1 pound lost, 8 days without pop

Yesterday was day 8 of my no pop. I didn't promise to not drink any pop, just to cut back. I having been feeling sluggish. I broke down and had half a can of diet coke. I don't feel any more energetic and it didn't taste as well as I remember. It's back to water with lemon. I have also lost 1 pound. I know it's not much, but each pound counts. Plus I have had a lot of stress at school. I think my body is reacting to the stress. I have been exercising every day even thought I hurt my back. I had to cut back to walking instead of jogging and using the elliptical machine. Yoga has been good for my back too, just not stretching as far. All in all it has been a successful week for me.
I am a little sad. My son went back to college today after being home for 3 1/2 weeks. I will miss him, but not the mess!

That happened to me, too.

After I had been off of soda pop for a while my taste buds changed drastically.

All of a sudden apples, for example, tasted so sweet. I was never crazy about them and now I love them.

The thought of eating sweet potato gagged me. Now I love baked sweet potatoes!

There so many things that taste so yummy to me now. Unreal. LOL

I was also able to decrease the amount of sugar I used in my coffee a few granuales at a time. I would tap the measuring spoon to knock off a liitle each week until I got down to 1/2 tsp.
Then I went for broke and began drinking it without any sugar at all.
Now I drink coffee with just a splash of skim milk.

I can't stand sugar in my coffee anymore.


I didn't have any soda pop for one whole year. No sweetened iced tea either.

Now I can enjoy a small glass as a 'treat' once in a great while.

Never ever did I imagine that I could accomplish this.

  Congrats on the 1lb and the soda break. I also didn't make giving up soda a goal but I find that with tracking my water intake I automatically drink it less. I couldn't believe how many "empty" calories I was consuming with soda. Great job!

    My son is going back to school this weekend also! The house will be back to clean and orderly, but oh so quiet. I get sad but, amazingly, I adjust quickly:)

Day 4 no pop

One of my goals this year was to drink less pop. I only drink diet, so it wasn't a calorie thing. I have been reading about artificial sweeteners making us fatter, so I thought I would cut down on the diet pop. I have gone 4 days without any pop. Upside is that my water intake has increased. Downside- I ma tired, but feel better, plus my coffee intake has also increased! I guess I need the caffeine. I find that I am drinking coffee at night. It could be that my husband bought me a Keurig machine for Christmas. I guess I need to get some teas for it. I hope to make it all week without pop! Wish me luck. 4 days down, 3 more to go.

New Year

I don't usually blog, I just add comments to my team's pages. I thought I would post my goals for this month. I don't make yearly goals/resolutions. I stick with short term goals. My goal this month is to lose 4 pounds. One pound a week. I also will eat healthy and track my food daily. I started this yesterday. My last goal is to cut down on my diet pop consumption. I didn't have any yesterday. I have been drinking water with a few squirts of lemon juice. I will also exercise 7 days a week. This one is a little trickier, because I have somehow hurt my upper arm/shoulder, but I can walk on the treadmill, work my lower body, core or use the elliptical machine without the handlebars.

Well, we are off of school for 2 weeks. I hope to get back on track. Since my son's wedding and changing schools in August, I have been off. After 19 years at one school and lots of friends and great team members the change has been very hard. I am emotional exhausted and don't have the energy to exercise. I have only gained 3 pounds, but I feel out of shape. It doesn't help that I have a very difficult child in my classroom who demands most of my energy. I am hoping to get back with the program, starting today. I did really well today. I used the elliptical machine for 30 minutes and ate pretty well! I am hoping time away from school stress will help. Power shopping and walking tomorrow!

    Hi Sherri, I'm on the Christian Living Teamm too. Good for you getting back into the swing of things. Afraid this whole past week hasn't gone well for me in the lifestyle changes department. Tomorrow is my weigh-in day and I will try again, although I promised my 3 grandchildren that we would bake cookies tomorrow (ooooh boy, carbs is my weakness!). Biggest Loser

Today was the last day with the biggest loser, at my school. I won first prize of $66.00. I lost the most percentage of weight and the most weight since February. I am down a total of 13.5 pounds. I have decided to buy a new bathing suit with the money. My husband is taking me to Hawaii in October, so I will buy a bikini. I hope to lose a little more weight before buying the swimsuit. I don't want it to be too big! Aim high and you will see wonderful results! emoticon emoticon
