Attn Moms! need help and support!

Sunday, October 07, 2012

Well. Im currently 8 months pregnant. Once I have my precious girl,I want to reaaly set a lifestyle change to eat right, stay active and be healthy for my kids. I am not sure which route to go? Any input on a plan thats great for postpartam and breast feeding? I know some of you moms have walked this path before. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Also my new goal weight loss is 120lbs and that would take me to 140. :)

I ate constantly when I was breastfeeding and still lost weight for the first 8 months of my daughter's life. I ate oatmeal to help keep my milk production up, and I drank special herbal teas and took herbal supplements for it too. Once my daughter started eating things other than breastmilk my weight loss stopped and then I gained some weight back. Quite a bit back actually. So.. my thoughts is that right after your sweet baby is born you will have no trouble. However down the line when she starts eating baby foods or you wean her etc.. that is when you are going to need to think about your diet.

I did go caffeine-free and alcohol-free while I was breastfeeding and pregnant too, but not everyone wants to do that.

I breast fed and the only down side was I was hungry all the TIME! so stock up on those veggies and eat those instead of anything sugary.
If you are lucky enough to be able to stay home for the first 6 mo. then when the weather gets nice again...walk, walk, WALK. I lost alot of weight after my son was born by getting out that stroller and walking for 45 min to an hour each afternoon. He loved it, it was great for some fresh air and I lost weight. Then when they start toddling, the park was the place to be!!!! so we walked (and ran) around there.
Congratulations!!!

I agree that breastfeeding is great. For at least a year if possible. Also make lifting the baby your workout. I'm serious, lying on your back and lifting the baby is something most babies love. If possible cut out all sugar and high-carb foods now and your baby will be less likely to be insulin-resistant later. Increase your intake of vegetables and fruit and your babies immune system will work better. Consume a good amount of healthy fat and protein from nuts, dairy and meat. and skip all low-fat and fat-free products. Also, skip all other processed foods.
Best wishes,
Birgit

I've heard that breast feeding your baby for as long as possible helps with the weight loss. I heard it from a new mom, my friend.

Renew, Refesh---REEWIND!!!!!!!!

Ive had an ongoing battle with my weight since I graduated high school. Ive always lacked the motivation to stick to my healthy lifestyle without being discouraged and quitting. it's a bit of a catch 22, when I'm happy I eat, when I'm upset I eat. now in my 30's I realize that I wont allow myself to feel this way any longer. when you are overweight, it really effects all areas of your life. I AM DONE BEING CONTROLLED BY MY BAD HABITS. I re enter this journey with hopes to go the distance! wish me luck!!!!!!!
