New Year/New Start

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

Happy New Year to you and to me.

Starting this again, again.
It's a new year and I have a few things I'm looking forward to. I want to look good and feel good again.
I need to watch what I eat and somehow find some exercises I can do within my physical abilities.
I. Will. Do. This. and I'm starting right now!

New Start

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

I was so proud of myself last year when I hit my goal weight.
I am so disgusted with myself that I have slid so far off track this year.
I am starting this program over again... starting today.
SparkPeople is now my home page.
I have changed my Spark Page and updated my trackers.
I am getting serious about this, again.

My only excuse for letting myself go is self-pity.
Brand new health issues kind of sent me for a loop and I stopped taking care of what I was doing, here. No more! I'm getting back on track right now.

Bye-bye Favorite Foods

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

I just up-dated the list of my favorite foods, here.
Actually, I deleted quite a few of them.
With a recent diagnosis of diverticulitis I can no longer eat some of my favorite foods.
I deleted corn, popcorn, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, salsa, all nuts and all seeds and anything else that might bring back the pain.
I'm sad.

Hope that your focus on healthy foods for you has made the diverticulitis a thing of the past.

Sorry to hear that! Every item you listed, I've had to eliminate from my diet, too, because of IBS and ulcerative colitis. I can't eat any fruit at all! It's very sad. :(

Ready, Set, Go... Again

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Ok, I'm starting this weigh-loss thing all over again.
I want to lose the 10-15 pounds I gained since hitting my goal last year.
I'm still in quite a bit of pain due to shoulder trouble, but I'm going to track my food and walk, walk, walk.
My Dr. said I look good and walking should get me back on track.

I have been diagnosed with arthritis of the shoulder?
I didn't even know that was possible.
Right now I'm in quite a bit of pain and moving is difficult.
Exercise is proving to be quite a challenge.
The meds I'm on for the next 30 days has to be taken with a meal... at 10 PM?
There goes this careful diet and exercise plan I've been struggling with.

Sorry to read about your shoulder. Take your time. Focus on healing and doing the things you can do that don't create other problems. Slowly and steadily over time. All the best!!

So sorry to hear this. I have heard of this because by educational background is in Occupational Therapy and I dealt with lots of different types of arthritis. I hope the meds work for you. Maybe you can just have a yogurt or some oatmeal. Something small.

I hope the meds at least help you through some of the pain. Did you discuss exercise with the doctor, or activities that you might be able to do or ways to minimize the pain to that shoulder while exercising?

Does the pill have to be taken with a full meal, or just with/after eating some food? You could decide on a snack item for evening and adjust your calories for the day to fit that in. (Eating late doesn't affect our metabolism or make us gain weight. It can be tough for people who tend to mindlessly snack, but if you plan it, you should be fine.)
