Fall, Leaves, Fall

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I remember memorizing this poem in junior high. It's perfect for the first day of autumn.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

Name That Bird

Saturday, September 15, 2012

I love taking pictures, so I've decided that maybe this will get me walking outside a little more. I'm glad I had the camera, because I saw this bird and I was wondering what it was. Here we go...

    Fun! Great photo! My husband & I enjoy photography... we have thousands of photos on our computer (especially flowers!). A local Reserve just opened so I think we will be exploring it soon. ;)

Blessings

Saturday, December 03, 2011

A Spark member inspired me to list my blessings. Here they are...

1. My wonderful parents who love me

2. Great friends who treat me like family

3. The good health of all of the above and my own

4. A job that I love

5. The ability to travel to places I dreamed of as a kid

I thank God for these blessings.

Wandering Around Southern Illinois

Monday, July 04, 2011

Wow, I discovered the beauty of southern Illinois over the holiday weekend on a short road trip. It was funny because, for the first time, I was looking for opportunities to walk/hike. Now I didn't pick anything too long, mainly due to the heat and humidity, but I did a few mile/mile and a half hikes, and I loved them! I saw some amazing places: Giant City State Park, Cache River State Natural Area (a Cypress swamp in IL--who knew?), Cave-in-Rock State Park, and Garden of the Gods Recreation Area.

My Weekend Walk

Monday, June 27, 2011

I went for a walk on the I & M Canal trail in Illinois over the weekend. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while. I've always put it off for fear of it being too long. I can push myself on the treadmill, but I can always get off when I reach my limit. I shouldn't have worried. I wasn't tired, just excited to be outside on a gorgeous day. So fun!
