My 1 Yr Sparkversary!

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

emoticon It's so hard to believe that I joined Spark People a year ago. One of my first teams, was the one at the time I joined the Class of May 11-17, 2009. The team has come up with a new name, we are now called "SURVIVORS" Class of May 11-17.
We are Survivors because we have stayed with Spark ,and continue to striffe on meeting are goals.
I love this team, and have learned so much. I've learned about fitness, and nutrition, and continue to keep learning new things.
Most of all, I have more confidence in myself, than I ever have had in my entire life. I give Spark, and all of the wonderful people on here for helping me to achieve this.
There are always someone to give a kind word, in trying to motivate someone to not give up. This is a new lifestyle, so it's an ongoing project for the rest of our lives. This is how I feel, anyway.
I might not have lost that much weight ,yet, but I know that's partly because I need to try to do better on my calorie intake. I know that I either have to work out ,and burn lots more calories, or else not take in as many calories.
I do like that Spark has given me a guide line to go by ,on how many calories I should have a day.
I enjoy all of my Spark teams, as well as the message boards. There are helpful tips from team members listed on message boards, and just a place to chat in general.
It's been a year, but I will continue to set goals, and aim to reach them. This isn't just about reaching a goal ,but to be able to enjoy my life , in a healthier way.
To this , I can say Thank You , Spark People, and to all of my Spark Teams, and friends. I'm also appreciative of all who have made comments on my Spark Page, as well.
Happy Spark Anniversary to me!

  Happy Anniversary!
It is a journey and process, not so much a final destination. You have such a great attitude - what a gift that is.
Good luck as you continue on your journey to better health.

Sweatsuit to swimsuit bootcamp

Sunday, May 03, 2009

I joined this new team, in hoping that it would help me to meet my goals.

Here's where I stand at today with weight and measurements-- WEIGHT: 189 lbs.
Bust: 42 1/2"
Waist: 43"
Hips: 46 1/2"

I haven't done as well ,lately, and it shows. I've gained weight, and measurements are back up some.
I ,now ,realize maybe , that I don't know portion control like I thought I did. Not only that, I also eat too much fast food, and have been fooled that some of the food that I thought was healthier, actually isn't. Well, I've learnt that lesson the hard way. Instead of worrying about it, I just need to put that behind me, and start fresh with this new team ,and new month.
I have another team that I belong to and this month, the challenge is to be accountable. Be accountable for the calories that we consume, and the fitness minutes that we do. I'm really going to do better at staying with both teams and the goals that go with them for this month of May 2009.
In doing so, I have a new me to look forward too. Hopefully, a new skinny me.
By the end of May , I hope to show at least , a couple pounds lost, and five would be even better. emoticon

Sharon, I just read your blog again and wanted to encourage you as you go forward this month. You sound like you are much the same weight/size that I am. Portion control is a big issue for me too, in more ways than one.
May you have a great month with your accountability and hope it shows nicely on the scale the end of May!!

Accountability sounds good. I am certain you will be successful this month. I hear you about the fast food. I am looking at like kryptonite. Like I am superwoman and the kryptonite will kill me. So we are on a joint mission. A mission not to fail. I know you can do it.

One Month down! Are you sticking to your New Year's resolutions?

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

I was able to stick to some things, but not others. I figured with the New Year, that I'd make a fresh start with my programs on Spark.
I had a list of 10 items on my January resolutions to do.
Basically, I didn't do as well ,as I was hoping to do. Things came up, and I wasn't able to keep up with my exercise programs ,like I wanted to do. I'm still having problems drinking enough water, so this is going to be one of my ongoing goals to work on, until I succeed. I've not eaten breakfast most mornings, and I was hoping to get up and eat breakfast at least 2, or 3 times a week. This will be an ongoing goal of mine to work on, as well.
I've been on some team challenges, and haven't done too badly on those. I feel that I'll always have room for improvements. In summoning up, I don't feel like I've failed at anything, but just didn't too as well as I was hoping to do. The important thing is that I'm not giving up. These resolutions just helped me to look at the big picture to see what I need to work on the most. Now, that I have a good idea, I can work on them, and start planning better for the next month.

Surprisingly yes and I am loving the challenge. In the past 30 days, I have lost 9lbs and 3in off my waist, changed my eating habits drastically and increased my metabolism beyond belief. My guilt trip is not about the sweets I ate, but the exercise I didn't do as planned. The way that I see myself keeps me motivated to know that I am once again on the road to being healthy, happy and harmonious.

If you can accomplish one thing each day you are doing great. Keep up the great attitude.

It's almost the New year, so I thought about it being a New Year and a New Beginning for me with spark people. I'm going to make a better effort in reaching my goals. After the first , I'm going to make some new plans and goals. Hopefully, there will be some new challenges on some of my spark teams. The water sparkler team is working on one now for the New Year. I will know more about what plans that I can make for my fitness, after doctor visit on the 30th. At the end of the year, I always look forward to the New Year, hoping that it will be better than the year before. One thing that I do plan on right now is , to keep on sparking with spark people. I feel that this is a great site to help with motivation ,and I like the trackers. I noticed this week that the food tracker has been updated, for the better. It has made me think more about my nutrition ,also. This is an area that I need to improve on , with the New Year, too.

I went for a recent bone density scan. In fact, it was done last week. Today, Dec 2,2008, I went to my family doctor. I found out my results of the test, and it sounded good. My first test was done sometime in 2004. My doctor told me to take Oscal 500 Plus D, twice a day. I've been taking them ever since. Today, my doctor told me that my bone loss is better than the results in 2004. I also found out where my bone loss is at. It's in my left hip, and spine. Since it's better, I don't only think that it's from my calcium supplement ,but it's from all of the exercise that I've been doing. I haven't lost that much weight ,but I've gained in other ways. This makes me very happy, and I feel like all of my exercising has paid off, after all. Woo Hoo!
