Memorial Day Weekend

Monday, May 25, 2009

Ahhh, Memorial Day weekend, you are filled with oh so many temptations. However, I will not be persuaded to derail my progress for a few moments of pleasure. Be certain that this time next year when I have reached my goal weight, I will look back on this weekend and laugh at the torture I thought I was being put through. I will overcome and I will win. Yes, this is now a game for me. The game of my life, yes. I will WIN... oh yes I WILL WIN!!! emoticon emoticon

Day 10

Monday, May 18, 2009

Today has been great!! I worked my butt off at the gym today and still feel like doing the walking tape (Walking Off the Pounds) with my Mom this evening. The weather was really nice today. Kinda cool this morning, but it warmed up this afternoon. I just have one question.... where do people get those cute little weight tickers?

On your Sparkpage there should be an option to design and show your weight ticker.

Day 7

Saturday, May 16, 2009

I've very disappointed today. I went over on my fat intake and went under on my carb. and protein intake. I just don't get it. I'm trying my best and still failing. I will not give up. I will learn how to eat right. I will put this is the "Oh well" column of my life and move on. But i can't help the feeling that tomorrow's weigh-in might not be so good.

In the same way that you do not lose weight in one day just because you are eating better, your body is not aware of how much of each of the three core nutrients you are eating each day (provided you are not starving). Instead of beating yourself up about being under a range one day, try to aim for your weekly averages to be the middle of each range. If you follow the government guidelines for determining your nutrient intakes, you will see what it is the middle of the range that SP gives you for your calorie range.

There are some easy fixes for you and your children. Instead of bacon, try canadian bacon for breakfast. Cutting sugary drinks from your diet will make it much easier for you to stay within your calorie range and is much better for you. Try Sprite Zero, or a single serving of Sprite until you are ready to swear off the sugary beverages altogether. I love popcorn, too, but it is easy to cut out some fat by selecting lighter butter or air popping your own! My family loved fresh popped popcorn when I was young, and I am sure your girls would love a healthy family snack like popcorn.

I know it seems impossible right now, but making your food choices to fit your needs will get easier as you start to learn the balance of nutrients in each food that you like to eat. Try filling out your daily food log in the morning, before you eat anything. I think you will find that you can eat quite a lot on 1200-1400 calories with good planning and plenty of vegetables. If you know that you are going to have a busy day, throw snacks into your bag, or even a sandwich for lunch! Having good choices on hand will make it easier for you to be satisfied within your limits and keep you from having popcorn and soda for lunch.

Good luck on your journey, and remember that message boards are here to help! I am sure that any question you will have, someone else will have had, and can help you through.

Day 6

Thursday, May 14, 2009

I'm excited!!! I talked to mu sweet hubby last night (he's deployed right now) and he says that more than likely they will home in about two months or so!! I'm looking forward to feeling his arms wrapped around me!! I'm hoping that I can get down to just 300 by then. That would be awesome!!! I know that's a lot of work and weight to lose between now and then, but I'm up for the challenge. As my Daddy says, "Ain't nothin to it but to do it!"

Day 5

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Today is day number five on my journey to a better me. I worked out today at the gym for 30 minutes. It seemed like forever! Maybe it's just because I'm just getting started, I hope so. My heart rate got up to 145 today, don't know if that's good or bad. But I ended up burning
365 calories today. Or at least that what the treadmill thingie told me. I stayed within my boundries as far as calories, fat, ect.

My girls keep me from backing out of this. They don't actually DO anything, but I really want to still be around for their weddings and to see my grandchildren. I want to be able to be here for them. I also don't want them to be embarassed by their fat mom. Kids can be very cruel. I should know, I was always the "fat kid".
