I've been trying to do more biking. It's not like when I was a kid and I could go forever and even let go of the handlebars! But I've been working on going longer each time I go, Now if I could only develop some callouses on my bum! Then maybe I could go forever. emoticon emoticon

    I plan to get a bike once the surgeon agrees as I am still in total knee recovery. I plan to find one of the stands to covert it to an indoor bike for the winter so it can do double duty. As a kid I used to walk and bike miles and miles every day and think nothing of it. Oh to be young again!

I-pod shuffle

For my birthday my children got me an I-pod shuffle and I finally got it loaded with fast paced music. I went for a walk with it last night and the music really helped me to pickup and maintain a fast pace. Worked just as I had hoped it would. Currently has about 5 hours of music. That should help me to keep going. Maybe even be able to add some short bursts of running. emoticon

    I have a shuffle too and it has really helped push me...I always do the "one more song" then I can stop...I usually end up going 3-5more songs lol.

    No ipod for me but I do have an MP3. It really helps when you want to lose yourself in your exercise. The time goes by so much faster and before you know it you are done.

    I love my iPod! There are a couple of fitness podcastst that give you music to workout to - fast paced kinda techno style (which just so happens to be my favorite for working out) one is called Podrunner and the other is called fitmusic.

kick in the pants

Boy do I need a kick in the pants! Can't seem to get motivated to exercise and when I do it seems halfhearted! It feels like work is dragging me down. Can't seem to control what goes in my mouth, eating but not finding what I want so keep searching. Hope tomorrow brings renewed vigor and determination. Now I'm out the door to at least walk! emoticon

    Hey a walk is better then nothing. at least try and do that till you get yourself back on track. don't feel bad about not wanting to exercise, we all have those days, you just have to keep on trying, you will win. Don't give up!!! WALK WALK WALK!! emoticon

I have felt what you are feeling but I see you are heading out to walk. I bet you feel better when you get back...Ahhhh---the magic of endorphins!
I am so tired some days after work I can barely walk to the car, sometimes I just sit there in the parking lot of the hospital and say DAMN!
You will be OK, it is all just balance. You have done well and I bet you will revive quickly.

Loud, fast paced music

Yesterday I was really feeling down. With encouragement from spark friends, I was able to finally go to my sure fire cure for the doldrums. I filled the CD player with my favorite loud, fast paced music. . That was enough to get me moving. I cleaned house and mowed the lawn. That feeling of accomplishment really brought me out of my funk! Today I'm still using my "cure".

    I LOVE working out and doing other stuff to loud, fast paced music! I sing, I march, I MOVE!! Who says exercise and making points has to be a chore?

Am I any further ahead than a year ago? My weight wentup from original posting but I have succeeded in losing that and more. Yay for me! I have continued to increase excerise minutes altho I can sporadic at this. With coming year I will continue to lose weight and become more consistent with exercise.
