So excited!

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

My size 12 pants have been fitting really loose but I have been really nervous about trying my 10's on for fear that they wouldn't fit. I finally got up enough courage and found that they fit perfectly. WooHoo! Another goal met. I can do this even tho it has been slower going than I would like. Patience Dona, patience!

Good for you! Losing weight slowly pays off because it's not going to jump back. I know that patience routine is hard as I fight it every day to not give up. Only 8 more pounds to your goal!

raking leaves

Sunday, November 08, 2009

As I was raking leaves today I began to reminisce about how we used to play in the leaves as kids while raking them. First we raked them into walls for our "house". We started with the kitchen then the living room followed by the bedrooms and finally the bathroom. After that was all done then we played house for awhile. As the oldest I was always the mother. My brother was the father and my sister was the baby. Some times the neighborhood kids joined in with us. What a "family" we had then. When we were finally done with that we would rake the leaves into a big pile and jump into them. Finally we would rake them to the curb where my uncle would start a big bonfire with them(imagine trying to do that now!). How much more fun raking leaves was then! emoticon

Lots of fun imagination we used,,,no TV or computer in our time. My DIL has day care and the kids play in our two yards which are fenced together. It's so funny and entertaining to watch her kids playing in the leaves...piling them at the end of the slide, etc. Lots of fond memories!

Thank you for sharing your memories.
You brought some wonderful ones back to me.
I loved being a child.....aren't we so fortunate to have been born when we were?
I think so.

Wow you were creative. We only raked and jumped in them. I guess 5 girls had enough trouble raking all those leaves. I raked with my granddaughter last year though. What fun we had together.

Granddaughterisms

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Well since Monday when all was right with the world it has done nothing but rain and be cold! I'm trying not to complain about the weather because it is going to be a long cold winter and it hasn't even started. So last nIght I had my children and grandchildren over for supper and you know how children say the darnedest things and last night was no different This time it was my grandaughter who will be 3 on Monday. We had salad and she wanted frutons on hers. We had dinner rolls and I said we have real butter and fake butter(meaning margarine). Well she wanted steak butter. Then we were talking about her birthday and the subject of cupcakes came and she wanted some pupcakes. A couple of good belly laughs and things seem right again. Love my grandchildren as you never know what they will say next. emoticon emoticonBTW she thinks she's a princess and of course in my book she is!

I feel great!

Monday, October 19, 2009

I'm on vacation, the sun is shining and it is in the 60's. What a fabulous start to my staycation. Was out all afternoon raking and bagging leaves. Also was trimming trees and tying them up so they can be picked up this week. Lots of great exercise and time spent outside. Oh, also listening to great music on my iPod shuffle. I hope time slows to a crawl this week. Tomorrow should be great too.

staycation

Saturday, October 17, 2009

I'm on vacation this week but am not going any where. I'm planning on getting plenty of exercise while doing yard work( if the weather cooperates with me!). I love raking but hate bagging the leaves! And when the weather doesn't cooperate there is always plenty to do in the house. Have some grandchildren time blocked out too of course! Time will of course fly by but hope to get in some reading too. Tomorrow is of course reserved for football. Go Packers!

Hi, hon - I really enjoy staycations - as long as I can give myself permission to relax a bit. Have fun. I'll bet your grandchildren will enjoy jumping into the piles of leaves. Maybe you, too...
