2014---let's do this!

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

Ok, I am so excited about 2014. I don't know what it holds in store or what God will do in our lives but I am excited!
My goals for this year: lose 50 pounds by the end of the year. I will do this by eating smaller portions, 5 small meals a day instead of 3 "normal" sized ones, no wheat or sugar, organic foods as much as possible, some form of exercise at least 10 minutes a day.
Read my Bible thru at least once this year (read everyday 5 chapters, a Psalm and a Proverb)
Study HUngarian 30 minutes everyday.

I also will not add anything to my schedule that God has not directed me to do.

Blessings and grace to you all in 2014!

Too long!

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

Oh, I have not been here in a LONG time! So many things going on... moved to Richmond for some training before going to Budapest Hungary. Not much chance to eat organic here right now but will be able to eat healthier once we get "there" ! I have researched and most of the GMOs and pesticides are banned in that country! PTL!!!
I have put back on a few pounds since being here at training. Long days in class too tired to do much exercise after a long day of training. Cafeteria food is good...maybe too good...but not the healthiest in the world :(
So...shortly after Christmas we will be on our way to Hungary!
Thanks to you all who posted way back in June! It has been that long!
Today I tried on some shirts at a local store...in the dressing room with huge unforgiving mirrors......so, here I am!

making changes

Friday, June 01, 2012

Ok, I am still with the organic/ local grown/no processed food lifestyle. I really do feel better. I have not lost a lot of weight but we have been doing lots of things that keep us out of the house and so far I have not worked on healthy packed lunches. That is something I must work on next.
I am going to start using coconut oil but need a resource for a good quality type and also some help with what to buy.
Got our letter of acceptance with the mission board this week so will be going somewhere overseas soon. Must find out what organics are available wherever we go.
Gotta take care of the temple emoticon

I am also organic or try to be here where I moved to in NC - no organics. You will be surprised that outside of the US GMOs are mostly banned, and food is much closer to organic, naturally, because many chemicals sprayed on US crops are banned in Europe etc. I don't know where you're going; exceptions are China and Mexico, Taiwan, etc. I get coconut on sale from VitaCost.com, extra virgin organic. It mostly sits in the cabinet and I need to start using it everyday. It's also great for skin & hair by the way.

Real Food addiction!

Saturday, April 28, 2012

I have become addicted and obsessed with "real food." I have not eaten a Mcd's hamburger in months and have not missed them at all.
I have found a local farm that delivers a cooler of fresh fruits and vegetables every Friday. It is local and for the most part organic :) I never know what they are going to bring so it is an adventure learning how to cook new things and new recipes for common things. Just yesterday I made stir fried lettuce~ not bad!
I have also found another local farm that has free range chicken, grass fed beef , free range eggs and raw milk. I will eventually start making my own butter but until then-they also have Amish butter.
I want to begin making my own bread with whole grains-we will see how that goes.
Loving the healthy whole food life! Oh....I have also planted a small garden! Woohoo!

I LOVE fresh produce; whether from my garden (preferably) or from a farmer's market! It is worth the trouble. We are just starting to harvest some strawberries--but those won't last long. At least I will eat as many as we care to then freeze the rest for all winter.

Where did it go?

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

So, I have been battling 5 pounds for 2 months! But for some reason...I am sure it is a God thing...I decided I did not want anymore processed foods. No McD's, no eating out just some real food. and I have lost 5 pounds in just a little over a week! I know much of it is fluid and sodium but it is gone! I am excited it seems I am losing a pound every 2 days! WooHoo!!!!
Praise the LORD!

Thanks for all the encouragement! I am going to slowly continue to make changes and "clean" my pantry and refrigerator.
BTW, is anyone doing the Beth Moore BIble study Book of James? I am loving it!
Blessings to you all!

Sounds great!!! I think the processed stuff in boxes and in the freezer tend to be difficult to digest and hang onto the fat. Keep up the good eating habits...and clean pantry!!! emoticon emoticon

Same thing happened to me! I was told that I was carrying about 6 pounds of "toxic water" around and I thought it was a sales gimic to get this detox program. The more I read about toxins in our systems, it turns out that processed foods including all the low fat stuff, and even fresh fruit and veg if it's been treated with pesticides, has our liver working overtime to flush out the toxins instead of metabolizing fat like it should be doing as well. After 2 weeks of eating more organic, unprocessed food, including homemade desserts, I lost between 5 and 6 pounds. Thats without exercising much! I was astounded! I didn't even cut out everything that was processed, just starting to clean out my pantry. I figure, by the end of the year, I should have mostly organic, unprocessed stuff.
