Each T-Shirt is another Slip

Thursday, April 29, 2010

I came across this clip of the Guiness Record for most t-shirts worn at a time.
When I started this quest I had OVER 100 pounds to lose.
Watching this video is a visual reminder of how easy it is to add on the pounds
and a reminder of why it's so much harder to take off...

BECAUSE YOU CAN BARELY MOVE !!!!

Guiness Record Most T Shirts Worn at a time.
It is as if each t-shirt is another slip.

I'm not going back and I still have a long road ahead but I'll make it.
Thank you my friends for all your support...I truly appreciate it.

Exercise is tough right now

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

I'm still working through a lot of issues...I'm fighting depression and anger.
And I cannot afford to hang on to either one.

My food pendulum finally stopped swinging between not eating anything and bingeing. But I'm having a rough time getting motivated to exercise again. My heart isn't into dancing, and walking let's me think too much and drags me down. I could use some help.

here's a smile for you

Your toes have been over ruled. Get your butt out there and exercise. Seriously, I wish I were there because I would come and get you and take you for a walk. Forget your troubles and just walk. The exercise will help the depression and anger. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Spring. Please do this for me. emoticon

So many good suggestions, Sher. I know when you are depressed, it is tough to do anything.
Focus on the good job you are doing on eating.
I also crank up the music when my thoughts overwhelm me when I am working out.
You might try a new workout DVD. When I have to concentrate to learn a new routine, it keeps my mind from engaging in those dark thoughts.
We are all here for you. Wish we were closer so we could all come by and spend some time with you, laughing and talking!

You have been given some great advice from the comments above. I would only add, that I think that your unbelievable sense of humor will also keep you strong. You normally tend to look at the humorous side of life, and this will slowly, but surely come back each day to make you stronger. Without my sense of humor, some of the issues I have had to endure would have beaten me. You will be fine. Time is definitely a healer. emoticon

How about some strength exercises while sitting in a chair watching some of your favorite movies? There are a lot of exercises listed on the fitness page. This may sound too passive for you, but don't beat yourself up right now. Do what you need to do at your own pace and don't set yourself up for thinking you've failed the exercise part. You haven't. You may just not be ready yet. Little by little you can get back into it. We're all wanting to help and make suggestions, but you've got to do it your way, which ever way you choose. Make it right for you.

Have you thought about taking a class in something? I find that getting out of the house and somewhere with people, particularly doing something I'm not used to, is a great distractor as well as improving my mood. Didn't you mention that there is a water aerobics place near you? Now might be the time to jump in the pool, so to speak! Time will heal - it just does take time! Hugs - Yvonne

I know you've had a rough couple of weeks. Do you listen to musck while you walk? I don't know if that would help, but it helps me drown out my own thoughts while I'm working out if I don't want to hear them. You will get back into your dancing, it will just take some time. I definitely agree with going and trying a class at the gym, because that will help push you and take your mind off of things. Hang in there b/c we are here for you.
I'm glad that you are ready to get back on track with your eating and exercising! Just remember that you are worth it!!

what helps me is knowing that the first two minutes of a cardio is willpower. After that I get into it. When I'm dealing with difficult stuff and don't seem to have the energy todo it..I remember a phrase on of the spark friends said '98% is showing up' and then I plan just to show up. Of course if you can push the cardio, then you get the endorphins and feel better. And then over time,I have seen my endurance to increase etc and a positive cycle begins. So my recommendation is plan to show up for two minutes and then let momentum take over.if dancing isn't doing it and walking isn't good, try a class maybe with a friend and let the instructor and the music help push you.
So sorry to hear that your dealing with difficult stuff. Caring thoughts being sent your way. emoticon emoticon

Don't let yourself go

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

There are a million reasons why we let ourselves go,
But we can all relate to how it felt when we got there.
This is a tough time for me...
I CAN'T GO BACK!
So I'm reaching for my antidote...humor.

Hope this puts a smile on your face
It is a clip from Shrek 4

I take it you lost your Dad. I'm soooooo..... sorry !!! I know how it is. I lost my Dad just about 18 yrs. ago. I can tell you it does get easier with time. You never get over missing them, he'll always be in your heart and mind. Try to focus on all the good memories, they help you get through. My Mom died 1 yr. before Daddy, and 3 months before that, my Father in law died. it was a yr. from Hell!!! But we got through it. If you ever need to talk, I'm here. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Take care, keep safe and God Bless!

A Letter to My Body

Saturday, April 17, 2010

My Dearest,

I know our relationship had reached a low point, not too long ago, when you really started to breakdown on me. You were hurting, and all I did was ignore you, and neglect your needs. I know you kept trying to tell me something was wrong, but I just wouldn’t listen. Now I realize that the problem was all in my head, for not seeing in the mirror, what was right in front of me. You WERE speaking to me, but I refused to understand. I just kept putting immediate gratification before the things I should have taken care of; healthy eating, exercise, balancing work and play.

Well, now that I’ve come to terms with what IS important, I think you’ll admit that things are improving. The girls are happier. There is less of a WEIGHT issue and we are enjoying better results. What's BEHIND us is less important than it was before. The MIDDLE ground is becoming more defined. And to top things off, our relationship is FIRMING UP nicely.

I promise to keep working at making you happy. I want us to be together in a healthy relationship for a very long time. If I push you too hard, I’m sure you’ll let me know.

Love
Me

P.S. Please don't be mad if I flirt with a piece of chocolate every now and then
