway it, especially when you feel a certain way about how things should go. And I for one can only say the feeling wont last forever.... but when the feeling is there , it plan old sux. Each of us can only deal with a certain problem a certain way and hope for the best.

    You seem to be pretty good at finding the positive side of otherwise negative circumstances. Keeping accentuating that!
As a Christian I hold fast to the promise that God works all things - ALL things - together for my good (Romans 8:28) - but sometimes it's more challenging than others. My stressor right now is what to do about my mortgage - which had been in my husband's name, and he passed away, and I've just gone ahead and kept paying it. But I was advised to get it put in my name. So I've got folks giving me all kinds of advice. ARGH. I hate paperwork.

After my physical...

Good morning! It's been a couple of weeks since I posted so here's an update.

My physical: I got a mostly clean bill of health at my physical on Monday. Vitamin D is a little low but that's all my doc was concerned about. Nothing else on the blood work concerned her. That's a new one for me!

My weight: In the mid 160's. It's been this way for about a month. I'm not complaining! It hasn't gone up and that makes me happy. I'd like to see it get down to about 150 though.

My goal this week: To track my food every day, no matter what. And also to walk for a half hour a day at least 3 days.

  


Eating on a schedule

Today's SparkCoach challenge is to eat on a schedule. For example today would probably be breakfast at 8, lunch at noon, dinner at 5. If I'm hungry in between maybe a snack at 10, 2, and 7.

I've done a similar things before. Liked and disliked it. Liked it because I knew when exactly I would be eating next and had my food planned out. Disliked it because if something disrupted my schedule I felt like it threw me off. I'll give it a shot today and see how it goes though!

    I like that style of eating. I do keep a 150 calorie buffer built in, for those emergency times.

Starting Again With SparkCoach and Today's Visualization

I reactivated my SparkCoach account this morning. I realized that while I can do it alone it would be so much better to have something to hold me accountable. So here I go!

Today's visualization interested me. I'm supposed to imagine going in for a checkup, getting a completely clean bill of health, and how it feels to know I did all the right things. Actually, that's a pretty helpful one for me. I have my checkup on January 28. While I'm not expecting perfection I'd like to do everything I can between now and then to make sure it goes well.

I have to go in the week before that for a fasting blood test. God I hate those. Although I'm sure no one actually enjoys them. Until then I will keep my appointment and that test in mind while I'm making my choices.

Goal Setting and Meal Planning

Here we are at the beginning of a new week! I've just finished planning out my lessons for the week. I'm teaching a new class at Kaplan and it's all about idioms! I have a book called "A Year in the Life of an ESL Student" and a list of some popular songs (all with idioms highlighted). I have the whole week's lessons planned. I know what I need to make copies of and what to put in a little power point presentation.

When I finished planning that I decided to look through all the recipes that I've saved on Pinterest (and there are many!) and plan some meals for the week. My breakfast will be a smoothie and a breakfast sandwich. I have some SmartOnes sandwiches stocked in my freezer just in case I'm feeling too lazy to make sandwiches from scratch. I also have lots of frozen fruit, some skim milk, and some greek yogurt stocked up. My lunches will be either a SmartOnes meal, a sandwich or wrap, or some bite sized snacks. All of this is aimed towards keeping me away from the hundreds of Dunkin Donuts and other fast food places near my school.

Dinners will be far more interesting. My boyfriend and I are experimenting with some different stuff to pull us away from our all pasta/meat/veggies all the time stuff. And it will certainly keep us away from ordering pizza or subs.

Here are the various things I'd like to try for dinner. We'll see if Boyfriend agrees!

1. Black beans and rice (or quinoa) with diced tomatoes seasoned with garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes, and cilantro.

2. White chili (made with white beans, salsa, chicken broth, cooked chicken, and some mozzarella cheese). I want to add a veggie to this, not sure what. Maybe some spinach?

3. Whole wheat pasta in a butternut squash sauce with italian sausage, fresh spinach, garlic, shallots, parmesan, and sage.

4. Turkey stuffed peppers (red bell peppers stuffed with ground turkey, black beans, corn, green pepper, tomato, garlic, onions, cilantro, and cumin topped with monterey jack cheese)

5. Boyfriend makes awesome pizza! He makes his own whole wheat crust and tops it with some sauce, lots of different veggies, and some cheese. Sometimes there's a little bit of pepperoni on there too. Not always. Anyway, his pizza has become a weekly staple for us.

I also plan on making some zucchini tots (with zucchini, egg, onion, sharp cheddar, and bread crumbs) and stuffed mushrooms (maybe with some laughing cow cheese stuffed inside). Those should be handy bite-sized things to keep around for snacks and lunches.

I also am setting a goal for myself this week. Before I eat anything I will think to myself "Am I hungry? Or am I reaching for this out of stress/boredom?" If the answer isn't hunger, I will not eat what I'm reaching for. I also need to get back to the gym a few times this week. I've been lax on it!
