I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel....

Greetings fellow sparkers.

First let me apologize for completely dropping the ball this last month on all things spark, things have been going non stop for me...

I am picking up the last batch of paperwork today so that I can teach a "Shimmy to be Fit" class at the local recreation center...I'm offering the first month free so that potential students can learn what belly dance is all about :) I am soooo excited...

This Saturday begins shimmy mob 2012 rehearsals, if you haven't heard of it you really need to check it out, it is going to be amazing. So a lot of my time has been going to learning that choreography so that I can teach it to others who are participating....

I'm also in the middle of making a new wood burning for my NEW great nephew - he's the first whoo hoo

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my life - more on fitness later

Peace love and jelly bellies for all

Wonderful Wednesday

Wednesday, February 08, 2012

Just a quick note before I head to bed.

Had a wonderful Shimmy to be fit class tonight, I am hoping I can get attendance up, the money would be good but I really want to share this dance with everyone!

Starting a new business is rather discouraging sometimes I only had 2 girls show up tonight. I really need to follow up with the local community center. I need consistent attendance to make this work. Say a prayer y'all I need some encouragement in the worst way.

So if you are reading this and you know anyone who is in the DFW area and wants to take a cardio belly class let me know. It has the intensity of zumba but is a no impact workout :-)

love to all!

Terrific Tuesday

Tuesday, February 07, 2012

Good morning fellow sparkers! Hope your Tuesday is going as great as mine. :-)

Today is Technique Tuesday - this means I will spend at least 30 minutes this morning thinking of new and fun ways to challenge the girls in my Wednesday class to continue their journey as they shimmy their way to fitness...Think we will work on arms this week.

Tonight is also Tuesdays with Cathy in Denton. So excited, she is such a wonderful lady and brings a whole new dimension to the fun and sisterhood that is belly dance. We start with a 15 minute zil practice then it's time for me to learn more teaching methods as she teaches the beginner class. Immediately after that we have an intermediate class which is lots of fun. I think we are starting a new cane piece soon - so so excited!!! I'll be ordering my cane on Friday. ;-)

I am also working on a new costume today. I almost have the straps ready to be sewn on the bra, once that is done I will spend about a week (or more) beading the whole thing - wish me luck - will post pictures soon promise.

Well that's it for now - it's time to flip the laundry and work on combo's for my Wednesday class.

Peace, love jellybeans and belly kisses y'all ~*~ ~*~

Happy February

Sunday, February 05, 2012

Howdy y'all.

Well I am a member of a spark team that seems to have died a slow death :( BUT I've decided to attempt to revive it. I applied to be a team leader and now I am so I'm trying to add a little 'spark' to the team.

So come check out the team and help us revive team B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L

Anyway. I've created a dance space in my house so if you know of anyone interested in a 'Belly Fit' class let me know. I posted class information on my new site. Still haven't heard from the local rec centers so I'll be heading out Monday for face to face time with these locations. :) I need to learn to become proactive.

Have a great week y'all.

You're right, we used to be such an active team, and I enjoyed how we used to support each other. I've been leaving some motivational quotes on our message board. I hope you can bring back some interest. Thanks!

busy Busy busy

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Sorry guys I've been so so busy this past week I haven't had time to update my blog or even any of my trackers here at the spark. In between my current studies for Sports Conditioning, and taking and teaching belly dance, helping kids with homework, researching colleges with the oldest and trying to find time to just breathe busy doesn't even begin to describe my life at the moment. lol I've been keeping a handwritten log though and I will try to set aside time by this coming Sunday to update everything.

Headaches have passed along they are coming and going as I am reducing the amount of caffeine that I am ingesting. When you drink a lot of caffeine you blood vessels will shrink a bit, this means less blood flow, so that when you remove that drug from your system, your blood vessels open back up the way they are meant to be so the amount and speed of your blood flow increases, this can lead to what is referred to as a caffeine headache - and let me tell you - they are WORSE then migraines. Sooooo, instead of quitting cold turkey I'm reducing the amount I drink slowly, I am for example 'cutting' my coffee with decaf - half decaf , half regular ;-) in addition to lower the amount I drink :-) Anyway here's a good article on some of the myths of caffeine:

So stay tuned for updates early next week!

Peace, love, jellybeans and belly kisses for all emoticon emoticon

@Martha - I get the decaf Snickernut beans at CM now ;) I grind half decaf and half regular and mix them - I am hoping to go to decaf completely soon :)

I was going to cut coffee out altogether this year but I have yet to get started. Darn those yummy coffee beans from Central Market. I do pick up decaf often but when the headache hits I run for a Dr Pepper. I only drink coffee in the morning so you would think it would be easy to give up.

Thanks for the quick lesson on caffeine headaches and why they happen. (I have too many friends/co-works hooked on that drug) Cutting back before quitting - smart move and less painful.

Wow...I'm worn out just reading your blog! "Busy" seems like too short of a word for your life right Hang in there, keep working hard, & keep sparking! Good luck w/the caffeine withdrawals..... :/
