The groom can't see the bride before the wedding, but you guys can! My friend Lacy took lots of pics of me on the day we went dress shopping. Also with me was my mom, my future mother and sister-in-law, and another girlfriend, Nikki. People were surprised I found my dress the first time out, but I had spent months going through images of dresses on various sites. I went in with very specific ideas about what I wanted (mermaid or trumpet style, prefer halter or straps to strapless) and what I didn't want (no pick-ups, no empire waistlines, a dress that cost more than my car)
This is the first dress I tried on - I almost thought I'd found the one on the spot! I loved how tiny it made my waist look.
This is a dress that I liked in theory, but not on me at all. The mermaid style and the ruched fabric were pretty unforgiving of my wide hips.
The sash helped a little, but this one never stood a chance.
I had looked at this one for a long time. I liked the classic, old fashioned styling and the keyhole back. It had been in my David's Bridal favorites and also pinned on my Pinterest page for a long time. But either the size was wrong or the cut around the upper body was off for me, because I was a little disappointed with it once I had it on.
This dress was one of my favorites as soon as I put it on. I had seen it and added it to my favorites on David's Bridal that morning. My mom and future sister-in-law saw it on the sales rack and brought it over to me. (not knowing I'd already scoped it out online) You can tell from my smile how much I like it. That's my real smile, not my "say cheese for the camera" smile.
My sales consultant brought this dress over to try, based on how much I liked the skirt on the previous dress. This one wasn't a hit for me though. It didn't feel like me, I almost didn't bother walking out of the dressing room in it. Also, one of my friends said it makes me look like a giant shrimp
This dress was a real test of will. When I came out in it, everyone ooh'd and aww'd. My two girlfriends especially liked it. The detail on it was lovely. But I didn't like the fit of it, I didn't feel sexy and unique and awesome. So despite everyone else loving it, we moved on.
I really liked this one a lot. It's similar in style to the very first one, but with more bling.
So after some deliberation, and trying a few things on a second time, I made my decision. The second time I put this dress on, I knew it was mine. I didn't want to take it off.
I love the pleated ruffles at the bottom. It reminds me of the ocean and seashells. The top of it fit perfectly, I won't need any alterations there at all. Which is good because it's a clearance dress that originally had a 4 figure price tag, which I got for under $500. So it was meant to be, and I got it at a great price!
I'm so happy to get to share my happiness and excitement with my Spark Friends!
