Today, 23 Aug is TRUELOU's Birthday

Hey, everyone, let's all wish a dear lady, TRUELOU, a great big Happy Birthday. She is one lady who certainly deserves as many wishes as we can give her. She's always happy and update, she truly cares about her family and her Spark friends, she gives comfort when she can and I'm just so happy to be able to call her friend. She loves Lucille Ball and watched a marathon of I Love Lucy shows a couple of weeks ago on the celebration of what would have been Ms Ball's 100th birthday. I think she was glued to the TV all week-end!

She's been on site for 2 years and is doing her best to become a healthier person.
Please give her encouragement to continue.

TRUELOU, here's to wishing you a very wonderful day, for a very wonderful person. (P.S. See you at BP. Her RH has requested your presence and you know how "we" get when "we" are upset.)

Can't Edit My Spark Page

Help, I can't change anything on my spark page. I keep getting an error when I click "save changes".

Can't even show the error msg here as it, again, says I can't use the cited things. Frustrating.

Trying to change colors, tracker, etc.

Can anyone help. Thanks.

Haven't heard from a tech yet, guess cause it's the week-end.

    Hope you found out the reasons. I personally try to only do two changes at a time and then I hit the save button. Maybe try posting this on the boards. I am sure you will get an answer soon. Perhaps maybe there was a virus... scan your computer.. sometimes the viruses block pathways.

    Hope your editing problem is solved. When I have a problem with my computer, all I can do is pray.(Not good with it if it gets complicated). Then believe it or not, messing around with the it the problem somehow solves itself.LOL

    Hope your problem is solved. I'm pretty hopeless with computers, most of my problems are solved by logging out and starting over again! If I do happen to solve a problem, I never know how I did it!

    I would go back to the tech message board and post the problem again. Some very experienced members might have the answers.
I have had tech problems, and gradually they work themselves out.

    I have problems with that if the "buttons" aren't at the middle of the page. The ads have been interfering. See if it makes a difference where things are on the page.

Be Thankful

I was reminded again this week how fortunate and blessed I am.

I have very dear friend who lost her husband in March and just the other day on the 4th of July, one of her sons died. He had been having stomach and ulcer problems and almost bled to death a couple of months ago. He started bleeding again on the fourth and coded three times. The third time, after 20 minutes, his mother told the doctors to let him go. How brave she was.

I don't know what the statistics are on losing children, but out of 6 of my friends and family I'm the only one who's child is alive and healthy, albeit very ornery. She will be 40 in Oct. One of my friend's has lost two children.

I feel so bad for these parents. They and their children are in my prayers every night.

Even if you and your child(ren) don't get along well, as my daughter and I don't, forgive them and try to make amends with them. Life if too short and you never know when God will call them or you.

Love your children and thank God every day for them.

Prayers to all who have lost children and other family members before their time.

    Thanks Joan. I just had the opportunity to spend a couple of days with my "ornery" son and we were able to mend some fences, for which I am grateful. I am so sorry for your friend's loss, it must have been devastatingly hard to do what she did.

    Your message goes for the children as well. Although I never had issues with my mOm, I also took the opportunity to get very close with her after college - turns out I only got 10 years with her before she passed. That time means everything to me now!

Thanks for reminding us to be thankful for our children. We have one son, and we have a great relationship. He is coming home Friday for the weekend, and I am so excited. We just saw her for a few hours about 2 weeks ago, when we went to his house to help him move some furniture.
Family is such a priority.

    So very true, Joan. Everyone needs to be thankful on a daily basis. I know my grandmother lost her stepson when he was in his mid 20s; I don't think she ever got over it.

I'm fortunate to have a wonderful son and dil. My health isn't the best, but I am thankful for every day on this earth.

Today is a dear friend's 2nd anniversary with Spark People. For those who know her she is always there for us, is a great motivator and is truly a great person.

She had very serious surgery earlier this year and I'm happy to say she is recovering well. She's taken up swimming every day and is hoping to start using the equipment at her gym. I wish her all the luck in the world.

Please send her good wishes.

    Thanks, QJ :) I forgot all about it being my Sparkversary! 2 years, 80 lbs. gone, heart surgery over, and going to the pool. It's been quite the journey! Still more to lose but those 80 lbs. are gone forever!

Which breakfast stays with you the longest?

I have two. Either two packets of instant oatmeal or bacon, eggs, toast. I use microwave bacon "four pieces", two eggs "fried" using Pam, and two pieces of honey wheat bread.

I need more ideas. I really need to get back on the wagon. I've been so bad.

I'm so happy for all of you who are working your programs and getting close to or are at goal weight. Congratulations.

    I find that an egg sandwich sticks with me the longest. I have one egg over easy, canadian bacon, Thomas english muffin and sometimes a little cheese. I always have some fruit, too. I don't get hungry when I have that as opposed to something else.

    I think it depends on the person.
My breakfast consists of cereal with lowfat milk. There are 3 healthy cereals that I mix together. I add wheat germ, blueberries, almonds or walnuts, Then I On the side, I have red grapes and half a Lenders' bagel.
Sometimes if I'm really hungry, I'll have a Special K protein snack bar.

Depending on the intensity of the exercise is the key to my breakfast. I wish that I did like oatmeal. It is so good for you.

    I love a '2 egg' omlet of Egg beaters . . . . with some fresh veggies (whatever I have) broccoli, mushrooms, green onions, caulifower, green beans, tofu or red/green peppers (you get the idea) with a couple of slices of whole grain toast with just a touch of margarine.

If I am REALLY hungry I will add some leftover chicken or bacon bits.

oatmeal of course. . . old fashioned... never instant .. in the micro with some nuts - flax and almond milk and dried blueberries... is an old standby.

Have fun. STEP OUT 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 and explore the possibilities.
They are endless.

    A few ideas for you:

1) oatmeal and fruit (stir in some flaxseed and/or nuts)

2) berries, yogurt and granola

3) grapefruit, whole grain toast, almond butter (lower in fat that peanut butter)

4) fresh fruit salad (plain or with yogurt)

5) scrambled eggs w/veggies (peppers, onion, broccoli, etc.)

6) low-fat cottage cheese and fruit

    Breakfast is the absolute HARDEST for me!! Partially because I never feel hungry in the mornings and partially because I'm always running late for work and don't want to take the time to actually make something. I know for sure granola bars leave me starving two hours later! I told my husband yesterday that I might start making breakfast sandwiches and stuff to freeze and just pull out in the mornings. Wish I had more advice!!
