Boy, I've been lazy about blogging this month! I don't even know what I've been up to, it just feels like a blur! I've been doing well. Some random thoughts:
*I finally got back into some cooking last week. I even managed to pull myself out of my allergies from heck induced headache to do a bunch of cooking on Sunday (as I result, I finally managed to bring my lunch today - yay!!!).
*I've been doing pretty well on keeping up with exercise - might even make that goal this month! I did 45 minutes last night on the bike, and I got the resistance back up (I'd been taking the easy way out the last few times to encourage myself to keep at it, LOL). Propped up my iPad on the screen and watched Ally McBeal while I sweated it out. I love having gym equipment at home!
*I did my first full pilates class a couple of weeks ago - going again tomorrow! I've done videos, but the actual class was so much better. Much like yoga, it's good to have someone tell you how to correct your form. A tweak here and there, and I felt it that much more. My abs were killing me for two days, which is good!
*My foot is still bothering me, so I've been laying off excessive walking. I think it's plantar's fasciitis, but it also feels a bit like a bone spur (or both). Very aggravating! I've tried various treatments, but I think it just has to heal itself. Be glad when that's better!
*I checked out some meditation books from the library, but haven't had time to practice. Still struggling to work that into my daily routine. I haven't figured out the best time to meditate. I think I just need to experiment and make it a priority. So calming!
So that's my update! I need to make the time to blog more often. It helps to lay my thoughts out in front of me now and then!
Hope your week sparkles!!!

I was proud of myself last night. I didn't get home from work until 8:30 last night (the first of the month is a real bugger at work), and was hoping to exercise. Of course, as soon as I walked in the door, I just wanted to fall on the couch and eat ice cream. Luckily, the hubby kept gently prodding me to head to the basement to work out, and once he started putting on his workout clothes, I felt guilted enough to go with him. So glad I did! I told myself I could do a shorter workout, but once I got started, I got into it. I did some extra sets during strength training and the full 30 minutes on the bike. Felt so much better - it helps so much that we are finally pushing each other! (and yes, I, ahem, still got in the ice cream and time on the couch - but it's homemade ice cream, doesn't that make it ok???? LOL).
So anyway, August goals:
1. 900 fitness minutes
(I keep coming so close on this one, I need to blow it away this month!)
2. Cook at least two meals a week.
(The hubs won't eat anything vegetarian, so when I cook, it's just for me. One entree gives me 4-6 meals, and I freeze anything I can't eat that week).
3. Eat out only 3-4 times a week
(roughly 2 lunches out, and two meals out on the weekend)
I really need to focus on eating better. I'm beginning to get more consistent in working out, but I need to eat better foods so that I'm properly fueled.
Make it a sparkly August!

July is my least favorite month of the year. I am just not into summer, and July is just hot. Makes me not want to do anything! So glad summer is half over, and autumn is on the horizon (I realize I'm probably in the minority here, most people I know think I'm insane to look forward to cold weather). So, how did July go?
1. At least 900 fitness minutes - Actual = 850. Not too bad. I wish I had made the whole 900, but I got behind early in the month, and it was a race just getting to the point I did. But it's good to know I'm finally in the ballpark!
2. Yoga at least once per week - I think I went to yoga 3 times, with a few short practices at home - overall, I think I averaged enough to make it!
3. Take my lunch to work at least 3 days per week. - Um, yeah, this so did NOT happen! LOL
It is so much easier to get exercise in with some gym equipment at home! Not only is it a short trip, but the hubby and I have been motivating each other. Plus, with both of us down there, we have to stay the full hour so we both get full time on the bike and weight bench. Hopefully, August will be better for exercise!
Still working on August goals, but will try to post in the next day or so.
Have a sparkly week!

This week has been a real flop exercise-wise. Not completely my fault, I guess. I am having issues with allergies/sinus problems, and that gives me headaches and dizziness that make it near impossible to keep up with my exercise plans. I hoped it would be better today so I could make yoga tonight, but I got hit with another mind-bender this afternoon. It also kept me from enjoying my afternoon off at the beach - such a nice day, but the heat and sun were too much, and I only managed to stay for an hour. So frustrating!
I keep reminding myself that this too shall pass - it has to. I need to keep up. A few days off can too easily stretch into weeks or months.
Let's hope I can pick up where I left off tomorrow. Positive thinking, right??? :)

So yesterday did not start out well. I had planned to go to yoga first thing in the morning. It's usually so nice waking up on Saturday morning and knowing I have the whole weekend ahead of me! But yesterday I just felt like a steaming pile of doogie doo. I don't know why. I didn't sleep well Friday night, and I just tossed and turned and woke up constantly. As a result, I woke up with everything hurting. The very idea of getting up and driving somewhere hurt. So I gave up on yoga, and feared my whole day was going to be shot (and we had tons of plans!)
So I finally dragged myself up and had a less than healthy snack. After a little time surfing on the computer, the hubs put on his workout clothes and suggested some exercise. Not wanting to let him down, I got dressed and slumped off to the basement. It was sad at first. While he rode the exercise bike, I sort of laid on the weight bench and listlessly lifted some weights. But then the miraculous happened - each set seemed to get easier! By the time he finished his ride, I was back at normal speed and effort, and I actually ended up with some good strength training totals! After a half hour on the bike, I felt like my usual self, what a relief! So glad he pushed me!
After that, we rushed around getting cleaned up, then headed out to a volunteer event for a group we belong to, then had a healthy lunch at our favorite Japanese restaurant. Then a ton of shopping (got the most awesome base for our fondue pot, can't wait to make more!), then went out to an awesome Moroccan restaurant that I had a Groupon for. Food was awesome, I should have taken pictures, it was too beautiful. Even got in an extra walk, as it was easier to leave the car at the mall, and hike the half mile to the restaurant. Followed by grocery shopping at our favorite store (it's a little bit of a drive so we can't get there every week, but our shopping took us far from home).
All in all, I was happy that I was able to pull the day out of the toilet. It could have been so much different, but it ended up being such a perfect day!
