Reflecting of the past.

Monday, September 27, 2010

To anyone just starting out on this lifestyle journey, I know how daunting the future seems.
How can I cope being restricted to a certain amount of calories or do the so foreign exercise regime that go hand in hand towards the goals that we aim for?

I can now speak from the experiences of continuing success as I look back to the beginning.

In the beginning, I found it hard to walk without getting breathless.
I struggled to tie my laces, feed the dogs or do anything more than sitting and eating!

I can tell you that life wasn't good, and for once in 48 years I knew that I needed to do something and something that would stick.

My success is simple when I look back on it all, and to anyone starting out please take note!

You never put the weight on overnight and therefore you DO need to realise that this journey will take more than one or two nights to rid yourself of it!
But rid yourself of it you will, just by taking one day at a time.

I used to live for Saturday mornings, which is when I used to weigh myself and, also take delivery of our weekly groceries.
The groceries were a big key to my success and by using the nutrition tracker, I could work out all the things I needed for the week ahead and further weight loss!

Planning was/is essential. Failing to plan is planning to fail. I always did and still do so, that way I never "cheated" and kept to my meal plans.
The bonus of all of this was that coupled with the calories I was burning through exercise, I found that I was losing weight and still able to consume half as many calories again as the "average" man's intake of 2,500................I was consuming 3,750 a day and still losing 4 pounds a week!

I remember wishing the weeks away just to get at Saturday mornings to be able to see that weeks loss! And loss it always was with an average of 3-4 pounds!

I am now (as some of you are aware) attending Gym EVERY day and able to undertake tasks I never thought would ever be possible again as the years went flying by!

You don't have to take it to this extreme, just a little at a time will get the job done, but, be aware! vanity comes into play, and when the wonderful compliments come your way, it drives us on! And soon, you too will be climbing mountains that you never thought possible!

My stress levels are so much lower and I am now able to deal with so many problems that come throughout life as we all know.

The clothes that I can now buy are regular off of the peg with the bonus that I am not paying an inflated price because they are bigger!

Life is so much better on every front, and my only regret is that I didn't find this site and apply myself sooner (years back).

Anyone starting out will know how fast the weeks, months and years fly by, and to think where you could be in 3 months, 6 months or even a year from now by just taking little steps every day. They all add up and make a HUGE difference.
They have to me and now I laugh at how I used to look when I started under 2 years ago.

Give it a go and you too could/can be like me and looking back at how life has changed!

Good luck and have a good (dry) Monday!
Chris.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Gym today.

11Km at level 6 on the bike and did it 18 minutes 42 seconds!
Knocked off 1 minute and 9 seconds from yesterdays PB!!!.
Gee did I sweat!!!

All the other cardio and weights were done and some awesome figures were achieved.

Total Tonnes pushed and lifted 38.09 Tonnes...........beaten Pb by 9.81 Tonnes!!!!

Calories burned today was 1,818 (!!!) beating pb by 276 calories for one session!!!

I knew that someday that these figures would fall and now that new achievements have been attained, it's all out to better them!
I understand that it gets harder all of the time but, Hey! there there to knocked off!!!
Some days things can be creamed and today was one such as this!!!!

That's all folks! Keep Sparking and stay happy!

Well done, I really enjoy beating my previous best, I tend to do better if someone is next to me, and I try and win them, its a challange, trouble is I end up like a beetroute with having red hair!

OH YES!

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Yesterday I had a review at the Gym and things have changed!

Today was the start of the change, and boy, am I bushed!!

Bike level 6 (I always use level 6 for free training at the end of my workouts normally), cover 11Km in 20 minutes or less. The legs are going at an average of 113rpm and at times are like Bee's wings! Result 19 minutes and 51 seconds!
It's easy but extremely hard (???). If you ever try it, you'll know what I mean.
257 calories burned.

Next was treadmill set for 20 minutes at 6.5 KHM (fast walk speed)

2 Minutes at 1.5% gradient
2 Minutes at 2% ''
2 Minutes at 4% ''
2 Minutes at 6% ''
2 Minutes at 8% ''
2 Minutes at 10% ''
2 Minutes at 12% ''
2 Minutes at 10% ''
2 Minutes at 5% ''
2 Minutes at 1 % ''

261 calories burned.

10 metres short of my personal best on the rowing machine (shame) 251 calories burned.

28.3 Tonnes pushed and lifted, and in total 1430 calories burned.

Now looking forward to tomorrows beasting!

Enjoy whatever you do this weekend,

See you tomorrow!
Chris.

Friends like you!

Thank you!

Thank you to all of you who have shown concern regarding the fact that I haven't blogged for the last 7-10 days.
I honestly have nothing to really report that has any worth that hasn't been written already, and for the not wanting to keep repeating and becoming boring, I "just" haven't done any!

So, soon I will get back on the job and be writing everyday!

Have a nice weekend and see you all again soon!
Chris.

Wonderful food.

Friday, September 17, 2010

The food that I eat has been so good of late and all the correct things as well.
I know that some folks may think it repetitive but, when you enjoy it so much and knowing how good it is for you, it makes for nicer eating.
Everyday Smoked Mackerel for breakfast followed my Water Melon and 2 or 3 other fruits for lunch and then for dinner Stir fry with Turkey breast, or Jacket Potato and Cottage cheese etc.etc. and supper is usually a Yogurt.
I love it all!

That all said now, I'm off to walk the boys and then some garden work, so will be ready for some food after that!

Have a nice Friday all and good Sparking!
Chris.
