Jane Fonda and me...

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

...yeah we go way back. Let me explain:

Years ago, when Jane Fonda came out with one of her first exercise tape...I bought it, new workout clothes, shoes, the whole package. I was going to exercise with Jane Fonda!

So okay, pop in the tape, and for about 3 minutes into it, I plopped down on the couch, panting and sweating like a hog...still watching Jane. 3 minutes later...she claps her hands and says..." that we're warmed up, let's exercise!"

That was it for me, I never played the tape or wore the workout clothes again. I was mortified, humiliated and crushed...I mean, I couldn't even get through the warm-up moves?? And to top it off, I weighed a mere 118 pounds at that time!!

I bring the above up because today I saw the video 10-Minute Cardio Kickboxing Workout with Coach Nicole. Okay...after reading the comments and sitting through the 10 minutes to see what the workout entailed...I jumped in to give it a shot.

I lasted all of 2 minutes into excuse, but I'm 70 pounds overweight, old and definitely wayyyy out of shape. It reminded me back when I wanted to work-out with Jane Fonda.

Difference here is, tomorrow I'm giong to do this workout again...go for 3 minutes and so on each day until I reach the 10 minutes (or die trying) and hope to continue doing it every day as a ritual. I WILL DO IT!

Thank you all for kind comments and encouragement. Yes, I do have Leslie Sanone's videos...and I do walk anywhere from 30-60 minutes a day. I also ride stationary bike 30 minutes a day (all new in last 2-3 weeks). I also fool around with the exercise I'm getting the hang of it slow but sure. So happy I found (stumbled upon it looking for a recipe.) I have to literally push myself away from computer to exercise because I'm so enjoying reading, reading and reading more on the SparkPeople pages. Love finding new recipes too! Thank you again for the support.

I bought the Jane Fonda book and exercised to that (before VHS). I have been doing Coach Nicole's DVD's and like them. Have you ever tried Leslie Sansone "Walk at Home" DVD's? They are doable for most anyone with just four different moves. I was 70 pounds overweight and I did those DVD's most days of the week. You can do this.

Who knew...?

While searching for a fast/simple microwave snack, I cam across Microwave Potato Chips. After reading all the comments...eye-balling a lone potato on the counter...I decided to give it a try. It was DELICIOUS! One small potato sliced in food processor made a lot of chips! I had lots of calories still in the budget for the day so I dipped the chips in Labneh (Light) which is thick cream cheese...topped it off with chives. I will be making this recipe again for sure. So long Pringles, which I had crossed off my shopping list forever once I joined SparkPeople. At least I know I won't have a weak moment and grab a can of two while grocery shopping. This recipe takes all of 10 minutes at most. Clean-up a breeze. 1 potato serves 2...1 serving 84 calories.

Really had a great day today. I walked for an hour, stationary bike for 25 minutes and been up moving around all day...usually I'm sitting reading, on computer or texting on cell. I FEEL GOOD!

7 pounds gone and never coming back!

Monday, June 10, 2013

I feel so good. My first 9 days since joining SparkPeople, I lost 7 pounds 220 to 213 doing a little of Dukan Diet and counting calories and wow...exercising. The word 'exercise' was never in my personal dictionary. Now once motivated to start...I actually am enjoying it.

I read The Spark and Spark Solution on iPad while cycling. I listen and dance to my favorite tunes on iPhone or iPod, whichever is closest at hand at the time I'm moved to dance around the room. Then there is Leslie Sanone walking program...all at home.

Spare time is going through and saving recipes. Tried one last night...Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken...delicious!

Another word that is no longer in my personal dictionary. 'try" I just DO IT!
