OKAY ..... PLACES EVERYONE.... HERE COME THE PEOPLE.
REMEMBER TO ACT CUTE.
I had a fantastic time yesterdayÖ. In more ways than one.
The zoo was great. If you want to see people at their best, go to a zoo. Watch people enjoying themselves in an environment that encourages family values. Even big tough biker types melt into marshmallows when they have their kids in their arms while they enjoy seeing Momma bear playing with her cubs. Donít know if the zoo brings out the humanity in people or the Ďnicerí people pick the zoo to enjoy with their families, but it works.
My dearest friends are a couple. Theyíve been there for me in countless ways, and Iím always amazed at the things I learn from them. The magical thing is that even though we became friends in our 40ís, I found out yesterday how closely connected our pasts are. We all lived in different sections of the Bronx. We went from the zoo, to her neighborhood and then to my neighborhood for dinner. If you want to see the passing of time, revisit a section of the city you havenít seen in over twenty years. Yikes! In our youth we went to the same movie theaters, the same shopping centers, and the same restaurants. Her school was next door to a school I attended. A restaurant they frequented when they first dated was a restaurant I used to go to in my old neighborhood. And New York isnít a small little town. A number of years ago my company moved from New Jersey to Connecticut, into the same building she worked in years before, for a different company. The coincidences are amazing. Itís as if we were always just a hairs breadth from running into each other, until at last I moved to their building in New Jersey. And it doesnít stop there, before we really got to know each other, they bought a second unit in the same building and moved into the unit adjacent to mine. Small world. Some friendships are just meant to be.
We ended up at a diner. Now... there is something about an endless menu and diner food that is just not suited to dieting. Maybe itís the mega portions, the fries, or the bread they automatically bring to the table, but I went blank when they brought me my food. I am happy to report that I managed to take off the top slice of bread on my vegetable panini. But when I logged my food last night, I completely disregarded the sweet potato fries that we had inhaled. It wasnít until I got on the scales this morning that I remembered. I vaguely remember telling the waiter "no fries", heard the word sweet potato, and changed my mind to yes in a nano second. Inner child strikes again. Sneaky Ö. Very very sneaky.
So today, itís hot and humid again. Iíve got my fruit and veggies waiting. My sun tea is brewing. Iím about to hop in the shower and venture out for an early morning walk. And Iím going to try to stay cool.
Make the day countÖ..
