Rainy Day Do's

Since I mostly exercise outside, i was rained out today. So, with the energy I usually expend walking/riding I got down on all fours and scrubbed my kitchen and bathroom floor. I sweat like a piggy and had to take advil later for sore muscles in my back. LOL With all that, I decided to count it as "heavy housework" under the fitness tracking. From the calories that burned,..my house might remain clean for the rest of my life.

Tomorrow, I hope to get back to the trail and go 'off road' a little and hike. Then I will be on vacation and will track steps assuming I remember the pedometer. If I can get to a computer, I will try to track everything..but if not then....well..I will see you all when I get back.

I think you are all wonderful and will try to send you a spark goodie from baltimore. LOL

    I feel the pain in my back, just remembering the last time I did that.

Well..my niece is back at my house for a while. I love it when she is here. When I overslept, I wondered if I would get to walk or ride. I didn't panic..I just went ahead and did my strength and hulahooped for 10 minutes straight. It was blessing when my son got up and watched the little people and Melissa agreed to walk with me. She is the one that wanted to go 3 miles one way..so then we had to return. I have been really psyched today. All that exercise AND I have stayed in my calorie range. God knows when I need a break and He provided just the encouragement I needed.

Now I need an opinion. I have set my goal at the lowest number of my recommended weight range. I am thinking about putting it in the middle. Is that because I am ready to just start the next face of maintenance? Or am I tired of this? Or is it reasonable?

    Thanks for commenting on my blog - that's how I found you. You sound further along in the process than I am. But I agree with Kathleen - you'll know. Goals can change and then you can change them again. If you'd like to try maintenance for a while then try it. See how that feels and then adjust accordingly. Congratulations by the way - anyone who is at the point of considering maintenance deserves hurrahs!

    Only you can answer you question about where you set your goal weight. Are you ready to start maintenance? It sounds like you'd like to give it a try. Is is reasonable or are you just tired of this?? These are questions you will need to look inward to answer.

Just know, whatever you decide, we will back you.

walking with hubby

My Dear Husband took a walk with me this morning in 90 degree weather. Bless his heart. When i overslept yesterday I ended up not walking at night..typical...so we went this morning though Iusually take the weekend off. I love to walk with him as it is the only time we ever get to actually visit without music/tv/computer/people.

Even though I exercise regularly he never seems to get as winded as I do. It has always been that way. However, the really great part was that I went much faster than usual...either showing off or just didn't think about the work so much with him there. Probably the latter. Boy was it a hot one. Glad I have it done..otherwise missing two days really makes me grouchy gertie.

    I love walking with my hubby too! He walks much slower, but I enjoy the uninterrupted time. We're going to walk on one of the mountain trails today. Not cool by any means, but cooler than around home!

The scales are moving.

Woo hoo. The scales are starting to move again. I am less than 10 pounds from my original goal (which was the lowest on my healthy range). I might actually move the goal to the middle of my range. Do you think that is more realistic? I am also going to check for healthy range for diabetics. I think I read somewhere that it can be slightly lower. But either way I am motivated when I see some changes on the scales.

I have been having trouble getting up in the mornings to get my exercise in, which makes it hard for me to get it in at all. I have managed, but I am worn out by evening and don't work as hard.

I am excited that we have finally put the child seat on the back of my bike. I have taken both granddaughters on a ride. The older one squealed with delight the whole time and was so proud of her helmet. LOL. It was so fun...and what a lot of work that was. She ways 38 pounds. The featherweight was still noticeable weight. She is the one I have custody of and she only tolerated it. Too bad for that. She would be a good work out buddy. LOL She kept wanting to stop for "wawer" to drink.

Anyway..life seems pretty good again.

Didn't have to binge today. LOL guess I didn't have to yesterday either, but I did..and it wasn't such a bad one that I feel guilty. Today I stuck within my calories, had a blast with my nephew and 2 of my grandkids. I am reminded of why I am trying to live healthier. I was able to take the 3 and 4 year old on their first hike. They saw deer who were NOT afraid of us. They saw a snake hiding under a rock, worms, moss, threw rocks in the lake, and we climbed down to a creek and played in the rocks and water with CLOTHES ON. Boy were they excited about that and I am so glad I was able to enjoy that with them. They both showed me how much fun they had through their smiles and kisses and hugs good bye. Granddaughter told me she 'loved me so much". Now THAT is reason to stay healthy.

    Great job not letting yesterday's small binge get to you at all. Kids are a great reason to stay healthy. They have so much energy and let you feel young with them. I hope you have a lot more hikes and activities with the kids on your path to a healthier you. Keep up the great work!
