Day 14 of Daily Reporting:

Friday, October 07, 2011

I tracked all my food yesterday:

Calories
Eaten 1,598
BMR* 1,558
Exercise 122
Total Burned 1,680
Differential -82
Freggies 4
Water 4

Food and exercise: I got a TM workout in and went to PT. I'm getting a lot of benefit from my PT exercises for my frozen shoulder. It's really helping. Yesterday, I set out my exercise clothes in the bathroom to do my TM workout first thing this morning. It worked!!! TM workout for today is already done! What a good feeling.

Life and All: Today, I'm altering the suits my two sons are wearing at the wedding. My younger son is going to be best man for his older brother. I think that's nice.

Have a great day SparkFriends!
Hugs,
Kay

Soooo fantastic that you can alter clothes. My mother was a professional seamstress amongst her many other talents so I took up sewing at a very YOUNG age. I almost swore off sewing period when I was appointed a Career Apparel Supervisor at the bank that I worked myself up to Asst. Employment Manager. I HATE, HATE, HATE alterations...so much so that I didn't sew a stitch for years! I've finally gotten back into it but those alteration days still give me nightmares! emoticon

Another great tip, Kay - I used to do the morning thing and need to get back to it now that it's getting dark earlier. I like getting in my exercise before I know what happened.

And I tried the recipe converter thing - VERY handy. Thanks - and, yes, it's really nice that your son is going to be best man for his brother!

Day 13 of Daily Reporting

Thursday, October 06, 2011

I tracked all my food yesterday:

Calories
Eaten 1,768
BMR* 1,558
Exercise 0
Total Burned 1,558
Differential +210

Freggies: 5
Water: 6

Food and exercise: too much food...not enough exercise....will work on this today! We have been having wonderful fall weather here. I have no excuse for not exercising.

Life and all: My mom went back out to the assisted living place I showed her over the weekend and had her name officially put on the list to move in. She is actually excited about moving there. I'm so glad that she is. I think it will be a wonderful move for her. This place seems particularly nice.

Over the last week, I've spent a lot of time clothes shopping. I had gained weight over the summer and my regular jeans don't fit. I decided to get some pants that fit until I lose my summer weight gain. The first thing that I noticed is that vanity sizing is making clothes even bigger than they were two years ago when I bought my regular jeans. Although my old jeans don't fit, the new ones I bought...at the same store as my old jeans are a size SMALLER! I have to say that I'm never impressed when I read someone say that they can fit into a size 6....I think that's really about a size 12 from 20 years ago! Just saying!

Oh well....off my soap box.

Have a great day Sparkfriends! I WILL get out and enjoy the fabulous weather today....in my new jeans ;-)

Hugs,
Kay

You are so right about today's 6 being a size 12 twenty years ago. Until recently, I made all of my clothes. My pattern size was (and still is) a 12 with some adjustments at the hip. But off the rack, I'm a 6. Or sometimes even a 4. I'm 5'7" and I'm not that thin. I've always wondered what someone 5'4" does -- a negative size?

Clothing sizes vary so much, it drives me crazy. I agree with the way things are sized now as compared with 20 years ago. I was just thinking about it the other day. I'm a size 12 now, but my 12's in the past were so much smaller! Have a great day.

I have to agree with you on the vanity sizing thing. It makes it so difficult to know what size we really are because there really aren't any standard sizes for women. Very frustrating for me!

As I was watching a weight loss infomercial while riding my bike at the gym today - I noticed that one of the men said he'd gone from a size 50 pants - down to a 38. I couldn't help but think that we women would never allow sizing that was based on our actually inches!!

Day 12 of Daily Reporting

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

Yesterday, I tracked all my food:

Calories
Eaten 1,253
BMR* 1,558
Exercise 0
Total Burned 1,558
Differential -305

Water: 4
Freggies: 5

The above information is from Sparkpeople's calorie differential reports.

Food: I used the SP "makeover" feature in the recipe section for the first time yesterday to make tracking easier. I had made a ham and cheese casserole last night for dinner. Instead of creating a new recipe in SP from scratch, I just found one that was similar and made it over with the ingredients that I actually used. Easy peasy!!!

Life and all: Had a nice time with friends yesterday. Have PT today....need to do at least 100 calories of cardio today too.

Have a great day Sparkfriends!

Hugs,
Kay

Days 10 and 11 of Daily Reporting

Monday, October 03, 2011

I spent 11 hours yesterday driving back from Tennessee to Illinois. I wasn't on the computer at all yesterday, so this blog covers the last two days.

I tracked all my food both days.

Saturday:

Calories
Eaten 1,509
BMR* 1,558
Exercise 0
Total Burned 1,558
Differential -49
Freggies:3
Water: 4

Sunday:

Calories
Eaten 2,010
BMR* 1,558
Exercise 0
Total Burned 1,558
Differential +452
Freggies: 5
Water:8

Food: Pizza last night after we got home from the long drive did me in on calories. Getting back to tracking again really helps me see where I'm going "wrong".

Life and all: I took my mom to an brand new retirement complex while I was in Tennessee that she really liked. The next day, she called and asked to have her name put on the waiting list. The first people started moving in last week and it's unclear how many people are actually going to fit the eligibility requirements to move in as they go through the list. Mom may be able to move in right away or it may be a while. My brother and his wife are also going to look at places in the town where they live in the meantime. I feel fortunate that Mom actually wants to move into assisted living. A lot of parents don't want to move into assisted living when they can't manage caring for a house on their own.

While we were in Tennessee over the weekend, my husband and I got a lot of things accomplished for my son's wedding at our house in Tennessee in three weeks. Things are really shaping up on that front. It's going to be nice, and I don't think it will be too hard to prepare the food. I'll be serving food to about 20 people the night before and about 40 people at the wedding. I've started getting the food preparation all planned out in detail. It will be good! I think/hope! ;-)

Have a great day Sparkfriends!
Hugs,
Kay

I have absolutely NO doubt that you will have a bang up food display for your son's wedding. Just try your best to keep it simple. I'm accustomed to feeding large crowds so if you need ideas...I'm here for you spark sista! emoticon

God has the perfect plan and I'm glad that your mother is coming around on the assisted living plan. It will help relieve the pressure you and your brother have been under in caregiving...I'm sending prayers your way for her to make a good choice and be well cared for. emoticon

Day 9 of Daily Reporting

Saturday, October 01, 2011

Yesterday, I tracked all my food:

Calories
Eaten 2,205
BMR* 1,558
Exercise 0
Total Burned 1,558
Differential 647

Freggies: 1
Water:6

Food: At 7 pm, I was in my calorie range. I suggested to DH that we go to DQ for ice cream. I got a small Blizzard with Reeses pieces.....WOW! 800 calories. Learned my lesson....track first then eat! I would have never done that had I known the darn thing was 800 calories. I know my Freggie count was ridiculously low. Today WILL be better.

Life and All: I spent a lot of time with Mom yesterday. I'm really happy with how well we got along. I took her to a really nice assisted living place that she seemed to like. It was so nice that I would enjoy living there! I hope she goes for it, but she is going to look at some others in the town where my brother (who helped care for Dad) lives. Mom is coping very well with Dad's passing. It's making it much easier to deal with her than it used to be when Dad was alive.

Have a great day, Sparkfriends!
Hugs,
Kay

So glad to know that your mum is doing okay. and what a help to know she will look into assisted living. DAD and mum refused. Dad has gotten worse to take care of since mum has been gone, although has agreed to raised toilet seat and a machine to lower him inand up out of the tub by himself. think that is cos the vets pay for it. Geesh. but he is doing okay, knows he is getting weaker but thats better than not acknoweldging it.
HUGS and have a good visit!
